I'm proposing a new plan for the heresy lovers:

[X] Plan: Losing my religion
-[X] [SPECIES] Human
-[X] [BACKGROUND] Temple Orphan
-[X] [SPECIALTY] Angelic Apostate

Temple Orphan and Angelic Apostate are super synergistic.TO gives us the religion knowledge and lore to complete AA related quests, wich we will get by existing. TO will probably get us skills that will be usefull for our AA specialty.
I added Human as species because the gods will hate us, but the Omnipresent innate skill will allons us to make friends with everyone else, giving us chances for allies.

Personally, I'm most interested in Felixar and Bhomon as species. I was hoping for a Felixar / Tranquil Village / Protector or a Bhomon / Tranquil Village / Alchemist.

In terms of species, I think a nonhumanoid like the Felixar just has so many interesting possibilities for things that can happen, especially given the full dive VRMMO premise. That's really fascinating to me. Bhomon seems quite interesting, too.

In terms of jobs, I'm less interested in the magic-types at the moment. Seeing a Felixar in close quarters combat would be interesting, and it would be neat to see how they'd use those abilities, whereas alchemist seems like the best fit for Bhomon.

Out of the backgrounds, I like Tranquil Village best.

Given how the votes have gone, I think the best I can hope for out of what I'd most like is Felixar / Tranquil Village / Gun Archivist, so my votes are as follows:

[X] [SPECIES] Felixar
[X] [BACKGROUND] Tranquil Village
[X] [SPECIALTY] Gun Archivist

If someone else really wants tranquil village as a background or gun archivist as a specialty, who would plan vote but who has not yet voted for Plan: I Shoot For The Trees, a vote for that plan could swing things (with Felixar as the species, given my votes here, which would tiebreak). <3

To make a case for Tranquil Village... I know it's kind of stereotypical, but I think that's part of its charm. Having a species like a Felixar come from that kind of background... I think they're just a good fit for one another, in a way that's pleasant and fun. Admittedly, I was imagining it going with a wilder, more melee-centric character type (even more stereotypical!), but I can see the amusement of the gunslinger background linked to that setting (as others have mentioned).

Shooting the trees as a plan was borne to help bring about a zen sniper. Meditator on guns and collecting them.

Also I just find the concept of a gun-nut wood elf hilarious, as already stated.

I'd have maybe picked Felixar, but they do gots anatomy problems.

Whatever wins I'm sure will be interesting ^..^, though I must also plug my own plan.

Vote Trees!

...and it's a three-way tie.

Of course.

Want to start planning the next update, so I'll have to break the tie somehow. I'll think on the best way.
Here is an option: I can switch my vote from my plan(gun cat) to noble night predator to break the tie

Tie Breaking
Actually, after poring over the votes, figuring out where people overlapped, and more importantly where they didn't, my proposal:

Felixar Gun Archivist, Eclipse background locked to a Noble and Tranquil Astral Sorcerer. This way there's still a chance to get some of the Noble, Astral, and Tranquil choices, and you can reroll fish with Luck if you want.

Felixar won the species vote outright, in that 14/25 people voted for something with Felixar, with Hicys and Bhomon at 8. Astral Sorcerer and Gun Archivist were neck and neck (11 to 12), but if I went for Felixar Astral Sorcerer, more people got neither the Species or Specialty they wanted. When swapping to Felixar Gun Archivist, fewer people were left totally in the cold.

Bending the setup for a dual-background parent is just because neither Noble nor Tranquil were ahead in the number of people who chose them.

And the Eclipse change I'm happy to fiat, given these circumstances.

I'm gonna start prep work on the next update (those core nodes aren't gonna roll themselves), but if this is a terrible no good very bad idea make your opinion known in the meantime. If it's particularly unpopular I can change my mind.

And reminder: you'll get something to mitigate the thumbs issue vis a vis your class. Not overall, but the combo itself won't fuck you.

I respect your position as the QM of the quest, and accept that you have the final say in all things related to it. However, for the record I would like to state that both versions of Night Predator were created more for a desired playstyle (that being that being an assassin/burst mage striking from ambush) rather than anything else, and that twice as many people voted for that playstyle than the next highest contender of shooting people with guns.

That's actually not how the numbers shake out. The actual number of people who went for sneaky burst mage and didnt choose a gun option is only 7.

I think you may have missed a vote somewhere. When I count, I see 16 total votes for the Astral/Felixar combo vs. 16 total votes for Gun/Anything.

A bunch of those votes were from people voting for multiple plans at once though. If we cut it down so each person only gets one vote on each side, I count 12 votes for the Astral/Felixar combo against 12 votes for Gun Archivist/Anything. Tied again.

There were a group of voters who signaled they were okay with either by voting for both a plan with the combo and a plan with Gun Archivist. If we narrow the tally to those who voted for one side and did want the other, I count 8 people who voted for Astral/Felixar and nothing with Gun Archivist in it, against 8 people who voted for any combination with Gun Archivist and didn't vote for Astral/Felixar.

We got a perfect tie all the way down.

Five of the people who voted for Astral Felixar also voted for a gun plan. 7 - 12 = 5. You're off by one.

And yes, it was very close. I went over the numbers just above. That was why I tie-broke it, in the direction that leads to the fewest people getting nothing of what they want. And you're still getting a bite at the apple with Eclipse.

Tried three alternative tally methods. Scroll to the bottom for tl;dr.

Method1 : Count by each voters' most chosen option:
I went through each post and counted line items. For those people who voted for multiple plans, I picked the line item that appeared the most. If there was a tie between more than one then I divided the vote so that each of those options had a fraction of a vote.

So for example if a person had voted:
[x] Night tortoise
-[x] [SPECIES] Tortolan
-[X] [BACKGROUND] Eclipsed Orphan
-[X] [SPECIALTY] Astral Mage
[x] Alchemical Tortoise
-[x] [SPECIES] Tortolan
-[X] [BACKGROUND] Noble Scion
-[X] [SPECIALTY] Arcane Alchemist
[X] Plan: Noble Glassy Grenadier
-[X] [SPECIES] Bhomon
-[X] [BACKGROUND] Noble Scion
-[X] [SPECIALTY] Arcane Alchemist
[X] Plan: Noble Night Predator
-[X] [SPECIES] Felixar
-[X] [BACKGROUND] Noble Scion
-[X] [SPECIALTY] Astral Mage

Then I would count that as a vote for Tortolan and Noble Scion because those appear the most out of their categories, and half a vote each for Arcane Alchemist and Astral Mage, because they appear an equal number of times each.
[Species]:
1. Felixar: 12.5
2. Hicys: 4.5
2. Bhomon: 4.5
4. Tortolan: 2
5. Human: 1.5
[Background]:
1. Eclipsed Orphan: 10
2. Noble Scion: 7
3. Tranquil Village: 6.5
4. Station Rat: 1
5. Temple Orphan: 0.5
[Specialty]:
1. Gun Archivist: 11
2. Astral Mage: 7.5
3. Arcane Alchemist: 4
4. Angelic Apostate: 1.5
5. Protector: 1

Method 2: Negative points for non-chosen options:
For each option that was not mentioned in any of the voter's plans, I assigned one negative point. So for example this vote:

[x] Night tortoise
-[x] [SPECIES] Tortolan
-[X] [BACKGROUND] Eclipsed Orphan
-[X] [SPECIALTY] Astral Mage
[x] Alchemical Tortoise
-[x] [SPECIES] Tortolan
-[X] [BACKGROUND] Noble Scion
-[X] [SPECIALTY] Arcane Alchemist
[X] Plan: Noble Glassy Grenadier
-[X] [SPECIES] Bhomon
-[X] [BACKGROUND] Noble Scion
-[X] [SPECIALTY] Arcane Alchemist
[X] Plan: Noble Night Predator
-[X] [SPECIES] Felixar
-[X] [BACKGROUND] Noble Scion
-[X] [SPECIALTY] Astral Mage

Would have had 1 negative vote assigned each to Human, Hicys, Station Rat, Tranquil Village, Temple Orphan, Protector, Gun Archivist, and Angelic Apostate.
[Species]:
1. Felixar: -10
2. Hicys: -17
3. Bhomon: -17
4. Human: -21
5. Tortolan: -23
[Background]:
1. Eclipsed Orphan: -12
2. Noble Scion: -14
3. Tranquil Village: -15
4. Station Rat: -24
5. Temple Orphan: -24
[Specialty]:

1. Astral Mage: -13
2. Gun Archivist: -14
3. Arcane Alchemist: -19
4. Angelic Apostate: -22
5. Protector: -24

Method 3: Weighted Average of each vote:
The number of times each line item appears in a vote is divided by the total number of line items from that category which appear in the vote. For example, this vote:

[x] Night tortoise
-[x] [SPECIES] Tortolan
-[X] [BACKGROUND] Eclipsed Orphan
-[X] [SPECIALTY] Astral Mage
[x] Alchemical Tortoise
-[x] [SPECIES] Tortolan
-[X] [BACKGROUND] Noble Scion
-[X] [SPECIALTY] Arcane Alchemist
[X] Plan: Noble Glassy Grenadier
-[X] [SPECIES] Bhomon
-[X] [BACKGROUND] Noble Scion
-[X] [SPECIALTY] Arcane Alchemist
[X] Plan: Noble Night Predator
-[X] [SPECIES] Felixar
-[X] [BACKGROUND] Noble Scion
-[X] [SPECIALTY] Astral Mage

would be counted has half a vote to Tortolan, Arcane Alchemist, and Astral Mage; one quarter vote for Felixar, and Bhomon; and three quarter vote for Noble Scion.
[Species]:
1. Felixar: 10.9
2. Hicys: 5.4
3. Bhomon: 5.2
4. Human: 2.0
5. Tortolan: 1.5
[Background]:
1. Eclipsed Orphan: 8.9
2. Tranquil Village: 7.4
3. Noble Scion: 7.2
4. Station Rat: 1
5. Temple Orphan: 0.5
[Specialty]:

1. Gun Archivist: 9.8
2. Astral Mage: 8.0
3. Arcane Alchemist: 4.3
4. Angelic Apostate: 1.9
5. Protector: 1

Summary/tl;dr:
Felixar and Eclipsed Orphan stayed in the lead in all three methods.
For specialties, Gun Archivist was the option that held the most attention (method 1 and method 3), while Astral Mage was the option ignored the least (method 2).

While I respect the author's desire to give as many questers what they want as possible, I can't help but feel that it violates the very logic of voting. Sometimes trying to give everyone what they want results in no one getting what they want. I would probably prefer a second round of voting in this situation.
