Week 1 Combat End
While the fight itself was rather gruesome, it was over quick. The Salvagers came out in full force to get as much as they could from the Kaiju before the Blue was too prevalent, earning a nice tidy profit from the speed of the kill. It was almost kind of shameful how easily it went down. Of course, the feeling went away when the Salvagers found rather large, bony claws inside of the fists that could have extended. After that, there was little joking about the topic.

Leaves us 3250 R.

Hm. Not a lot to do, but not a lot to do it with, either....

[X] Plan Cautious Buildup, Round 1
-[X] Build 1 Pixie Squadron (250 R)
-[X] Improve Communications to 2 (1000 R)
-[X] Research Improved Kaiju Recycling, Stage 1 [Looking toward either a general passive boost, or a City Augment. Stage 1 is acknowledging this is early on, so we won't be making huge leaps. Maybe like an extra 200-500 R or something per Kaiju? Room to grow.]

Spending of 1250, remaining 2000 R.

I'll throw Research.

Edit: that's a 10!

Edit 2: Made some suggestions on Desperado's character sheet (needs some basic feet and fists, weapon ammunition format unclear), and would recommend some general formatting cleanup in some parts, but other than those few bits, everything's looking pretty good!

Week 1 Downtime
With the advent of Thumper's ignominious death, the city went into overdrive. After all of the Blue was cleaned up, the Council turned to new projects. The main impacts of the projects unleashed were rather useful to the burgeoning city.

Firstly, a new Scout Helicopter squad went up, increasing the capability for long-ranged scouting.

Gained 1 Pixie Squadron.

The Communications Center of the City was also improved, nearly doubling the distance that the city could actually talk to their forces.

Communications level increases to 2. City can now coordinate forces up to 50 Units away from DP.

Finally, the research team looked for newer and more efficient ways to harvest Kaiju parts, further increasing the resources they could get from one. In the end, they came up with a set of guidelines and new tools to get the most out of the beast before total destruction was required. A small but appreciable bonus could be noticed from the trials performed.

+10% to all Kaiju R gains.

The final approval forms for the new systems had just been signed when...

Someone roll me Scanners, please! It's a d10+1.

Scanners: 1+1=2

Forebodingly, the Screens give an ominous Shudder, blink out a position, and blue screen. Of course, the technician is rather 'upset' by such an event, and takes a good five minutes just whacking the thing with a Wrench. However, you at least managed to find out what you needed. The Kaiju is about 80 units to the Northeast, but it will obviously not be that far away when you deploy. The only question is, where and how do you?

[] Write-in your deployment (Distance from DP, who's going, how are they arrayed)

Jeez. This may only be the second fight, but the city scanners haven't gotten anything more than a 2.

I've got two possible plans, but I'm not sure whether we want to shoot first or see if our Pixies can dredge up some data on our new friend first. Anyone have any preferences?

Cool. In that case;

[X] Plan Welcoming Party
-[X] Tanks wait back at the Perimeter.
-[X] Pixies and Desperado deploy 20 out from the Perimeter, 2 units of spacing between each.
-[X] Pixies scan as soon as kaiju gets in range.

The reason why Desperado is at the same distance as the Pixies is because while they're our biggest gun, they're also the most durable asset we have, and I'd prefer Desperado draw fire than us lose the unit(s) we just finished making, should Kaiju 2 have a ranged weapon. Tanks are in the backline in case something goes horribly wrong.

The city scrambles out to get the Jeager hooked up, with the tanks staying behind at the perimeter. Soon enough the Jumphawks Liftoff, taking Desperado to its destination along with the scout copters. Soon enough, the Purple Behemoth arrives at the ruins that would serve to be it's start off point. The Pixies were a couple of kilometers off as well, arraying their other sensors to see what they could get out of the Kaiju...

Roll me 2d10!

Also, sorry for being late. This is the 1st period of free time long enough for me to sit down for this.

You're fine, no worries.

Scanners: 0,0

Unfortunately, whatever curse that killed off the cities scanners seems to have gotten to the Scout's scanners as well, judging by the profuse swearing and lack of results from said helicopters. While they can draw attention to themselves, they have practically no use beyond that.

Both Helicopter's Scanners have malfunctioned! It will take 3 turns and 60 R to repair them.

Meanwhile, the beast hasn't stopped it's marching towards the city. As such, it will be up to Desperado to find out exactly what they are facing. Unless the city decides on something else...

Free Action: Scanning Crisis!
You still have no information on what the Kaiju you are facing is! What do you do?

[] Send the Copters back to Tampa and fix their scanners (3 turns, 60 R per)
[] Brute force the Scanners to a higher level to scan this (-1000 R, Scanners go up to 2 for this battle and scan immediately)
[] Desperado tries to scan the target (Roll d10-3)
[] Do nothing (No intel!)

[] Aside from your scanning troubles, what do you do?

This is starting to get sad. Three 1s in a row?

Do we not have an option for, say, a 1 or 2 round "reboot scanners", at least for the Copters?

As I say in my job, "have you tried turning it off and on again"?

Right then. Not willing to risk frying our Jaeger's eyes, so...

[X] Plan Clean Our Eyes
-[X] Send the Copters back to Tampa and fix their scanners (3 turns, 60 R per)
-[X] Desperado holds position, rifle at the ready.
-[X] Tanks hold position, weapons at the ready.
-[X] All ground forces remain in place until Pixies are airborne and able to scan, or enemy is in range, whichever happens first.

The copters eventually decide to get back to Tampa to replace the parts that were needed to scan, citing that being bait for the monster wasn't the idea they had when they signed up. They flew off, hoping desperately that they could get back in time.

In the meantime, Desperado hunkered down for the worst part of the battle: the waiting.

...

...

...

There! In the distance! Unfortunately, the thing that you see is not the small blips of helicopters, but the hulking mass of the Kaiju. From what your passive sensors can tell, it's a bipedal thing and your cameras see that it sports a pair of horns and claws on its hands. It's currently just in range of your Cannon, however.

[] What do you do?

[X] Wait until it's within medium range (15 units) of our cannon, then fire a shot. Nothing fancy, nothing special, just a standard attack.

We might not need too much in the way of extra accuracy, but hitting on 5s instead of 7s is never a bad thing.

Desperado lies in wait, It's gun hot and ready to fire. It's nearly in range, just waiting for that perfect moment...There!

(17)
(10)

The shot smites the monster's spine, piercing straight through the hide there and nearly severing the Spinal cord of the creature. While the beast attempts to struggle against its wounds, it seemingly knows there's nothing it can do from the subdued nature of it's 'flailing'.

(??? Takes 7 Strikes! ??? Takes a Major Spine Wound! ??? is Paralysed!)

While it is rather cathartic to watch it struggle, It most likely won't stay that way forever. Desperado next...

[] Does what?

Desperado is 15 units away from ???. Tanks are 35 units away from ???. Pixies have 1 turn until scanners fixed.

Jeez. You guys may suck on Kaiju identification, but once you see them, it's almost like you put a lazer through them.

BTW, voting will last for 1 hour. Until then!
