[X] Use Agumon as bait. Tai's his partner, and as someone tasked with looking after him, that leaves him accountable for things like this, right?
 
To think, this situation could have been averted if Tai's +10 had actually done something... or if the dice had put you against Team Calico. Either one, really.

Either way, his Apprentice Trait has totally failed you, and it just so happened to be a terrible moment for it. Let's hope the actual battle goes better.
 
God damnit Tai! Did he just get us effectively evicted from Kunemon's place too!?
 
Eh, let's hold off on that until we find out exactly what he said, and how may people heard him. To have soured any insect mon we meet on us thanks to him, it must have been awful and loud. Jeeze, I hope he didn't create issues with Tentomon...

All This Was Tai's Fault, Naturally

    • You're tempted to make Agumon do most of the work in this fight. After all, it's Tai's fault that the trio of Honeybeemon are so riled up. But that would be wrong, and more importantly, would get in the way of doing well in the finals, which is where performance really counts. You're only in this for the money, after all.

    "Champions, now!" You bark out as the trio fly at you. Angemon simply sets himself up to guard while Agumon and Biyomon lunge forward, transitioning into their Champion forms as they do so. It's nowhere near as seamless as Team Moon's transformation, but you aren't exactly doing this to be visually appealing.

    Maybe if you were Mimi... no, probably not even then.

    "Noble warriors, I shall fight the partner of the one who insulted the honor of the insectoid Digimon!" The leader Honeybeemon proclaims. "The two of you should prevent his allies from interfering in our fight!"

    "We're not agreeing with him!" You call onto the battlefield. "He's just an idiot!"

    "But you fight alongside him!" The Honeybeemon on your right points out. "Therefore, you must support him in some capacity!"

    Right. Swarm mentality. Probably not entirely worth arguing with at the moment. Maybe later. Maybe.

    "...Birdramon? Fire at will." Her opponent is actually carried by the blast, all the way out of the arena. Meanwhile, Angemon is fencing with the one that is focused on him, and doing fairly decently.

    Up until Greymon swipes the Honeybeemon away with his tail, anyway. The one that insisted on dealing with him is still up, likely due to his size and agility.

    ...Good news is, you should at least be prepared if the finals have you fight Team Moon. Bad news is, the leader seems to be the toughest of the lot, and has actually gotten a few attacks in, though they mostly just bounce off of Greymon's skull plating.

    Again, you are tempted to leave him there, but still... "Birdramon! Get the leader!" Likely the only reason Angemon hasn't already moved is the fact that the one he was fighting pricked him with something, giving him problems moving.

    You hope it wears off soon.

    "Understood!" Your partner replies, cloaking herself in flame before divebombing the final Honeybeemon, leaving him conclusively out.

    "And, once again, failure to properly swarm the enemy has brought defeat to Team Honey. Better luck next time!" The announcer laughs. "Anyway, coming up next is the long-awaited rematch between Team Calico and Team Moon..."

    The other match is about to start. What do you do while it's going on?

    Meta-wise we know that freaking Devimon is skulking about, so best to check on the bearer of the crest of Light, yeah?
     
    As much as I'd like to give Tai a hand by coming up with something, this is a much more humane way for him to learn his lesson. He'd still have his winnings, so he won't necessarily be out on the streets, but it should still have an effect.

    But I think we've been neglecting one of our teammates a little, especially as her partner is still not here.
