The Year is 2026. As one Wise Man said, 'Shit is well and truly Fucked.'

The world has been in a near-constant state of apocalypse ever since the doomed assault of Stacker Pentecost at the Pacific Breach in 2018. This led to the creation of the Atlantic breach, along with the first-ever Triple Incursion Event recorded. The countries of Planet Earth have been in near Anarchy and most, if not all of them have entered a state of near collapse. The gargantuan EMP that detonated with the Triple Incursion has made it near impossible for contact of any kind. Kaiju packs roam the land, ravaging any centers of population that they can find. For many, this is the end of the Human Race.

But Not all hope is lost.
The state of Florida had been hit hard by the creation of the Atlantic breach. Miami, their greatest source of income and population was absolutely annihilated, the states around it closed their borders (Not that it helped them), and the state had been written off as a 'regrettable loss' by the cowards at DC. However, that does not mean that there is nothing that the supposed 'doomed land' can do. Many survivors of the Kaiju incursions and Blue have emigrated to the one last source of hope: The coastal city of Tampa. while not as popular as Miami, this also meant that it had a lower enough population size that would allow it to be targeted less by the Kaiju. And it's true that the city was near decimated. However, 'near' is not 'totally'. A good enough population size has made it to the now final bastion of civilization in the Sunshine State. Of course, just people aren't enough to survive. There was the creation of the Anti-Kaiju brigade, but everyone knew that wasn't enough. They needed something...bigger.

So, they looked. Any and all ships they could scrounge up to make or find, they sent. Many never came back, the others came back empty-handed. The city was starting to lose hope. As a final hurrah, they sent out one last expedition. A dinky fisherman's boat, not armed at all with pretty much nothing going for it than it's small size to hopefully make the kaiju disinterested in it. They didn't hope anymore, just humoring what they thought was the final quest of an old insane man.

And against all odds, he found one.
He managed to actually find one. Nobody expected it, nobody thought it would happen. So when it did happen, everybody was dumbfounded. It was as if time had stopped. And then, someone shouted, "Let's go get it then!" And the city went into an uproar, piled in everything they had to get to it. And get it they did. Their one last New Hope...

[] ...Brawler Tango (High Melee/Defense, Medium Strength/Speed, Low Dexterity, No Ranged -- The Brawler)
[] ...Defiant Iota (High Strength/Speed, Medium Melee/Defense, Low Dexterity, No Ranged -- The Wrestler)
[] ...Desperado Epsilon (High Ranged, Medium Defense/Speed, Low Strength/Melee -- The Gunfighter)
[] ...Slasher Splendor (High Melee/Strength, Medium Speed/Dexterity, Low Defense, No Ranged -- The Swordsman)

But of course, that wasn't the only thing they found. No, they also found...

[] ...A Nuclear Turbofan in Pristine Condition (Can automatically upgrade to Mark III)
[] ...Some Military Surplus, Easily convertible to Anti-Kaiju conventionals (+1 Tank Squadron at the start)
[] ...A large cache of supplies, easily enough to fund some projects (+3000 Supply units to begin)
[] ...Some piece of infrastructure desperately needed by the city (1 random characteristic of city gains +1)
[] ...A Black box of some kind. It will take some time to decipher (Black box)
[] ...Something else? (Literally giving me the chance to give you anything I want to.)

And as if the heavens were wishing them luck, a bright spray of sunlight burst through the clouds. After nearly 4 months of darkness, a new light was upon them. All they needed to do... was take it.

(AN: I could attempt to justify this in all sorts of certain ways. Many sorts of shiny explanations for all sorts of things. I'm not going to do that. I'm just going to say this:

I'm a simple man. I see Giant Robot Quest, I read Giant Robot Quest, I like Giant Robot Quest, I make Giant Robot Quest.

And let me tell you, binge-reading TRvTW and CAvTW in one day is one hell of an idea drug.
I'm mostly going to be using the same styles as those two quests, for the reason of: If it ain't broken, don't fix it!

Voting will last for an hour. Have fun!)

Week 1 Combat End
While the fight itself was rather gruesome, it was over quick. The Salvagers came out in full force to get as much as they could from the Kaiju before the Blue was too prevalent, earning a nice tidy profit from the speed of the kill. It was almost kind of shameful how easily it went down. Of course, the feeling went away when the Salvagers found rather large, bony claws inside of the fists that could have extended. After that, there was little joking about the topic.

Week 1 Downtime
With the advent of Thumper's ignominious death, the city went into overdrive. After all of the Blue was cleaned up, the Council turned to new projects. The main impacts of the projects unleashed were rather useful to the burgeoning city.

Firstly, a new Scout Helicopter squad went up, increasing the capability for long-ranged scouting.

Gained 1 Pixie Squadron.

The Communications Center of the City was also improved, nearly doubling the distance that the city could actually talk to their forces.

Communications level increases to 2. City can now coordinate forces up to 50 Units away from DP.

Finally, the research team looked for newer and more efficient ways to harvest Kaiju parts, further increasing the resources they could get from one. In the end, they came up with a set of guidelines and new tools to get the most out of the beast before total destruction was required. A small but appreciable bonus could be noticed from the trials performed.

+10% to all Kaiju R gains.

The final approval forms for the new systems had just been signed when...

Week 2 Combat End
Slowly, almost arrogantly, Desperado walks slowly over to the insensate abomination. They tip it over with an almost mechanical grace, having the once mighty creature lay flat on it's ruptured back. It slowly places its gun on the Kaiju's chest, where the heart would be if it were a human, and safely within the conpod, the connected humans say naught but two words: "Light's out."

(14)

The cannon discharges, blowing a hole in the tattered hide of the monster, killing it nigh instantly. With that said and done, the Jeager radioes back to the city, requesting a pickup.

After the Kaiju is considered mission killed, the Tanks (finally) rollout of the perimeter with the salvage vehicles to collect any useful resources of note. The city sends out a documenting team to ensure that the beast's physical capabilities were still documented, unused as they were. From what could be observed, the Kaiju when alive looked a little something like this:

Week 2 Downtime
Throughout the week, The city of Tampa has been busy. The salvagers working with the material converters to create useful resources, those resources being assembled in radically different ways, and sent to all parts over the city. The places that received the most were the communications center, to boost up their scanning devices, and the military factory by the Shatterdome. Said factory worked overtime to produce the new tank squadron, but by the end of the week, the shining new tanks have been commissioned and added to your meager force of conventional troops.

Scanners increases to 2!
+1 Type 99 Anti-Kaijju Tank Squadron!

On the other end of the Practical vs Theoretical spectrum, the research team has been hard at work developing new ways to kill off kaiju. Their main focus? Cauterizing weaponry. Kaiju Blue is one of the most dangerous parts of a Kaiju, due to its far-reaching effects even after the Kaiju is dead. Cauterizing rounds would be one of the best ways to ensure no Blue flowed into the environment accidentally: Prevention. And they managed it. At the end of the week, the head Researcher presented to the council the newest way to ensure no Blue was introduced unintentionally: Thermite rounds. While originally used by Salvagers and law enforcement to cut through thick sheets of metal, the Research team has found a quick and easy way to synthesize it, shape it, and ensure that it would reach its target. However, they only managed to figure it out for the Conventional forces. The Jeager's gun is too big right now to properly make rounds, but with another week they should find a solution.

All tanks now do Burn Damage! +30 R cost to all offensive forces! All existing Forces retrofitted immediately!
Jeager Scale Thermite munitions require Separate Research!

And it was good that they managed to crack it so soon...

Week 3 Combat End
In the end, the tanks decide to finish of Cancer, citing that their thermite rounds would leave less Blue to clean up. Of course, they nearly managed to botch it at the end, with two of the squads missing their shots, but the third one did manage to hit the creature, finally finishing it off. It was a simple affair all around, but no one denied it was effective.

Soon after, the Salvage crews arrive with their vehicles and cutters. Desperado decides to stay around this time to ensure that nothing goes wrong. In the end, the crews pick up the goods and leave.

Back at the city, the Identification teams have finished their post-battle report for Cancer.
