Catching Victory (A Pokemon Quest)

For those of you still interested in this, this is still alive.

It's just that the next snippit that I've been writing has been lost twice.

Route 302
Getting your TM back and giving the HM to the kid goes without a problem.

The northern cities in the Vesryn Region, such as Nyasa, and Superior, are all high above most of the other cities that are further south. Onega Town, the city you're going next, is not one of those cities that are high up. And while there is a highway that does to different cities in the region, they aren't exactly pedestrian friendly and you don't have a car of your own. Besides, getting hit by a two ton bullet going 70 miles per hour is not part of your plan.

You approach the edge of the city and come to a huge drop-off. The angle makes it too steep to climb down, but there is a path that's been carved out, leading to the bottom of the cliff and to the next part of the route. Around halfway down the path, it looks like a portion of the cliff above it had collapsed and the rocks had landed in the path. While one could theoretically climb over it, it would be extreemly dangerous if one were to fall off.

Thankfully, I don't have to you think when you make it to the rocks blocking the rest of the way down.

"Alright Adamantine, come on out" You say as you toss the pokeball. Over the next ten to fifteen, Adamantine carefully moves the boulders to the side, making sure that they don't get sent tumbling down the cliff and on top of anyone unfortunate enough to be down there.

At the end of it, the rocks have been moved to the left side of the path, along the cliff face. Someone will still need to come and get rid of them eventually, but people should be able to use the path in the meantime.

Smiling to your self, you recall Adamantine and set off down the path.

After you get to the bottom of the path, you start heading south. Like most routes, there are a lot of trees to either side with a crude dirt path and tall grass. Wild pokemon occasionally peek out of the tall grass but you don't challenge them and they seem content to leave you alone. After walking here are a few trainers on the route.

A man in a brown suit looking through the grass, probably looking for a pokemon.

You see a woman in a green apron and bandana with a white poke ball label on them. She seems to be wearing a white shirt and brown pants. She's walking in the opposite direction as you.

You also see a trainer in a red tracksuit further down. You... you don't know what he'd doing. He seems to be beat boxing but you can't tell from here.

[] Gentleman
[] Pokemon Breeder
[] Cooltrainer

[X] Pokemon Breeder

Eh. Don't want to disturb another searching capture.

Route 302 Battle #1
As you approach the gentleman, the Pokemon Breeder walks past you. Maybe she's looking for pokemon of her own. Shrugging, you approach the gentleman.

You see him facing away from you with headphones in his ears, apparently having little luck with his search. He bobshis head in time with some unheard music.

"Excuse me, sir?"

He doesn't hear you. Continuing to look through the tall grass.

"Sir?"

He continues to be oblivious to you. A Hoppip flies past him but he ignores it.

"SIR!"

He turns around this time and takes off his headphones. Before he turns off the device they're connected to, the lyrics of what he was listening to can be clearly heard.

I won't deny it

Imma straight rida'

You don't wanna fuck wit me...

"Hello young man!" He says with a smile. "How may I help you this fine day"

"Are you a Trainer?" You ask.

"Sure am. Bud Wilson" He smiles while he introduces himself. "I may have started later than most but you're never too old for pokemon! What's your name?" He offers his hand.

"My name's Bard" You say. "Pleased to meet you." You shake the man's hand

"Quite" He says. "And you know what they say happens when two trainer's eyes meet?" He asks, already reaching into his jacket pocket to retrieve a pokeball.

You were going to challenge him anyway. "Sure thing" You say as you chose your pokemon for this battle.

Both you and the Gentleman throw your pokeballs at the same time.

"Go Adamantine!" You call out as you release your Onix. The snake loons over every one else there like a colossus. The Gentleman seems unperturbed as white energy is released from his pokeball, forming into a small, and all too familiar shape.

"It's time, Bulbasaur." The Gentleman calls out. The grass type pokemon looks at Adamantine, ready to start the battle in earnest.

"It appears the advantage is mine." He says with a smile.

Well, this isn't the first time my pokemon was at a type disadvantage. Won't be the last. Let's do this.

[] Use Harden before attacking.
[] Just attack. Try to take down the Bulbasaur before it knocks Adamantine out.
[] Write in.

Are we allowed to do something like this?

[ ] Adamantine, sit on that puny plant. Roll around if he tries to dodge.
or
[ ] Sweep your tail and see how far you can bat that Bulbasaur.
:V

If not, here's an overcomplicated plan:
[X] Attack!
-[X] Dodge any Leech Seeds and start with a quick Rock Throw. If it hits, great! If not, it'll distract Bulbasaur as we move in, maybe even mess up the terrain for him.
-[X] Strength over and over till Bulbasaur faints; don't give him time to prepare moves.
-[X] If Bulbasaur shows signs of knowing Sleep Powder, stay away and keep using Rock Throw.

At lower levels, Bulbasaur has three main threats against us: Vine Whip, Leech Seed, and Sleep Powder. Its normal and Poison attacks won't do much. Vine Whip is super-super-effective, though Onix also has over triple the defense stats compared to Bulbasaur. Leech Seed means that we can't have a prolonged battle. If it knows Sleep Powder, we can't stay at close range, though maybe a larger dose would be needed to make a giant rock snake fall asleep.

Another option is to stay away and repeatedly use Rock Throw. But that depends on Leech Seed's range.

On the plus side, Adamantine ought to be faster too.

[X] Plan Oh I Am Slain!

Although, a tail sweep should be more than enough to end the fight. It's legs are like 8 inches long, there's no way it could conceivably dodge, and it should do normally damage, so it wouldn't even have a type advantage to protect it. Onix has a lot of weight to throw around, it should smash tiny little Pokemon like this without much trouble.

Keep in mind, Onix was beaten by pokemon that it should have beaten by sitting on them. And considering thedurability feats of pokemon in all official sources, I wouldn't count Bulbasaur out yet.

Really that can't be-

*Double checks Bulbagarden*

Well then...

I'm planning out the next post. We'll see what happens.
