[X] You had been meaning to build something… Well, you can still see a movie, but only at night. That's still fine, right? (++Anya Relationship, ++Get to make your Chained Artifice, --Campus at Night)
-[X] Invite Lara as well.
--[X] Inform Anya first, ask if she is OK with it.
A movie? That actually sounded like a pretty good idea, even if you have no clue what's showing in the theaters. "Sure, I'd love to see a movie," you say. "Although, I was hoping to do something with a friend tomorrow too? Mind if I invite her to tag along?"
"Yeah, of course it's fine!" Anya says, grinning wildly. "When should we see it?"
"Well, I was thinking about finishing something up tomorrow," you think over the problem for a little bit. Most stores that sell magical components close early in the day to help prevent theft, so you'd have to go in the morning to pick up the materials, and then finish the Chained Artifice. "I should be able to have it done by four? Maybe we could go out for dinner first, then go to the movies?"
"Sounds like a plan." It wouldn't be hard to hunt Lara down and invite her, which really just left picking out a movie that isn't terrible. Or at least, a movie that's terrible enough to be funny.
___
You woke up early the next morning and left without breakfast. There was a bus line straight from Langley's to "Alkahest's Bazaar" as it was sometimes called. It was a street of stores tailored specifically to meeting the needs of Willworkers, which wasn't so odd, wherever there was a demand someone would produce a supply. The odd part was that with a school like Langley's, where every advantage is important and thus valuable, the Bazaar had grown where most others settled into niche markets or faded away.
A little bit of legwork later and you've found a store that carries what you want. Nothing too powerful or rare, but it wasn't like you were looking for anything too expensive. The store, a "Rory's Curiosity Shoppe", was practically a pawn shop, dealing mostly in antiques or odd novelties. This was, of course, the exact kind of thing you were looking for.
You had never found any textbooks or manuals to teach you about Chaining, but you had figured out enough of it by experimentation to know that the center of the Chain was important. It would help define the purpose of your creation, lend structure to the gestalt of charms. Rory's had plenty of unique, magical odds and ends, and the fact that it was comfortably within your price range only sweetened the deal.
You trawled through the shelves, doing your best to make sure you haven't missed anything that could be of use, and by the end of it you have a handful of acceptable choices to pick from. After a while of deliberation, you made your purchase at the front desk, and left. You had passed up quite a few intriguing trinkets however, perhaps you should return later.
Choose One Chained Artifice
[X] <Wasted Glory>
Wasted Glory is a long knife of tarnished silver, it's edge almost as large as your forearm. It's Core is a shattered length of blade worked into the knife, covered in old and ruined images of a lion. Wasted Glory improves the potency of all Debuff skills. An enemy struck with Wasted Glory finds themselves diminished (-2 dice attacks), and Wasted Glory gains the use of that power (Wasted Glory can store an enemy's ability, and use it at a reduced Will cost).
[X] <Sparking Edifice>
Sparking Edifice is a bracer made of a deep red crystal that seems to have lightning trapped within. It's Core is a piece of fractal crystal that lies within the bracer. Sparking Edifice increases the damage of all melee attacks you make (3 Ethereal dice). Sparking Edifice also allow you to mimic any charm you have built recently(Any of the last charms you built/maintained can be used for 5 Will).
[X] <Bandit King's Shroud>
Bandit King's Shroud is a long, patterned scarf that covers the nose and mouth. It's Core are the remnants of a tapestry that depicts Vittorio Volonte, a notorious robber who plagued mainland Europe in the early 1900s. The Shroud grants you an aura of unobtrusiveness, which makes it very unlikely that people will notice you. Vittorio was nearly clairvoyant, largely due to his ability to read the subtle weave of Ethereal connections, and the Shroud lets you draw upon that skill (Spend 6 Will to greatly increase success of an action via extrapolation of the future.)

You shiver, hugging your arms close to try and remain warm. The night had started off a little rocky, with an awkward silence hanging between Anya and Lara. However, near the end of the meal the two of them hit it off when they started a discussion about some obscure Russian Ethereal creatures. The movie was pretty lackluster, although Anya did her best to heckle it. Really, you have no idea how Lucas managed to mess up the Indiana Jones prequel trilogy so badly.
"This isn't fair," You complain. "I mean, I understand Anya, but you too Lara? You don't even have a coat on, why aren't you cold too?" Before Lara can respond, you are distracted by something almost like a ripple traveling through the Ethereal.
The bricks in the walls behind you shatter as a monster made sagging clay and dirt and flesh burst through. It's eyes are red fire, and the clay and flesh surrounding them melt. Its skull is showing, and the Hebrew scrawled upon its forehead is impossible to make it. It charges towards you three, and for a moment, as you look into its burning eyes, you are overwhelmed with fear. A hysteria bubbles up from within your chest, and you aren't sure whether you're trying to scream or laugh.
You catch a glimpse of Lara, the tattoo around her neck glowing a dull orange, as she leans forward and exhales a cone of fire onto the creature. As soon as the creature's terrible gaze is broken by the conflagration, your sudden panic subsides.
"You alright Soheil?" Anya asks, standing almost protectively in front of you. Your chest in heaving, you feel like vomiting and you can't manage enough breath for speaking. Lara is further away and to your right, and even with her concealing sweatshirt on, you can see her hands have nearly become talons, and that she exhales smoke.
The monster, engulfed in fire, ripples once more and you can feel it's entry into the Ethereal. Seconds later, it exits behind you once more, looking scorched but not much worse for the wear. You clutch your charms, prepare yourself, and make sure not to look in its eyes.
Choose Two
[X] Use your Chained Artifice.
== [X] How? (Write in)
[X] Activate your Encircling Aegis. It protects you primarily from attacks Ethereal in nature, but a little defense is better than none.
[X] Summon the Dust Devil. Your charm isn't likely to do much damage against the creature, but perhaps you can delay it? The Dust Devil shouldn't take much damage against the creatures physical strength…
[X] Defend yourself with Second Skin.
==[X] Use Second Skin on someone else? (Choose Who)
[X] Attack with Hail.
[X] Jury Rig a Charm to help.
==[X] How? (Write in)
[X] Try Something Else
==[X] (Write in)
(Well then. This encounter is a little... big. It also has a gaze attack that induces full blown terror, and after prolonged exposure the victim will try to kill themselves to escape it, if anyone was wondering. If you're choosing an option with a little "==[X] (Write in)" after an option, that means you should also write a general idea of what you're going to do, btw. It doesn't need to be too complex.)
