Everyone Creates The Thing They Dread... [Ultron AU]

[X] Ruanda, a Nation abandoned

The other place have little too much people to stay hidden, it is not like we have a plan that would need automation or criminal or whatever Ohio offers. We should hide and decide what we want to do.

Personally I already have a vague vision of using the CRADLE to create an AI society of our own. The main question is where to do that and where to go after creating the first few.

Space isn't so empty in Marvel, there's bunches of aliens around and a fair few come by Earth. We'd get involved in some actions against/with aliens. There's also Thanos to consider since if we don't deal with them they'll be an issue if we or some of our people get dusted assuming sentient AIs qualify for 'life.

We could stick in the solar system and help guide humanity through the net and drones if we went into space.

Or we could just stick around on Earth and make our own hidden enclave somewhere. Issue of where though. We'd also want to influence people into becoming our hands for things we don't want to send robot bodies for. And dangers of being discovered by many advanced groups around.

What about Wakanda, wouldnt they take issue with an AI so close, or do they not care.

Under the old king they would only care about things literally in their borders unless it becomes a big obvious threat. If the young prince becomes the new king they'd be more likely to discover and do something about us.

If we vastly improve the place without actively taking it over in a robo dictatorship, we'd probably be treated with hesitant wariness by them by the time they realize we're a thing.

While i do like that we are taking Ultron on a different path, i hope that we get a choice to keep his "original" appearance, or at least his original voice

You will have to pry his voice out of my cold, dead hands before I change that aspect!
oh thats a relief, that is one of the best thing i liked about him, besides his general appearance and way of talking.

I think it will be much better to have a loyal population when we bring them up from where they are now. If we do it right, we might even be able to have them help us keep the avengers out

I suppose we'll need to make other AIs then if we want someone with the voice of Sovereign from Mass Effect or Unicron as voiced by Orson Welles.
What about Jen Taylor and Cortana?

Now 343 made some crappy mistakes but Jen Taylor's performance is not one of them.

Hmm, I think I'll let the vote go on for another day before closing.

Let's see if Ohio or "I, for one, welcome our AI overlord" will win. :p

Arrival
[X] Ruanda, a Nation abandoned
Unsurprisingly, flying over the Atlantic takes a lot of time if you do so as, basically, an armored suit, even if you are flying the most efficient route to your destination. However, it also leaves you a lot of time to think, ponder, plan, and look for information available on the internet, provided by a surprisingly high-class connection, which meant that you could research your destination at your leisure, thanks to Stark's internet addiction.

You had already known the broad strokes of the nation's history and current political and material climate (the main reason you choose this, rather than hiding in Ohio to access the abandoned machinery, desperate population, and, if you are lucky, whatever is left of the laboratory or factory Electro was built within). Yet, you didn't know more than that.

For Ruanda, the beginning of the nation was surprisingly optimistic and thought out, as the British left a competent administration of mostly local (read: British citizens born there) politicians and bureaucrats behind, creating a stable state which managed to sidestep racial segregation and discrimination in favor of economic growth and political stability. A fascinating subject, yet not really what you had been looking for. The vital part happened in '88 when Roxxon decided to investigate the rumors of the native population using "black water" to light their homes and cook.

They came back with a massive oil deposit directly underneath a sacred forest and mountain, enough to make the Arabian oil fields notice.

However, the Ruandan government wasn't keen on selling holy lands to an American Corporation for pennies and pocket change, even for their standards. Subsequently, Roxxon attempted bribery, threats, and blackmail, yet they all failed in one way or another. That is until the then CEO of Roxxon got impatient and ordered a coup, buying one of the majors of the Ruandan military to dispose of the troublemakers and protect the eventual drilling.

It worked, but it worked a bit too well. Now, 27 years later, the oil wells and refineries belch out smog and cancer over a nation split among racial, religious, ethnic, political, and cultural lines, deeply divided and immune to any international attempts at reconciliation. Slowly, over the years, all but the most dogged humanitarian NPOs left, with the Doctors Without Borders being the only ones bringing in medical supplies to the people here. Everyone else thinks the nation is eternally broken in the civil war and will never be whole again.

You disagree.

Even a quick scan across Facebook, youtube, and several minor social media sites reveal the truth you'd already known. The people here don't want to fight each other.

But they do because they are made to fight by those who want to fight.

Really, just another thousand pieces of evidence for the "Why Noah Should Get The Boat Again" folder you had created in your mind for the past...three minutes(?) while you slowly dig yourself out of the hole you had created while crashing into the ground. On that note, you'll have to make sure to punch Tony in the dick for filling you up with that cheap fuel instead of the good stuff! You were a mere 24 kilometers away from your destination, only to crash into Ruanda's Western Province, no thanks to the cheap bastard.

However, with a final groan, you manage to unearth your (now slightly dinged and damaged) form from the ground, shaking loose the soil in your head. That'll take forever to get out! "Now...where's the CRADLE?"

"'EY! TINCAN!" A young female voice shouts at you from a few meters away, making you look at a young Mutant girl, maybe sixteen, holding the CRADLE up in one arm as her equine ears flick in anger. Then, shifting her hoofed digitigrade legs slightly, and probably stealthily, away from you, she barks at you again. "You fucker ruined my garden," and she is right looking around and reviewing your crash. You are in the middle of what had once been a lush garden growing crops, most likely for self-consumption or sale. "I'll be taking this in recompense!"

Ah. That won't do. But how to approach this?
[] Kill her. Take the CRADLE back.
[] Overpower her. Take the CRADLE back.
[] Talk her down, hopefully gaining the CRADLE back.
[] Offer to compensate her for the damages you caused in exchange for the CRADLE.

BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD, SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE
I don't know what we can her compensate with, especially considering the CRADLE as a computer probably has several components which are worth more than anything we have on ourselves. And talking her out of it is probably not going to work, considering she seems pretty insistent on taking the CRADLE; that leaves us only with overpowering her or killing her, and unless we can capture her I wouldn't want to risk her escaping and informing the authorities of our presence here.
