MOTHER is offline and operating on auxiliary subroutines. Captain Bischoff and other crewmen cyro pods have malfunctioned, and as result, opening procedures have been suspended. Commander Adams is ranking officer on deck.

ARK primary systems are offline, and operating on backup power.
Main power must be restored manually in order to return primary functionality to the ARK.
Report to engineering to reboot primary systems.

Hatchway to the main lift is malfunctioning and crew are currently sealed on the Flight Deck.

Uploading flight deck schematics to crew PDA.

Please stand by...

While I am merely a backup subroutine of MOTHER, I will answer any of your queries to the best of my ability.

From the moment he's out, Brian is evaluating everything around him. His sight comes back slowly, so the first thing he hears are the emergency sirens. Then comes the flashing red of back-up power. Finally he sees the others, aflicted with varying degrees of cryo-sickness. His eyes narrow. If this is sabotage, it can't be one them. Or did the saboteur put themself back under after carrying out their mission?

For a moment he considers that perhaps the principal's cryopod had also malfunctioned - what if his master had escaped and sabotaged the ship, self-loathing to the end?!

I'm sorry, Commander, I do not have a current location for the ARK. Please restore primary systems from engineering for a full navigational report.

Supplemental; Visual scans indicate the ARK is currently adrift in the Orion Shallows between SOL and ALPHA CENTAURI B.

Auxiliary power is capable of keeping cryogenics operable for the foreseeable future; 150 years. Life support systems, however, can only be sustained for approximately three months on back up power.

Scans indicate several options for circumventing the sealed blast door to the main lift to engineering. Engineer tool kits located in the crew quarters could be used to breach the door, although this may be a greatly time consuming option. A ventilation duct that runs above the main lift door may be accessed, however the ventilation systems are volatile and pose a risk to any crew within. Thirdly, the Nostra could be ejected from the flight deck and used to board the Aft Airlock. Navigating the Nostra is inadvisable under the effects of cryo sickness, however.

Is the Ark face any immediate threats of catastrophic system failure that would irreparably endanger the mission, or is the three month timeline until back up power can't sustain life support anymore currently the worst threat we know of?

There was nothing 'good' about the situation the ship found itself in. Any error or emergency was a bad one. There was, however, comfort to be had in MOTHER's initial report. If Commander Adam's assessment of MOTHER's report was correct, they had time on their side - plenty of time to assess the situation, plenty of time to make sure they got things right and didn't make any mistakes that would come from trying to beat the clock.

Until primary systems are restored, it is impossible to ascertain, assess, and rectify any catastrophic errors that may endanger the mission.

Recommendation; restore primary ship functions ASAP.

A slow boot up - organic and mechanical - returned Eden to the land of the living. The lights on her body flickered once and turned on, her eyes glowing a soft blue. Metal feet clicked on the floor as she pulled herself out the deep freeze and regarded her fellow crew.

There was a queasy feeling in the organic kernel that was all that remained of the old Eden, buried in the metal chest of the cybernetic rig. Cryo-sickness; partly a side-effect of the chemical concoction necessary for survivable cryo, partly psychosomatic. Getting used to being alive again. She almost pitied the others; they had a lot more meat to suffer with.

"Well," she spoke out loud, breaking the soft hum of emergency machinery. Her voice was smooth, with a metallic twang too distinct not to be intentional. "Everyone feeling bright-eyed this lovely morning?"

Even as she spoke, she was concocting a message to MOTHER, or at least her subroutine.

Morning, Mother.

Please specify nature of malfunction of other cryopods and error codes for any of the reported malfunctions.

Specify danger of ventilation systems. Would it be possible to turn off ventilation for sufficient time to bypass main lift door without endangering remaining active crew?

Cryopod diagnostics are exhibiting error code G-55071, malfunctioning lock mechanism. Waking protocols for malfunctioning pods have been aborted.

Flight deck ventilation is equipped with high pressure fans for increased circulation at six meter intervals. While operating, these fans pose a risk of major lacerations and death, as well as high pressure airflow every three minutes that could also lead to injury. One fan will need to be bypassed to reach the main lift. Life support for the flight deck could be suspended, posing decreased risk to any work team sent into the ventilation system. Please follow appropriate hazardous environment protocols during this operation.

Suspending life support will endanger any crew remaining on the flight deck. Until primary systems are restored, I strongly advise against suspending vital auxiliary systems.

Supplemental; I have taken stock of equipment stored in the crew quarters...
- 4 tool kits
- 1 laser torch
- 2 envirosuits
- 2 medkits

Alexandra coughed wetly as she pulled herself up, turning over a little to ease her breathing as she slowly gathered her wits. Finally, after a long moment as her body's rhythms settled some, she slowly pulled herself up into a standing position.

A quick glance at her PDA followed by the rest of the crew told her that something was wrong. She scanned MOTHER's email quickly, her brow furrowing as she wobbled slightly.

How long would you recommend recovering from cryo sickness before performing maneuvers in the Nostra?

She'd felt worse at times during flight training, and had flown in such states, but performing docking maneuvers required finer control. She was confident she could do it but in space she knew better than to take chances.

In the purely hypothetical event that I were to violate regulations and pilot the Nostra before 24 hours have passed. Based on my flight records, long would I need to spend recovering in order to have a greater than 95% chance of piloting the Nostra around to dock with the lower airlock successfully?

Additional query: are there any supplies presently available on this deck that can alleviate cryo sickness symptoms?

It might not work, but specific phrasing could be effective when it needed to be.

Manual blast door override procedures are an estimated three hours to complete. Failure to override the locking mechanism will result in a security measures locking users out of the door control interface until primary systems are restored. UNCA regulations state 24 hours recovery from cryo sickness is needed before piloting UNCA vehicles.

The only ones that can ignore this order are those with a higher rank than mine." He said as he walked slowly to where he thought the medical assessment was located, it seems that the cryogenesis had also affected him.

Although this man was a minor rank than him, he was still a man with longer years of service and, therefore, more experience. Treating him disrespectfully would be an insult to that experience. @Romulus

Sean nodded at Krishnoff's response: he would have been really worried if the man had immediately run off; no matter how often he might have been in space. With everyone ordered to medical, that would give them time to take a breath and make a plan.

Subject: Orders

1) As active Medical Personnel, Lt. Commander Segreti and Lt. Ellecon will give all currently active crewmembers a brief medical assessment, starting with assessing each others situation. After they have assessed one another, they will assess remaining active crew one at a time.

2) Any active crew other than Officers Segreti and Ellecon that are not actively undergoing their medical assessment are to report to the sealed lift blast doors, and will assist with opening the blast doors in order to access Engineering through the lift - This will be our primary course of action until we either successfully can access Engineering or further notice.

3) Once all crew have undergone medical assessment, Officers Segreti and Ellecon - with the assistance of Lt. Montague as needed - are to see if they can find a way to safely either speed up recovery from Cryo Sickness or counter and negate the effects of such. This will provide the basis of our 'Plan B' for reaching Engineering, should anything prevent use from reaching Engineering via the lift or they are successful in opening up the use of the Nostra in a safe manner before we gain access to the lift.

4) Use of the ventilation system to access Engineering will be held in reserve as a 'last ditch' option in case everything else goes wrong and it becomes our only viable and reasonable option to avoid catastrophic mission failure - let's ensure it doesn't get to that point.
