I think using the warfare option for expanded trade with the people there. Good GM?

I agree with all of those, except the intrigue. We really need to take to option to learn more about either our tribe, or the surounding ones. I'd really like an option to learn about the tribes around us, because we have pretty much no idea about the people living right next to us, but in absence of that choice, I think it's more important to take the Info gathering option. It's been several years, so passing the blame would likely be less than effective, and we would already be Highlighting the Kagoro insult. There's no need to alienate our people to all of the tribes around us when we can focus them on one.
But I do like your idea to use the warfare option to trade. That's actually something I planned on asking, then completely forgot about.
I think the maneuvers training would be a good idea this turn. We have camel archers, who outstrip horse archers in our area, and we may end up in a war fairly soon.
I can switch out my intrigue for the investigation intothe kagoro. I'm thinking the maneuver option will be a military option? I add that then. I'll have the omake done tomorrow by the way.
Editing my vote.

I should be free Wednesday. I'm just in the middle of transferring to different college, and I'm going in tomorrow to finalize some stuff and do paperwork and all that, so I'm not sure how long I'll be tied up. If you feel like sending it on Tuesday, you can, and I might get to it that night, but no promises.

With the king's emblem in hand, Hilo, now one of the king's advisers, inspected the group that would be traveling west for a third time. His days as a simple soldier and farm hand were now a far cry from his life as one of the king's advisers. After being promoted to the position so abruptly and unexpectedly, he had received a whirlwind lesson in the politics of the kings circle. It was quite useful in Hilo's mind, since navigating the still fluctuating pecking order of those who orbited the king was vital to his life and well-being. Although apprehensive at first, he eventually found his niche as one of the balancing forces among the Hooru, especially in regards to military and economic affairs.
Having taken it on upon himself to divert as much of his focus on keeping the caravan traveling there as free from corruption as possible, as well as playing the greedy Hooru factions hoping to take advantage of the venture off of each other, Hilo made himself as much of a representative of the king's and all the Soninke's interests as most could stomach without coming off as a man with little ambition. It was an act that had to be balanced delicately or he risked angering to many to keep himself relevant or useful for the king, whom he felt a vast gratitude and loyalty to.
With his mind made up and having completed his examination of the hundreds of lightly armed men, the camels, the trade items and as well as having been satisfied with the weight check of the thousands of containers of Salt, Hilo signaled for the men that they could soon leave for the west again. He turned to the leader of the trading venture, quietly signaling the man over for a private word.
"You understand what to do after, yes?" said Hilo.
"I didn't need to be told to do that. Besides, some of the men here are well informed of the rumors already anyway. Seems the exploration team couldn't keep their mouths shut," said the frustrated trade expedition leader.
"Well, some of them have been silenced with bribes, and the others were framed, and forced into slave work. Anyone who hasn't gotten the message was dealt with permanently. You were chosen for being the most loyal and efficient of the king's men, the "silencing" won't affect the trip or your men. There's no need to worry any repercussions or spite for being chosen to go there," said Hilo, still somewhat uncomfortable with the dark side of his role as advisor.
"And all of this for a rumor of some gold in the river? Well, no sympathy from me; those men should of known better than to run their mouths off, and especially with the Kagoro acting funny-"
"It's more than a rumor. Do you think the natives there will interfere? Or that they're aware of you knowing about the gold," interrupted Hilo.
"I don't think they really suspect us of knowing about it. As for interference, they can't try it, not in any way we can't handle, and the salt should make them pliable enough not to try anything. I'll have a portion of the men in the back break off and head to the river once we're a few days away from the people there. The goods should distract most of them while the others check out the river," the man intimated.
"Good, good," said Hilo.
"Alright, We'll be off then," said the caravan leader.
"Yes, good luck," replied Hilo.
The caravan leader nodded in reply and mobilized his men to ride out. It was not long before the steady march of the camels and backs of hundreds of men could be seen. Now all Hilo could do was wait and see if one of his most important missions would turn out well or leave much to be desired.
Hopefully for him, it would be more of the former, little of the latter.
Note: Forgot to upload this yesterday. Woops.
Also, forgot to check it out and comment about it earlier, but I'm guessing we came acrose the northern tributary of the Senegal river, GM? The northwest of the Gorgol?
I was thinking the only river they could have encountered just going west would be that one and then I did a little research about it. Was shocked that its important for linking SSA up with northern trade during the Sahelian kingdoms rise and that the Senegal was known for have gold deposits. Its suppose to be a vital artery for that Saharan trade network.
What's even better for us is that I read that the Senegal river was only dominated by the Sahelian kingdoms and the Fulani later on. We've basically gotten a huge boost in wealth here and at an earlier time period. Plus the lands are fertile too, so it could be a good spot to migrate to in the future or to set a colony up at.
Can I convince people to marry a Berber instead of adopting a child? The Berbers, as a whole, still aren't integrated to where we need them. And we have tensions in the military. The king marrying a Berber would set a great precedent among the rest of the populace that the Berbers are now Soninke or will be in the future. It would allow some intermarriage to take place, cooling some of the tension in the military , and integrating the Berbers faster.
Adopting doesn't really make much sense here anyway. Don't we have a child on the way with our current wife, or am I mis-remembering?
Edit: Yeah, I was right. We already have a kid about to be born, no reason to adopt. Even if the child we are about to have dies before maturity, we still have that general to use as our heir.
You also have a new wife, from the Soninke peoples. By the year's end she is pregnant. You won't say much about your first night together, but you will mention that it was…fun.

Fair enough, I guess. Encouraging talent is never a bad thing, I just think it's not particularly necessary right now, what with the general we could adopt as our heir as well as a child coming. The berber's, on the other hand, are a huge portion of our population. The majority, in fact, so I think it's important to keep them happy and make them feel like they are a part of our civilization, and that can be done by marrying one of them.
