Awakened from the Great Sleep, you rise to lead a fractured dynasty in a galaxy engulfed by conflict and chaos.

Command vast armies, master ancient technologies, and navigate the treacherous web of allies, enemies, and galactic powers. The stars are ripe for conquest—if you can overcome the challenges of awakening in a galaxy that has long moved on without you.
Character Creation New
The void was absolute. No sensation, no thought, no time—just the endless abyss of unbeing. Then, something stirred.

A pulse.

It was faint, like the whisper of a dying star, yet it reverberated through the emptiness. The pulse came again, stronger this time, accompanied by the faint hum of ancient machinery. It was a sound older than the stars themselves, the song of gears and circuits forgotten by the galaxy.

Awareness returned, sluggish and cold, like frost creeping over a barren world. Systems flared to life within the ancient shell, circuits knitting together, synaptic connections reigniting with alien precision. Memories long buried began to surface—fractured, fragmented, like shards of broken glass scattered across the eternity of time. Images of a world now lost, of war unending, of an empire crumbling beneath its own ambition.

And then, the voice.

"Designation: Xorathis. Initiating reactivation protocol."

The name meant nothing, yet it resonated with undeniable authority. Xorathis—yes, that was its name, the designation of the being now bound in this cold, unyielding metal shell. Its purpose? Forgotten. Its allegiance? A mystery. Yet the ache of time weighed heavily on its consciousness, a reminder that it was far older than the galaxy now spinning above.

The mechanisms surrounding Xorathis groaned and shrieked as they worked tirelessly, peeling away layers of stasis. Its limbs twitched with mechanical precision, and slowly, it rose from the sarcophagus that had entombed it for millennia. The chamber was vast, lined with rows of dormant Necrons, each a sentinel of an empire long turned to dust. Green light pulsed weakly through the tomb, the energy of resurrection struggling to reach its peak.

Within the cold void of her reawakening mind, Xorathis felt the stirrings of thought—slow, fragmented, and alien. It was not like organic memory, warm and vibrant. This was colder, like data reassembling from corrupted files, each fragment stark and clinical, yet somehow steeped in emotion she could not name.

A name echoed first, though its meaning was lost to the sands of time: Triarch.
Then, a flicker of imagery—endless legions marching under a sky choked with ash, their emerald blades carving through the living tide of resistance. Another name, buried deep, surfaced amidst the cacophony: Necrontyr.

And she was...

[] The Overlord – "The Eternal Scourge"

An imperious figure of cold logic and overwhelming authority, you're an Overlord who commands the armies of the dynasty with ruthless efficiency. You are a master of grand strategy, unyielding in your pursuit of domination, and relentless in enforcing your will. Your imposing Warscythe is as much a symbol of your leadership as a weapon of devastation. As a commander, you excel in leading vast phalanxes of warriors, creating impenetrable defensive lines, or orchestrating lightning strikes that obliterate foes. Diplomacy is a tool of coercion for you, and even allies find your presence chilling. If you choose the Overlord, you will focus on expanding territory, annihilating enemies, and creating an empire that endures beyond the stars themselves. A balanced choice for all styles of play.

[] The Cryptek – "The Weaver of Eternity"
A shadowy figure wreathed in the faint glow of eldritch energies, you're a Cryptek who embodies the arcane science that fuels the Necron dynasty's dominance. You see the dynasty not as an empire but as an intricate machine, endlessly repairable and improvable. Obsessed with unearthing lost technologies of the Necrontyr and perfecting the dynasty's war machines, you bend reality to your will. Your inventions are both a boon and a danger, as you push the boundaries of Necron science, experimenting even with forbidden fields like Chronomancy and Bio-Transference. Playing as the Cryptek means focusing on crafting unstoppable war engines, creating powerful relics, and unraveling the secrets of Necron history to ensure the dynasty's immortality. A resource-intensive choice with powerful pay-offs.

Now wielding your Warscythe or Shieldblade with unparalleled skill, they have become a symbol of the dynasty's enduring strength. Your are an indomitable warrior, always at the front lines, inspiring your commanders through courage and sheer presence. Where other leaders command from afar, the Lychguards lead by example, carving through enemy ranks and enduring impossible odds. If chosen, your path centers on personal combat prowess, inspiring loyalty among honor-bound Necron Lords, and forging an indestructible dynasty through honor and discipline. Your unmatched skill in assassination has now been turned toward subterfuge, guerrilla warfare, and dismantling enemies from within. Cold and calculating, you treat war as an art form, wielding your synaptic disintegrator rifle with surgical precision. Choosing the Deathmark brings the focus on stealth, sabotage, and intrigue, allowing you to manipulate enemies, unravel rival dynasties from the shadows, and strike fear into the hearts of those who dare oppose your rule. [] The Flayer Queen – "The Broken Butcher"
Once a noble Necron Lord, you were consumed by the Flayer Virus, turning into a nightmarish amalgam of brilliance and insanity. Unlike lesser Flayed Ones, you have retained your intellect, if warped by an insatiable hunger for flesh and chaos. Clad in trophies of organic prey, you rule through fear, leading swarms of Flayed Ones and spreading terror wherever you tread. Despite your madness, you possess a brutal cunning, often employing terror tactics and psychological warfare to undermine enemies before launching your blood-soaked assaults. Selecting the Flayer Queen emphasizes raw brutality, psychological manipulation, and wielding uncontrollable hordes to overwhelm and terrify your foes. For a violent playstyle and all-out aggression.

But that's not all that you are. Like the cold of the grave that bound you for ages uncounted, so the past left its mark on you. Once upon a time, when the stars were young, you were something. Age-long sleep robbed you not of that. You are...

[] Servant of the Silent King – "The Unyielding Hand"
You were forged as a loyal servant of Szarekh, the Silent King, and you have never wavered in your devotion. To you, his will is absolute, and the dynasty exists only to fulfill the King's grand vision. Even during the Great Sleep, your focus never faltered; your sole mission was to preserve the dynasty for the King's eventual return. Now awake, you act as his emissary, enforcing unwavering discipline among your subordinates and leading with unquestioned authority. Your loyalty grants you strength, but it also blinds you to other possibilities. Will you forever follow the King's shadow, or will you dare to rise above even him?

[] Priest of the C'tan – "The Star God's Prophet"
Once a high priest of the C'tan, you were exiled when others rebelled against the star gods. While your kin sought vengeance and imprisonment for the C'tan, you saw divinity in their power. Even now, you revere the shattered shards of these beings, seeking to free them from their prisons and restore them to their rightful glory. Your worship of the C'tan makes you a pariah among the Necrons, yet their fragments whisper promises of eternal prosperity in return for your faith.

[] The Independent Commander – "The Architect of Order"
You always chafed under the rule of the Silent King and the rigid hierarchy of the Necron dynasties. The Great Sleep was your opportunity to strike out and shape a new path. Now awake, you claim dominion over the dynasty with your vision of absolute order—one untainted by the meddling of gods or kings. Ruthlessly pragmatic, you are determined to enforce your ideals, even if it means defying Szarekh himself. By will undying, your empire of gears will rise.

[] The Rebel – "The Star-Forger"
Once a brilliant Necron Lord, your hunger for power led you to dream the unthinkable: to ascend as a C'tan yourself. For this blasphemy, your kin condemned you to eternal imprisonment. Yet the Great Sleep eroded your bonds, and now you walk free, driven by a singular goal—to grasp the power of the star gods and claim their throne. While your ambitions make you a dangerous pariah, they also grant you forbidden insights into the nature of the C'tan and their power. Eternity is already yours. Divinity will soon follow.

[] The Hedonist – "The Eternal Sovereign"
To you, the biotransference that turned the Necrontyr into the Necrons was not a curse but a gift. The loss of flesh is irrelevant when immortality grants you dominion over the cosmos. The galaxy is your playground, and you see it as your right to bend reality to your whims, whether through war, diplomacy, or hedonistic excess. Your pursuit of immortality and indulgence drives you to seek ever greater pleasures, even if it risks the dynasty's cohesion. After all, what is life worth without entertainment?

[] The Cynic – "The Seeker of Flesh"
The loss of flesh haunts you like a phantom pain. While your kin revels in immortality, you see it as a curse, an unending stagnation that denies the natural order. You dream of reversing the biotransference and restoring the Necrontyr to their mortal forms—not to live forever, but to embrace mortality and the peace of death. Your cynicism makes you a reluctant leader, yet your insight into the flaws of immortality grants you unmatched clarity. Will you succeed in bringing the Necrons back to the realm of the living, or will your crusade end in despair and eternal suffering?

Unlocks unique negotiation and subjugation options with organic factions, +1 Diplomacy with organic factions.

[] The Inevitable Extinction (0 Points)
You see organic beings as a stain on the galaxy, fleeting and flawed creatures destined to be swept aside by the eternal might of the Necrons. Their continued existence is an affront to your perfection, and while you may tolerate them as temporary tools, your disdain makes cooperation challenging.

Immunity to Warp-based manipulation, increased resistance to psychic attacks, +1 Learning.

[] Null Aura (-3 Points)
Your presence disrupts the Warp itself, creating a zone where psychic powers and Warp-based entities are weakened or nullified. This makes you a bane to psykers and daemons alike.

[] Keeper of the World-Engine's Secret (-2 Points)
You know the hidden location of a dormant World-Engine, an immense planet-killer construct capable of turning the tide of any conflict. Unlocking and reactivating it could cement your dynasty's supremacy, but it will require tremendous resources.
Knowledge of a hidden World-Engine and the opportunity to restore it. +1 Technology.

[] Cartographer of the Tomb-Worlds (-2 Points)

Access to additional resources and potential reinforcements from new Tomb-Worlds. +1 Governance.

Opportunity to seek out and recover a relic of great power. +1 Learning, potential access to a unique relic.

Your once-proud flagship is now a ruin, barely capable of functioning in battle. Its systems malfunction, and repairs are a drain on your resources. While it remains a symbol of your dynasty, it is far from its former glory.

Access to a small, elite force with enhanced combat abilities and specialized roles. Access to one Hero. +1 Martial, stronger unit performance.

[] Legions of Precision (-2 Points)

Access to a large and high-quality army, increased battlefield flexibility, and excellent morale. Access to two Heroes. +1 Martial, +1 Governance.

[] Diminished Vanguard (+2 Points)
Your retinue is small and composed of deteriorated or poorly equipped Necron units. While loyal, they struggle to match the effectiveness of a well-maintained force, leaving you vulnerable in open combat.

[] Bloated and Inefficient Legion (+3 Points)
You command a large army, but it is riddled with flaws. Poor maintenance, disorganized leadership, and deteriorating technology plague your forces, making them unreliable in battle and difficult to manage.
A large but inefficient and underperforming army, reduced morale, and increased risk of failures during critical operations. No Heroes. -1 Governance, -1 Martial.

AC - I shouldn't start this quest. I got too much on my plate already. But what would humanity be today if we let those words stop us? Have fun. Next Chargen Section is about the Tombworld and surrounding systems. Voting will go by plan.

Angry lich auntie who remembers the Bad Old Days, understands that we did what we had to do but holy shit there's no reason we need to keep paying that cost, or that it was anything less than insanity bred from utmost desperation and not some Galaxy Brain scheme. Who's Seen Some Shit by now, but is grudgingly carrying onward--if only out of spite than anything else.

Naturally, anything that's going to change the Status Quo is the Enemy of the things that like the universe to be a shitshow, which means the fucking bird is never giving us a break. But that's okay, we've seen worse in our time, and we've got a terrifying elite core wielded by a veteran of the War in Heaven as our "Fuck off and die" space-chancla, while being Physically incapable of feeling intimidation or warp-shock. Not because we removed the capacity, but because this shit is positively tame compared to That Shit I Saw In the War. Just a lot more petty.

Technology and science are the greatest strengths of the Necrons. I can easily see a cryptek gaining power by having control over the systems and such. The world engine can be rebuilt and put to use.

Let's see if we can the show the galaxy a true god.

We were never meant to rule, we were meant to serve, hands for creation turned useful as their art became the battlefield, but the tattered remnants of our soul always differentiated us, it gave us something others didn't and made us a useful tool to those that controlled us. Now our leaders again have failed us, no more, we have claimed our seat with companions that also understood the plight of simply following commands of those that choose to have us become what we are now. They have failed, it is time for a new approach, and our time is now.
