Democracy's Torch (Sky plays Darkest Hour)

'ROMAN BREADSTICKS IN 1936!' A sign from a warmongering protester outside the Reichstag.
Mind you, I fully expect there to be war before the decade is out; maybe Mussolini, maybe Stalin, maybe someone else.
But I don't want us starting it unless there's clear Casus Belli, and I really don't want to repeat IRL history.

If we must have war then let it be for the return of the Kiautschau Bay concession. Make Tsingtao German again! :p
Lawl.

Germany did have 'advisors' in China during Japan's campaign there. And...what month is it in the game so far? We've got until July 8th, 1937 for Japan to kick things off against the Chinese (if everything else goes like it did in the OTL)

Hmm. Can we support China when that happens? You know, for extra Alternate History.

Heh. Wonder who the Reichstag would send to meet with Chiang Kai-shek and The Madam?
I can think of a few people here for who the issue of 'Warphans' and promoting Christianity would be icing on the cake.

Japan is pretty hard-coded to go to war with America, barring some ludicrous situation where they are beaten by China. And yes, Germany was supporting China until it became more politically 'useful' to support Japan instead. Soviets and Americans took over at that point.

Speaking of Uncle Joe...well, the Reds are a potential issue down the line.

Italy...we could end up at war with them, if things go exceptionally poorly with events and such. There's an Italo-German war modeled in the mod, but I've never fired it myself. Right now Italy would have the advantage though since they've got a decent sized army and we...don't. Even with the bottleneck of the Alps and a presumable alliance with Austria. Germany ain't ready to fight anyone yet, not until I can fire mobilization and build more units.

Also, the German aid to China was a bit more than some advisors:

The German-trained/German-modeled divisions were the elite of the Republican forces.

... Goddamn. On a scale of 1 to 10, how fucked are we if things go tits up?

Also, that shows how bad the Republicans were, for foreign troops to be their elite.

Stalin in DH is generally coded to start getting aggressive in the '42-'43 period if he's not already fighting someone, which is also when the Soviet doctrine tree begins getting good and the Red Army starts reaching a "lolhuege" size.

I also recall that in vanilla HoI2, Britains hardcoded to declare on Germany in '41 but I don't know how that applies for DH.

From what chunks 'o interface I got a look at, if France declared war tomorrow we'd switch flags with them for the two months it would take for them to push their way into the Reichstag.

Do remember we are in '36 folks.

It'll take a bit to get to Blitzkrieg and reclaiming German clay soil.

'33 actually.

There's a reason I said we won't be ready to fight anyone stronger than Luxembourg for the foreseeable future.

(well, that and the fact we currently have zero manpower)

UPDATE: Sky is busy becoming a smart educator person. So yeah.

Has anybody else been studying old maps and documents in anticipation?
