Deus Pater (Exalted/40k)

[X] Hijack a shuttle. You will return to orbit with the press gangs and, once aboard the Navy ships, be in a position to demand answers in person. This is the most direct course, but potentially the most risky as well.

We weren't chosen for our peaceful negotiations and diplomacy, we were Exalted because of our open defiance against that which is wrong in the Imperium. The Emperor tasked us to "prove it" so let's once more do the stupid yet righteous action of marching up to those in power and punching them in the face.

[X] Return to the Capital
Lacking anything resembling our rank such as Robes of office weed more likely than not have to kill ourselves a path to the commanding officers. And if it's all over the planet it's more than one ship it's likely Admirals that we have to talk to.

An Exalt leading a squad of Sisters of Battle against naval armsmen, some of the squishiest squishies* in 40k? This is gonna be good.
Get Ignatius on the vox booming out righteous condemnation and we can probably trigger a mutiny.

*Generally sub PDF in combat capability.

Actually, given our abilities we have a non negligible chance of shouting our way through.

I actully rather hope it doesn't turn into a fight if we pick this option. Even if I don't hold to much hope for that.

Nonzero chance what just happened was that the Navy decided that the best way to deal with the political grenade that Ignatius represents is to not be here, and the plan was to do a quick raid to stock up on crew before bugging out.

Dunno how the admiral or whoever will react to Ignatius showing up to remonstrate with him on his command deck, but it would put paid to the "it's not our problem, and if we're never coming back we don't have to deal with the locals being angry with us" plan.

Glad to see you again, Maugan Ra!

I think this is either

1) Navy was like OK we're leaving this crazy place and grabbing crew... which from my understanding of 40K is an iffy idea. If they backed us they would back us, if they did not they would level us from space.

2) Political shot across the bow, conduct something they are allowed to do (press gang) but without telling the Cardinal, its a direct snub at his authority and perhaps a reminder.

WHY THE HELL NOT

Glad to see this back, you're an excellent writer. Everything is conveyed in such an accessable manner. Even better, the options you give us aren't micromanagement-y, and always feel like the choices are all equally viable.

Okay I can follow most of the math but this bit confuses me - from other examples I got the impression that damage is computed as net successes (6) plus raw strength (2) minus final modified soak (5) but here that would give 6+2-5 = 3 rather than 5. Someone mind filling me in on what I'm missing?

There is an outside chance that I screwed the math up while writing this at 1am.

Whoops.

The practical, pragmatic thing to do would be to return to the capital and drop the Hammer of Bureaucracy™ on the navy.

The Exalted thing to do is to go up there personally and use epic speeches and Solar Hero Style to solve your problems.

[X] Return to the Capital. It will take time to return, and likely the operation will be over by then, but this course will allow you to gather the most information and act with the full weight of your office and accumulated resources behind you

Because I like the idea of casually strolling onto the bridge and demanding WTF is going on over asking the same via vox. Being physically present is really important towards browbeating those that done goofed!

Vote Called.

Looks like you're hijacking this shuttle and going to remonstrate with the Navy in person.

While glowing with divine light, surrounded by a retinue of battle sisters and covered in the blood of the last fool to try harming a member of your flock.

Strap the fuck in, folks, we're going loud.

(It's time to use that occult charm)

Hope that Deft Official's Way helps us find who is in charge. This action is Bureaucracy by other means.

Enigmatic Bureau Understanding should help as well.

It's worth noting, I think, that the Navy, for all it's independence from the Ecclesiarchy, is still made up of fighting men and women and they're naturally pretty prone to faith. Faith is what keeps you alive in the Void, Faith is what keeps you alive in the Immaterium, and Faith is what warms you in the cold, dark, endless hallways of the Imperium's capital ships.

TBH the thing I'm most looking forward to is when this eventually becomes Ignatius just ministering to a bunch of Imperial Navy officers and ratings.

Imperial Naval Rating: "Sometimes we let the monkey swim around in the grog barrel."

Cardinal Ignatius, Light of the Emperor: "Also kind of weird but still not a sin-"
