[X] Desperado shoot again.
[X] Tanks twiddle their thumbs.

I'll take the hit location, though it should be 2d10 instead of 1d20.

That's an 11.

Week 2 Combat End
Slowly, almost arrogantly, Desperado walks slowly over to the insensate abomination. They tip it over with an almost mechanical grace, having the once mighty creature lay flat on it's ruptured back. It slowly places its gun on the Kaiju's chest, where the heart would be if it were a human, and safely within the conpod, the connected humans say naught but two words: "Light's out."

(14)

The cannon discharges, blowing a hole in the tattered hide of the monster, killing it nigh instantly. With that said and done, the Jeager radioes back to the city, requesting a pickup.

KE-026-0009 "???" has been defeated!

--------------
After the Kaiju is considered mission killed, the Tanks (finally) rollout of the perimeter with the salvage vehicles to collect any useful resources of note. The city sends out a documenting team to ensure that the beast's physical capabilities were still documented, unused as they were. From what could be observed, the Kaiju when alive looked a little something like this:

???

Category: 1
A Bipedal beast, its claws are sharp and it's Hide tough. It's not very fast, so that should be good for any potential hunters.

[X] Clean up the Blue! (475 R)

This leaves 4055 R.

[X] Shoring Up The Gaps
-[X] Research Cauterizing Ammunition
-[X] Build 1 Tank Squadron (400 R)
-[X] Improve Scanners to 2 (1000 R)

This leaves us at least 2655 R for next turn.

Week 2 Downtime
Throughout the week, The city of Tampa has been busy. The salvagers working with the material converters to create useful resources, those resources being assembled in radically different ways, and sent to all parts over the city. The places that received the most were the communications center, to boost up their scanning devices, and the military factory by the Shatterdome. Said factory worked overtime to produce the new tank squadron, but by the end of the week, the shining new tanks have been commissioned and added to your meager force of conventional troops.

Scanners increases to 2!
+1 Type 99 Anti-Kaijju Tank Squadron!

On the other end of the Practical vs Theoretical spectrum, the research team has been hard at work developing new ways to kill off kaiju. Their main focus? Cauterizing weaponry. Kaiju Blue is one of the most dangerous parts of a Kaiju, due to its far-reaching effects even after the Kaiju is dead. Cauterizing rounds would be one of the best ways to ensure no Blue flowed into the environment accidentally: Prevention. And they managed it. At the end of the week, the head Researcher presented to the council the newest way to ensure no Blue was introduced unintentionally: Thermite rounds. While originally used by Salvagers and law enforcement to cut through thick sheets of metal, the Research team has found a quick and easy way to synthesize it, shape it, and ensure that it would reach its target. However, they only managed to figure it out for the Conventional forces. The Jeager's gun is too big right now to properly make rounds, but with another week they should find a solution.

All tanks now do Burn Damage! +30 R cost to all offensive forces! All existing Forces retrofitted immediately!
Jeager Scale Thermite munitions require Separate Research!

And it was good that they managed to crack it so soon...

<ALERT. KAIJU SIGNATURE DETECTED.>
<CLASSIFICATION: CATEGORY I.>

Roll me scanners!

It seems that the new scanners are far superior to the previous ones, as discovered by the non-bluescreening screens, the location identifier and the chief technician weeping in joy. From what the other scans could show it seems that the Kaiju in question was an insectoid Hexapedal creature with no obvious weaponry besides some mandibles at its jaw. However, from the readings, the Carapace that it was using as armor was extremely thick compared to the other Kaiju faced. The codename giver declared this one's name to be "Cancer", after the Crab constellation. It was currently 100 Units away from the city.

[] How do you deploy?

I'll try using temp threadmarks in the Apocrypha section.

[X] Plan Normal Formation
-[X] Desperado deploys 20 units out from Tampa.
-[X] Tanks deploy 5 units behind Desperado, spread out 2 units from each other.
-[X] Pixies deploy ahead of the formation to try and get more scans.

Scanners: 7,0

It seems that the scanning curse just had to rear its head one last time, causing one of the copter squads to short out again and send them careening back to the city. However, the other seems to have avoided that fate, managing to set out a good few pulses. While the scan didn't actually find anything, the lack of results is telling. The scouts are going back, having found no 'surprises' that Cancer is bringing with them.

Pixie 1 Scanner Malfunctions! (Cannot be used for 3 turns, -60 R)
Scan Success!
Scanned What? D3=1 (Stats)
Which Stats? D2=1 (Standard stats)
What standard stat? D6=2 (Ranged)
Ranged = 0

In the meantime, Desperado zoomed out with the Jumhawks and waited for the tanks to arrive, which had some ruins of infrastructure around to hide at. Not enough for a Jeager, but one could certainly hide tanks in the ruins there. From what the passive sensors had found, Cancer is advancing to the city still, around 51 units away from the DP. Much too far out of range, this provides an opportunity to wait for a good moment...

[] What range does Desperado Open fire?
[] What do the rest of the tanks do?

Cancer is 51 Units away from DP. Desperado is 31 Units away from cancer, Tanks are 32 Units away. Pixie 1 Malfunctioned and out of battle for 3 turns. Pixie 2 is 8 Units away from Cancer, returning to City.

Sorry again! I try to close my eyes for just two minutes and an hour disappears on me!

Well, midrange doesn't have a +2 to the difficulty.

To provide an explanation, the combat system I'm using is Here. I'll also be putting a link on the front page.

I'll get the first d10.

Edit: Not bad.
Edit 2: Guess I'll do the other roll to.
