Children of Hades (DanMachi)

Chapter 5: Part 3
[X] Continue trying to tame it. It should bow before our mighty catness.

No, no. You decided to try and tame it, and you're sticking to your guns. Time to assert your strength.

Then again... the poor thing looks terrified. It's downright trembling. You step a bare foot forward and it flinches in fear. You force a gentle, reassuring smile to your face and step forward, patting the little mushroom on the head.

...!

So soft!

It's squishy and warm! You shall call him Squishy and he shall be yours and he shall be your Squishy.

Picking up the little guy, you hug him to your bare bosom, squeezing the life out of the 'shroom. It struggles and writhes, trying to break free of your grip, but you hold it steady, just smothering the thing in some marshmallow hell. It's true, huggably soft and happily squishy is the way to be!

The thing really flails, then finally manages to break free and runs down the cave hall. You give chase, but your bare foot hits a pebble and you fall flat on your face, though luckily you have two cushions for your chest. When you pull yourself to your feet, the Golden Mushroom is gone...

Okay... Let's assess the situation. You're on the Fourth Floor of the Dungeon, half a foot tall, totally naked, too small for any your equipment, and don't have any status curing potions. At present, you have your claws and the ability to Relay your Mini status on any enemy you come across to bring them down to your size.

You could wait around, see if the status effect wears off... but you have no idea if it actually will or not.

You could try to make your way back to the first floor, Relaying and clawing any Monsters you come across, but who knows what might happen. However, you'd probably get some serious Exilia from it!

It's unlikely anyone might come down this dead end, but you might be able to try and find some help from another Adventurer. However, if it's one from the Soma or Freya Familia, they could try to take advantage of you...

What should you do?

:I I'd like to say that this was unexpected, but it was totally 100% the most obvious course of events. Ya'll wasted the exp pinata when you should have been devouring it's entrails. *sigh*

Well, too late now.

[ ] Try and make it back to the surface.

Our stuff isn't that expensive(i assume), so we might as well get some exp out of this. And it sounds kind of funny.

Edit:

Changed my mind.

I don't want to leave our stuff behind. If a monster finds us, we can just relay our status on to them and fight them fisticuffs chibi-style.

What a waste but at least it didn't hit us with multiple shrink rays until we would take years to escape the dungeon.

Yea, I'm gonna say it now, chekhov's gun saying it is not the last we see of this 'shroom. Don't forget Rixis foreshadowing that magic stone thief monster a few chapters (months?) back.

Well, maybe it'll wear off soon? You head back to your armor and supplies and sit down atop your cuirass, legs dangling off the neckline of it and settle yourself into a wait. You shouldn't have to wait long.

-o-

It's been probably over two hours and you're still smol and nekkid. You're fairly certain that it won't be wearing off any time soon. Only trouble you've had is a couple of Kobolds, Goblins, and Dungeon Lizards coming down this dead-end, but you were able to beat them by Relaying your Mini status on them and fighting them off with your claws. If you get injured or low on Mind, you can just sip at the now massively sized healing potion and magic potion in your equipment pile.

Best give it a longer wait... see if it wears off later. You're at least getting good Exilia like this.

-o-

It's been three hours. It's probably for sure that it's not wearing off now. You haven't even seen any Adventurers come by, not when this is a dead-end and it's so late at night.

Sighing, you stand up from your seat and stretch your arms above your head. Looks like there's nothing left to do but try and make it to the surface, or at least find someone who can help you. It's a shame, but you'll have to leave your equipment behind.

-o-

You make your way through the Fourth Floor of the Dungeon, Relaying and clawing any Monsters you come across. You eventually find the stairwell, when you run into your first major challenge: Climbing the stairs. It's actually little more than a bother with your parkour and rockclimbing skills, but it's still going to take you a while.

You begin scaling the stairs, but stop when you hear footsteps. Someone's coming down the stairs. But what insomniac could be exploring the Dungeon at this hour besides you? You back up and press flat against the wall, wondering if you should ask them for help or not.

What comes down the stairs is someone who, were you regular sized, would probably be your exact height of five foot nine. They stop and take a seat on the steps next to you, reaching into their bag and pulling out a book and Magic Stone lantern. You take a good look at them.

He looks human but has long, pointed ears. The ears are too short for him to be an Elf, so he's probably a Half-Elf. He looks slightly androgynous due to his Elven lineage, but still has hints of masculinity due to his Human heritage. The result is a man with handsome features who looks more bishounen than androgynous. Still, it's clear the life of an Adventurer has helped temper that masculinity, as he has quite the muscle definition and a scar over his right eye that looks to have just missed actually damaging his eyeball. His skin is fair and his hair is dirty blonde, straight, and neck-length, but held up and back with a long white bandana tied behind his head, while his eyes are an emerald green. He's wearing a full suit of splint mail armor, vertical strips of metal riveted to a backing of leather and flexible chain mail protecting his joints. Leather boots with metal greaves adorn his feet and metal-backed leather gauntlets clad his hands. On his back is a metal kiteshield while at his waist is a heavy-looking metal mace. The book he pulled out of his bag and is currently reading by lantern light is... it's hard to make out the title. You lean forward to try and get a look at it, but you end up stepping on a pebble and sending it clattering down the stairs, causing the male Half-Elf to turn and look at you.

To his credit, he only cocks an eyebrow. "Well... Hello. I'm Leon Elekor. And you are?" He asks, his tone cordial and calm.

You can't help but find it weird that he doesn't find the sight of a six-inch tall Cat Person to be more unusual, but... the fact that he's treating the situation like it's normal actually helps calm you a little. You wraps your arms over your breasts and cup your crotch with your tail, blushing. "Um... I'm Rooster Ringabelle."

Leon closes his book, which you now see is a copy of the Argonaut story. "Well, I'm not sure what happened to you Rooster... But it looks like you could use a hand."

He doesn't seem to mind your nudity, but he does notice your embarrassment at it. Reaching behind himself, he tears strips from the long ends of his bandana and hands two to you. You hastily take one and wrap it around your breasts like a tube top, while tying the other around your pelvis like a skirt or sarong. Admittedly, it's meager coverage, but at least it's coverage.

"Would you like me to carry you back up to the surface?" he offers. "It's a long way up in your current state."

You stare at him, trying to gauge him. He seems pleasant, but he also seems highly guarded. What Level is he? What Familia is he in? Why... Why does he- "Why do you want to help me?"

Leon cocks an eyebrow again. "Well... Why not? Do you need a reason to help people?"

Hm... Do you accept Leon's help? It seems like an easy way back to the Underworld Dormitory... But what if he's a member of the Soma Familia? Then again, his equipment looks a bit too nice to be from a Familia that spends all its money on premium wine...

...you know, if the change is permanant, there could be a few benefits to it...
all food and drink is larger...
you could fit into smaller spaces...
people could carry you on their shoulder, so you dont have to walk...

We're never going to live this down, are we? Our Familia will lightheartedly mock us for now and forever.

We got a super roll in finding the setting's metal slime but somehow ended up with a net loss, I really hope we manage to find our gear...
