Thanks for answering my questions! It seems I have one more before I'm satisfied. How would you handle songs that ramp up? A song that starts light and becomes dark? Do you treat it as a dark because it turns into one?
That's a tough one and as usual, my response is that there's no hard and fast rule. I'll be judging songs as I listen to them, and seeing what they inspire in me.
@RexHeller

What would the song Fuck you have done to Taylor?
I'd rather not describe my ideas for songs that don't win. Just because it doesn't win, that doesn't mean it's locked out forever. The only songs you can't vote for again are those that win and get discarded, so I don't want to spoil potential songs. I described Do Ya Thing somewhat earlier and I regret that. Fuck You is a slightly more complicated situation, as I already had a plan for it to come up later than when it was suggested. All I'll say about it is that my initial idea for it wouldn't have gotten you out of the locker, but if I took the animation into account, you probably would have gotten out.

You know given we can set playlists we could 100% figure out a way to communicate with Taylor if only through indirect means. Such as playing action scene music when there's someone that's an enemy is nearby. It'd also open up a lot of teasing opportunities via playing either sappy romantic music or cheesy porn music when a person Taylor could "like" steps onto scene.

Also Fluffy tail that is all.

So basically if we drop either of our current playlist they're dead forever. If we play a trump card song and she doesn't like it it'll never come back.

That does add some question of what to add when, then.

Also brings a question of whether we could "revive" playlists through replacing songs with covers or remixes. Would definitely give the powers a different "flavor" so to speak.

I won't say what you're suggesting is impossible, but don't abuse that fact by spamming different version of the same song, other wise I'll take that ability away.

Actually, you probably won't be going as fast as you think. I had to make City Escape and Sonic Boom different after all.

You also have to account for differences in duration. One example I'll cite is The Church on the Hill, as, depending on what version/remix you're looking at, its length can vary from a little over a minute and a half to about three and a half minutes.

Honestly unless Taylor goes face to face with leviathan there's pretty much no situation where a song swap will lower her strength so much she does for it. Song length is such a small issue by comparison to getting a good playlist for "survive the next hit".

Escaping her troubles

As soon as Taylor heard the first few notes of her new song, she knew it was going to be a fun one. Grinning, she looked around and started to see paths all around her. Jump up that trash bin, kick of that wall, pull up that downspout and flip over that gutter and she'd be on the roof of a nearby house. Feeling lucky she had decided to wear a hoodie today, she pulled her hood up to hide her face a little, and then she began to move. Following the path she had seen, she was on the roof in seconds. Letting loose a joy-filled cheer, Taylor began to run.

She still didn't have any real goal in mind, although she was moving slowly towards a Downtown/Boardwalk direction. But really, Taylor was running for the fun of it. Hurdling air conditioner units, leaping between buildings, rolling to conserve momentum, swinging around street lights and using them as springboards… Taylor had never had so much fun in her life. If she hadn't been busy keeping her breathing even, she would have been laughing at the top of her lungs.

"Hey! Stop!"

Unfortunately, somebody always wanted to rain on her parade. For a moment, Taylor was tempted to ignore the voice and just keep running, but the only people that would be able to talk to her up there were capes, and she didn't feel like getting into a fight.

Skidding to a stop, Taylor looked around with annoyance. Standing on a floating rock, trailing behind her, was a girl in a flowing black and red robe. Her hood was deeper than Taylor's own and it deliberately hid most of her face in shadow.

"If you think you can get away with this, you must be an idiot!" The girl's voice was actually pretty high-pitched, almost squeaky. Taylor couldn't see her face, but judging just from her voice, Taylor would say the Cape was actually even younger than she was.

"I'm sorry, but who are you?" Taylor said, letting some boredom leak into her voice. Crossing her arms, she began to tap her foot impatiently. She knew she shouldn't go pissing off other parahumans, but all she really wanted to was get back to running. Standing around and talking wasn't interesting at all.

"What the- I'm Rune! I'm part of the Empire 88!" The girl actually stomped her foot in frustration, making her floating platform wobble dangerously and forcing the girl, Rune, to throw her arms out to keep balance.

"Never heard of you." Taylor said honestly.

"Haven't... " Even from the small amount of Rune's face that Taylor could see, she could tell that the Rune was disappointed. The teenage nazi recovered a moment later and pointed an angry finger at Taylor. "Whatever! I'm not about to just let some random Cape run around Empire territory."

"And what makes you so sure I'm a Cape?" Taylor asked before yawning, both for effect and out of actual boredom.

"W-What?"

"I mean, do you see a mask or anything?" Taylor gestured at her naked, but still slightly obscured, face.

"But what about all those flips and stuff you were doing?" Rune asked, deflating where she stood.

"I do it for the exercise." Taylor responded flippantly.

"Wait, so you were doing that without powers?" Rune's tone developed a layer of wonder. "That's so cool! Can you teach me how to do that?"

In her mind, Taylor had a flash of panic. She couldn't teach Rune anything because she wasn't sure how she was doing herself. And excuse she gave would sound lame and probably untrue. Thinking quickly, she deflected. "Shouldn't you be in school?"

"Shouldn't you?" Rune fired back.

"I have a doctor's note. What's your excuse?"

Rune placed her hands hips and smiled smugly. "I'm an important member of the Empire. I can do what I want."

Taylor just smirked. "I thought the Empire advertised itself as noble and dignified. Skipping school sounds like something a lazy delinquent might do."

"Urk." Rune actually flinched at that, making Taylor burst out laughing.

She stopped laughing a moment later when her song cut out. Without the bored confidence her music had given her, Taylor suddenly realized that she was stuck on a roof with a nazi supervillain with unknown powers. Worse, she was a teenager and Taylor knew just how awful teenagers could be, even if Rune seemed like a bit of a goof at the moment.

In a frightened rush, Taylor reached for another song.

Song: Escape From The City - Ted Poley and Tony Harnell
Power: Highly enhanced balance, agility and coordination and instinctive parkour path-finding.
Attitude: Freespirited. Taylor just wants to run and explore. Anything other than that bores her and being trapped, without the ability to move, would drive her crazy. Taylor also tends not to worry while the song is playing, acting carefree instead.

Save to Playlist?

[] No - Escape From The City will be discarded permanently
[] Yes
-[] Overwrite Track 1 - Connect will be discarded permanently
-[] Overwrite Track 2 - I Burn will be discarded permanently

Vote for a song. Taylor will not chose one of her playlist songs this time, as both have visual effects that would reveal her parahuman nature to Rune.

This strikes me as a potentially foolish move, but that's precisely why I'm voting for it. We're not trying to "win" here; or rather, we win by making things interesting. Losing Connection has the potential to complicate things for Taylor, but honestly, things are complicated enough, what with Emma having been the first person Taylor connected to.

I can see Emma reacting in two ways: She denies it, says it was just her imagination and pretends to forget about it, or else she tells Sophia about it and the two get paranoid about possible Master/Stranger influence. Either way, interesting. Either way, we win!

And if losing long-distance communication is a real problem, she can always get a regular cell phone. I think Danny would probably decide she should have one anyway, even if he has to swallow his aversion to do it.

New Song?
[X] Road Runner Song

It's really short -- only a minute and eighteen seconds -- but it's precisely what Taylor needs right now. In addition to the Mover aspect, I think it'd give her a Shaker power that causes everyone who wants to hurt her to suffer Coyote effects, as well as gaining cartoonish damage resistance. And if we're keeping Escape From The City, it's easily disposable.

Even better, going Road Runner on Rune for that long and no longer would likely piss off the Empire...which is, once again, a plus for us. It's interesting.
