Each Star is a Point of Light-A Destiny/Mass Effect Fusion

One thing I do have to ask is, what was your plan with the reapers, regarding revealing them. Like, you had the thing with Nazara and Leviathan at one point, but then they didn't seem to get mentioned very much until the end. It might just be my shitty reading comprehension, but I assume you had a plan to sort of slowly build them up in the background?

Yeah, the big reason I didn't have it that much in the outline was that my plans never truly coalesced into a storyline (I looked at my outline and figured I had plenty of time to figure it out). It was going to be a slow ramp up with the Rannoch arc being the first time we see them beginning to move. Then we would have started seeing hints of them moving against the Hive. Guardians would show up to Hive bases only to find them destroyed or already on high alert like they'd already been attacked.

The Collectors would have become active around the time Dead Orbit actually started making extra-solar colonies but with them attacking isolated colonies of every race and staging them to look like Hive attacks to cover for their activities and the fight at the Collector Base would have been a full on major battle that marked the first time the City's small fleet worked with a Citadel fleet.

Unfortunately, beyond that I didn't have a lot of ideas. Again, I thought I had a lot of time to come up with something.

Shame, good Destiny fics are few and far between, but I know all too well working on a story that you don't have any passion for anymore is tortuous.

Thanks for what you gave us though, truly.

Honestly, I figured you'd do the entire Destiny 1 game, then go to the Hive attacking the Citadel species.

Of course, the Red War will be hard to take into account.

How is it for someone who only knows NGE by the memes and mainly wants destiny stuff?

I tried to make it so that those who are uninitiated in either fandom would be able to follow along.

True, you'd get a lot more appreciation if you knew about NGE, but the backstory canon was altered enough as a result of the crossover that I had to explain a number of things regardless. As is, there's plenty of stuff for pure Destiny fans to appreciate, in my personal opinion.

Note: Sorry about that, questions are still open I'm just hard at work with the new project along with some important real life stuff.

That was actually the original plan. We'd go through vanilla Destiny with some alterations to the Black Garden/Vault of Glass (Tali's development regarding AI would have been tied into The Last Array), then Dark Below. House of Wolves would have been interesting because the hunt for Skolas wouldn't have been in this story, it would have been the second story arc of the Fireteam RWBY idea that I considered before scrapping it (which also would contain the Venus' Fallen arc in vanilla Destiny) but there would have been a full arc involving Taniks the Scarred. Then we would have gone into Taken King then head into the Hive War arc.

The thing is I realized that would make a shitty crossover.

See in my opinion, the fun of crossovers (in particular the fusions I adore) is exploring either the changes caused by two different setting colliding or the various culture shocks, alien points of view, and all the changes in characters and worldbuilding that comes from that. And most of the Destiny 1 story arcs would have just been...Destiny 1 with ME characters. Now there would have been that storyline of the Citadel members of the cast getting used to the City but eventually they'd just adapt. Like Fry in Futurama, this strange environment would have become home and then its just normal.

Now, don't get me wrong, a Destiny 1 novelization with better plot structure, worldbuilding, and actual characters (preferably some kind of ensemble) would be super fun and I hope somebody writes it someday. But it wasn't what I wanted to write and it wasn't the product I was advertising. Besides this was when the uncertainty about the future of the fic was starting to set in and if the plan I revealed in the final post was going to take the better part of 10 years to finish then the original plan would have taken the better part of 20. I seriously sliced out 6-8 books when I sliced out all the Destiny 1 stuff.

Now, someday I might put up a quick summary post about what I had planned for D1 books but for now just know that I sliced it out (except for very key flashbacks involving King's Fall and The Last Array) for good reasons.

Yeah taking year 1 Destiny apart, and putting it back together as a coherent narrative would be kind of a Herculean task. Herculean ,but doable.

I think the trick would be to take what they did with the Year One content post Taken King, and build on that.

Cut-scenes, In Game dialog, Grimoire cards, quest flavor text, some of the revised Strike dialog they put in Rise of Iron/ Age of Triumph, edit the order of events so it makes some kind of linear sense, and then finally all original content to act as convective tissue. You would need a research team to help pull it all together. It would no doubt be fun though.

Really the ultimate product would have to be something like Freemen's Mind.
