His body executes the practiced motions of Autumn Leaf Cutter, cutting into the monster's arm and leg. The beast recoils, but his followup slash fails to find purchase in its shaggy fur.
Gaius is right behind him, going to the bull-ape thing's left and thrusting at the air. A pointed shockwave slaps the monster across the face before he moves in, stabbing into the point where fur gives way to bronze. He draws blood before he backs off, his spear braced should the monster go on the offensive.
The Fiend explodes into motion once it tires of being prodded, and, apparently having decided that he is the easier target, lashes out at Rean. The blow breaks through his guard and actually lifts him a few inches off the ground, though he manages to keep his feet underneath him.
"Applying Leverage."
Kyrie's whisper warns everyone of the black and purple mass that strikes the Fiend a moment later. A part of the creature's brazen torso caves in a little, but it remains on its feet even as the Art's energy crackles across its body.
"Stubborn…"
"K-keep it up everyone!" Shouts Elliot before he drives the end on his staff into the ground. The technique is the one he demonstrated against the gargoyle during the orienteering exercise, and Rean can feel its energy fortifying his body and bathing him in healing light. All accompanied by a ghostly hum of strings.

The fiend flinches away from the cut above its eye, the only damage that Rean's second display of the fourth Form manages to inflict. This time the followup finds flesh when he strikes the beast in the leg, but it doesn't seem close to falling yet.
Much like Rean, Gaius repeats his previous combination, scoring some superficial hits through the beast's defenses.
The highlander is pushed back when the beast powers through and vomits forth a thick fog. While he dances away from the spew, Rean is not so lucky. He lets out a cry as the cloud of filth solidifies on his face, especially his eyes, and from the noises Kyrie and Elliot are in the same boat as him.
"I don't like you."
The sound of another of Kyrie's Arts echoes through the chamber, and this time the fiend lets out a strangled cry before it collapses onto the floor. His senses tell him that it is far from dead, but it is still wide open.
Elliot takes the opportunity to scan it with one of his Orbal Staff's functions. Other than telling them what elements they should be using, it will also make it easier for them to unbalance it! "It resists fire and is weak to wind! That's all!" Shouts Elliot before his presence moves as to suggest that he is attacking it normally. Gaius, guided by the combat link, thrusts into the prone opponent a moment later, the spearpoint digging deep into the fiend's body.
Elliot might not be able to sense presences like Rean and Gaius can, but with a prone, stationary opponent the combat link can handle the rest.

The monster will never be as vulnerable as this. Rean forgoes his Crafts in favor of simply hitting the enemy while it is down and out. It tries to dazedly ward them off, but it is no use. His tachi bites deep, and Kyrie follows the urging of the combat link to slam her hammer into its head. First once, then twice.
"Bonk." She whispers between blows, tapping into Rean's senses through the ARCUS to 'see' the enemy.
Gaius and Elliot follow suit, their presences showing them working together to stab and bombard the prone fiend until there is a release of force. A vague, dark purple light pierces the coat of filth over Rean's eyes-
And then the fiend's presence completely vanishes.
They have won.
"W-we had quite the rhythm, didn't we?" Says Elliot shakily as he holds his fist up in Gaius's direction with a smile on his face.

"Subsidiary Beast dispersed." Chimes Kyrie evenly. "Has anything appeared? I cannot see. This substance covers my human eyes."

The humans at the Drinking House cried a lot and wanted to hug you when you explained your time in Zemuria before Rean came and took you back to the basement, but now that you have returned they seem to have calmed down.
Looking around you see that the small humans have left, so it is only you who will receive the extra guidance from the Drinking House humans.
Hybrid Sara comes to retrieve you as the sky reddens. "Hi there spacegirl! How was your first day of Sunday School?"
"It was informative." You answer unhesitatingly. "I think I understand humans a little more, maybe the Prime Light too. I look forward to tomorrow."
She blinks. "The what light?"
"Humans call Her Aidios."
"Aliens that worship Aidios…" Mutters the Hybrid with a shake of her head. "That decides it: I'm getting me some extra booze tonight."
You wouldn't call it worship, but the Hybrid isn't listening. If there is anything that the inhabitants of the Divergent Realms know, it is that the Prime Light cares nothing for them.
The house of Class VII is further away from Thors than the other two student houses, right next to the train station. Your room is on the third floor, across from the Hybrid's. You keep your possessions and your bed here. Sleep is a human thing, but now that you are human you have to sleep or your body will stop working.
There is little to do and no one to talk to right now, so you might as well.
*
The next day is your first proper day as a member of the human pod Class VII. The Chef gives everyone instructions to rise and bow when the Hybrid enters. Other School Humans come and go throughout the day, until the moment comes when an Incorporated Drinker enters the room.
You first sense their approach from the smell. Thick and pungent, it overpowers all other scents in the area. The stench robs you of your ability to concentrate. You can see the words on the wall, but they hold no meaning. The ink tool in your human hand creaks in your grip, unused since the moment you caught a whiff of that humid stench.
It eventually notices your distress. "Miss L'etranger, are you alright?"
You are not strong enough to disperse a proper Incorporated Drinker. Not yet, not while you can't remember your true self. You will…
Conflict makes things more interesting, so this will spice things up. And while he could kill us easily, that's not his style. So we can poke at this without fear.
Who knows, it might even get blamed on his drinking habits.
I appreciate Kyrie's 'Bonk' very much, thank you @Iceblocks. Normally, I wouldn't want to antagonize Instructor Thomas since he is quite a bit more powerful than he appears, but I think he might actually find it amusing.
Fie blinks lazily as the rest of the classroom stares in open shock at the new member of Class VII. Did the space alien just-
"I don't like you. The Drinker-stink is so strong and I don't know if you were the ones." The alien narrows its eyes at Instructor Thomas, creating an effect that is almost comical given its otherwise nauseated expression. "Did the Drinkers steal it? I don't remember."
For a moment, just for a moment, does Fie see Instructor Thomas' eyes sharpen dangerously behind his thick glasses.
And then the moment passes, and the instructor chuckles jovially. "My word! I didn't realize I had spilled some of drink on myself last night! Sorry, everyone!"
Fie doesn't buy it, of course. And if you forced her to guess, she would say that neither did anyone else in the classroom. Not that anyone knows enough to do more than whisper questions among themselves.
"Drinker stink…"
Other than the alien, that is.
"Yes, yes. Now, miss Millstein, if you could-"
**********
"Do something about Miss Kyrie?" Asks Thomas later after classes have concluded. "Why would I?"
His squire frowns as she hands him another book. "If it can identify you as a Dominion, and me as your squire, then it could likely identify all of them. The nations should not be able to have such oversight of the Gralsritter. Besides, it is a Divergent entity. If allowed to remember and regain its true power, the results could be catastrophic."
"True, true. But remember what an opportunity this is! A non-hostile Divergent being, here in my class!" A small, excited, laugh escapes his lips. "Just imagine the stories she could tell should she get her memories back! But…"
Thomas turns to regard his squire. "You said she knows about you?"
She nods. "Yes. I passed it in the hallway earlier today, and it looked at me as if I was some sort of disgusting thing. I didn't put two and two together until you told me what happened, however."
He slides his hand along the spines of the books lining the shelf before he finds the correct spot. "If she can truly smell us…I wonder if she might be able to smell other groups. And what of the mechanism? Is it truly smell, or can Miss Kyrie somehow sense my Stigma?"
His squire opens her mouth, but she is cut off by Thomas' speculation.
"No no, can't be that. She seems able to detect people affiliated with me in my role, not just people I spend time with. But why smell?" He shakes his head. "No. Not important."
"It's not?"
Thomas turns to regard his squire. "What is important is what Kyrie told me: Something has been stolen from her Divergent Realm, and she suspects that a Gralsritter took it. I will have to make inquiries."
His squire hums thoughtfully, but remains quiet as they continue their work. It is only at the end when she speaks up again. "But aren't you worried that it might influence the students? Or maybe even the authorities? There is no way that they are not aware of what Kyrie L'etranger is."
"Oh, I very much doubt that. Miss Kyrie is tactlessly honest once you get her to speak." He muses to the younger Gralsritter as he places the last book back onto its shelf. "And considering her difficulty in communicating, even with those she considers friendly, it is highly unlikely that she can move the hearts of anyone."

"A-and after eating dregs and leeches your whole life, y-you were finally let out of the basement only three weeks ago?"
Your human body tilts its head as a response to your confusion. "That is accurate, Cooking Pod Human."
The Cooking Pod Human's name is Margarita, and she is rubbing her face with a cloth because she is crying. This is a common response in humans that hear your story when you leave out your nature as an inhabitant of the Utterdark.
School Human Mary, the School Human in charge of the Cooking Club, is doing the same. As is the leader of the Cooking club over by the window.
It is enough for them to forgive your first attempt at cooking. Unlike in the Utterdark, one cannot simply stack components on top of each other and expect them to make a finished product on their own. One must follow the recipe outlined in the book that School Human Mary gave you. Fascinating.
"I have decided!" Declares Margarita, throwing her face-wiping cloth away with a forceful swing of her arm. "You shall suffer without an ally no more!"
She takes hold of one of your human hands. "Please, if you feel lost come see me. I will teach you everything that I know of cooking!"
You take a moment to consider it. Margarita smells human and want to help you with something that has caught your interest. "This is acceptable. I like this."
Margarita smiles brightly and drags you over to the orbal Cooking Machine to begin your instruction.
You can now boil eggs.

Days pass until it is time for the practical exam.
The Hybrid presents you and the others with an automaton and sets up teams to challenge it. You, Rean, Elliot and Gaius go first and handle it without problems. The other groups have three members.
The automaton is nothing worth remembering, beyond a disquieting whiff of…something.
Once every team has had their turn the Hybrid hands out sheets of paper. Your sheet says that you will be going to some place called Celdic, along with Rean, the girl who is angry at Rean, Elliot, and Laura the blue-haired girl.
Green-hair boy and yellow-hair boy, whose names you do not know, are angry with this.
The next day sees you without any special appointments after classes at the Academy, giving you more free time than has been usual the past week.
[] Margarita is nice. Spend more time with the cooking Club.
[] The Chef has offered additional lessons. Spend time with it.
[] The human hive of Trista remains unexplored thanks to your busy schedule. Time to change that.

I want to have her react more to the town, and this option might have her bump into Rean while he does his thing. All the options will probably give fun scenes like any bonding event.
@Iceblocks Could you clarify who the Chef is? I don't think they've been mentioned since one of the first updates; it doesn't seem to be a term Kyrie uses often.

...that's not a banned spoiler right? Pretty sure you learn that back in CS1/2 so it'd be fair game, but spoiling shit for people in this fandom is a dick move.
[X] Margarita is nice. Spend more time with the cooking Club.
Rean finds Kyrie while making a delivery to the Cooking Club. A box of EP charges that was meant for it were dropped off at the Photography Club by accident, so someone put in a request for the Student Council to handle it.
Why yes, the leader of the club was at the dorm sick while a subordinate made the request. He shakes his head as he hands the box over to the supposed alien, that Rex guy really rubs him the wrong way…
"Thank you Rean." Says Kyrie as she accepts the box from his arms. She/they takes a small whiff of the air while staring unblinkingly at him. "Nicholas was worried."
The leader of the Cooking Club throws Rean a jaunty wave as he follows Kyrie into the room. A stocky young noblewoman, standing by one of the Orbal stoves, nods in acknowledgement before she pours some broth into a cup for her to taste test.
"Is that the EP charges?" She asks, smiling as she looks at the box in Kyrie's hands. Her gaze lifts to meet Kyrie's eyes, but then she looks past them to give him a once over. "And who is this?"
Kyrie looks back at him expectantly, so he steps out from behind her to introduce himself. "Well, I am Rean Schwarzer. As you can see, I'm Kyrie's classmate." He pats his red Thors uniform for emphasis. "I think we've passed each other in the halls, Miss…"
"Margarita Dresden." Chuckles the noble girl. "Oh it is so good to know that Kyrie has friends to look out for her."
The supposed alien nods along. "Rean smells nice. So many others stink."
Margarita looks confused for a moment, but then realization seems to strike her. "She seems to think highly of you, Rean Schwarzer. I hope you will keep being patient with her, it must be hard for Kyrie to communicate with her condition."
What else can he do but chuckle nervously? What in Aidios' name has Kyrie been telling them?
**********
You can't really find it in you to care about the 'field study'. It is not at the Academy, but it still is part of your time there? Annoying.
Rean and the yellow-haired girl, whose name is Alisa Arr, are being unusually friendly. The others comment on this, but you haven't known Alisa for long enough to tell. With those two having made peace, the attention of the humans fall on the other group. Specifically the mutually-resentful green-haired Jusis Albarea and the blonde Machias Regnitz.
At least, you think that is what their names are. They keep yelling them, after all.
*
Rean plays some sort of game with the other humans while on the train. You try one round and lose. The rules are strange and there is no hammer card.
This game is stupid.
The Hybrid seems to agree, for it doesn't play. You may have to reassess its intelligence.
*
Cledic is a human hive about as big as Trista, but instead of the academy there is a large area near the middle of the hive that has been fenced off. From what Rean and the other humans told you, this is a place where humans from all over Zemuria come to trade things.
The idea is familiar, enough so that you pull yourself away from the faint whiff of Clown, and hazy inklings of exchanging incompatible Dregs with someone are summoned to the forefront of your mind before they evaporate.
This Trading Place Hive might actually be interesting, but you have to follow the Hybrid to the human nest where you will be staying. Alisa doesn't like the room, but Laura says she shouldn't be upset. From what you gather the issue is about genitals, specifically Alisa not wanting to sleep in the same room as those with different genitals than her.
Whatever the case, the owner of the nest comes by to give Rean a list of things that you are supposed to do while you are here: A large monster needs to be dispersed, the local Orbal factory needs a hand with something, and the local Drinkers want help with gathering resources.
In other words, nothing of interest beyond their proximity to the Trading Place.
The others go to bother the Hyrbrid and you follow along, already thinking about what to do once you are out of here.
Sorry about the delay. Work has been rough the past two weeks and I was busy last weekend.
I am thinking of reworking Crafts and CP to better fit with a pair of mechanics, one of which will be introduced soon and the other which is a while off yet. Mostly by upping the rate of which you gain CP to compensate for all the ways you can get it in-game that are too much of a pain to simulate.
Current draft is that normal attacks earn you a base of 10+half damage, while Arts and Crafts gain you CP equal to half damage.
Alternatively, I could reduce the amount of charges each Craft has and have them regain one charge at the end of the battle to encourage more use of them. Longer battles can still burn CP to regain charges, but I might have to lower the restock cost. Restocking is a free action.
There's so many little details in this that I really appreciate, particularly Kyrie interpreting Alisa's last name as 'Arr' and Kyrie being irritated that there's not a hammer card in Blade. Honestly, everything Kyrie does is pretty funny (and cute). I wonder which 'Clown' it is that she can smell in Celdic. I remember Bleublanc is there at some point, but I can't remember when exactly.
In terms of the vote, while I think it would be funny to follow Rean around, it's probably more important for Kyrie to familiarize herself more with mira and how exactly the economy works here; I know the concept of exchanging goods is somewhat familiar to her, but I kind of doubt they use a currency back where she's from.

Ah, Blade. Very nostalgic. Vantage Masters has more thought behind it, but that game was entirely centered on "have better cards than the other guy". Especially since the AI isn't that smart once you know what makes it tick.
I am thinking of reworking Crafts and CP to better fit with a pair of mechanics, one of which will be introduced soon and the other which is a while off yet. Mostly by upping the rate of which you gain CP to compensate for all the ways you can get it in-game that are too much of a pain to simulate.

Wait, I thought you had things such that you could only refresh your crafts outside battle? With the current CP regen rates it doesn't make much of a difference, but that's good to know.
As for the two options, it depends on the context you want us to use the Crafts in.
The first option means we can occasionally use a Craft on random encounters instead of an Art so we can save a bit of EP. But that's not that much of a change since it'd only be 1 and occasionally 2 instead of 0. It does mean that we don't have to worry as much about running out of options besides "normal attack until it dies" for Boss battles though.
The second option means we would probably use as many Crafts as we would regen every random encounter (to save precious EP), but by reducing the total number of Crafts it would likely exacerbate the "normal attack until it dies" state Boss battles can devolve into.

[X] Look around the Trading Place.
More IC for Kyrie based off her origin. I also like the idea that the rest of Class VII will need to worry about her wandering off on other field studies.
Chapter 1: Unconventional Studies Fist day in Celdic Part 1
Rean wipes the sweat off his brow as he and the others leave the house of Celdic's market manager. Honestly, the last thing he expected when he left Instructor Sara at the inn's bar was to have to break up a brawl between two of the merchants. Never a dull moment with Class VII.
The market manager, who just so happens to be the man responsible for choosing the tasks of their field study, is an older man and a longtime veteran of the Celdic Grand Market. It is such a shame that-
"-he wouldn't let us help with the merchants…" Sighs Alisa as they trudge towards the town chapel. According to this list the local priest wants some help with procuring medicine ingredients.
Laura, ever calm, is the one to answer the group's blonde. "He seemed to have things well in hand. I wouldn't worry."
*
Doing Father Zirbel's shopping and errands for him is not exactly Rean's idea of a good time, but it gives them the opportunity to explore the Celdic Grand Market, famed nationwide for the sheer variety one can find here. Why, one can-
"Hey, where did Kyrie go?"
On one hand Elliot's words fill him with dread. On the other hand Kyrie will probably the fine. She has Elliot, Alisa, Laura and himself to look for her.
…
He hurries through the market.
*
"For the last time, Miss: I don't want your rock!"
They find Kyrie bothering one of the merchants, holding up a rock and some rusty nails up to a jeweler's stall. She tilts her head. "But it is a rock and some metal…"
The merchant is less than impressed. "And? Were you raised in a barn, girl?"
"I wasn't raised." Corrects Kyrie as if commenting on the weather. "Humans found me a basement and then the doctors told me about this world."
And none of them thought to tell her what a Mira is worth, apparently. Aidios, is this what she told that noble girl in the Cooking Club? He throws an apology at the stunned merchant before dragging her away.
"I don't understand." She mumbles, visibly frustrated. "That Human traded a rock with metal to other Humans who would give him Human Value Tokens in return, but he refused to give me Tokens when I tried to give him a rock with some metal."
"I-"
Kyrie looks up at him. "Why do humans value the Tokens? I don't understand."
Oh boy. "See, Kyrie, over in the capital there are these huge vaults full of gold..."

Their next mission is from Celdic's Orbal factory. Or rather, from the Orbal workshop out of the local smithy. The job is to change out a broken light on the highway before a monster strong enough to cause trouble can find the opening.
Rean leads his classmates out of Celdic through the western entrance and onto the highway, taking care to stick to the highway itself so that the lamps can war away any unwelcome encounters-
"…itchy."
Alisa blinks at Kyrie's quiet grumbling. "Huh? Wait, do the lamps bother you Kyrie?"
The alien doesn't seem to visibly react before she answers. "The light is itchy, nothing more."
He and Alisa can do little but shrug at each other. Honestly, to live in Kyrie's world for one day…
**********
Ten Mammal Beasts, none of them reaching higher than the point where your human legs meet your human body, interrupt the changing of the Itch-Light. Should be easy enough.
But with Rean occupied you cannot Link with him…
Elliot is familiar, but both of you are in the rear line. This, according to Rean and Gaius, is important. Fighting as a group sparks no sense of familiarity, so you will take his word for it.
That said, you still need to Link with someone.
