@SeekerofDreams are there bigger prizes for the team fights? Something particularly interesting in any of the different categories?

We do have Both a Greymon AND an Angemon that could help us in case
Team fights do offer rather substantial prizes, as the expectation is for the team members to split them amongst themselves. As your group depends on each other, it's really more of a net gain for you than it would be otherwise. Also, team fights give the opportunity to fight against teams constructed for maximum power- Champion fights especially have certain pairs or trios that work exceedingly well together.

Also, higher level fights have higher turnouts, which means bigger prizes. And you will, of course, be given the opportunity to speak with various other competitors if you so choose.

GOOD

[X] Why not see if you can't rustle up a team of three somehow? (Who?)
-[x] Champion tournament. Greymon, Birdramon, Angemon
--[x] try to convince your friends to enter the rookie tournaments (teamfights or solo fights depending on how many you convince). It's both good training and we need the money!

This... may make Matt jealous, but if he enters the actual fight with us he's GOING to be overprotective of his little brother. He's gotta realize TK can stand on his own eventually; might as well start that now.

For the loot!

[x] Don't enter a tournament. Instead, just watch a few matches. There's some interesting Digimon in attendance that you may be able to talk to.
-[x] A humanoid Digimon in the very back, cloaked almost completely in shadow.

People can be so predictable sometimes...

Good news! By not approaching Devimon, you've reduced the chances of facing a SkullSatamon at some point in the next year by a whole eighty percent! I've also found some opponents of sufficient power to be fought... because for reasons, team-vs-one is a very real thing in these tournaments.

GACK! That was freaking... of course it was Devimon, he's a resident of the town too. How could I forget that? He works in the Secret Shop, or at least he did in Digimon World 1. I'm also a little frightened of what we're going to be going up against now...

I don't know why i didn't consider the chance of Devimon evolving... or how i didn't think of that being him

Just to be clear, the ONE is still a champion level? because There are not that many champions that i can see win 1v3 (right now i can only think of Devimon and maybe Leomon. Well, and the champion form of Diaboromon, but he's a special case), but if we're talking ultimates...

EDIT: Maybe a particularly strong tyrannomon?

Tournament Arc Start
"...I'm just saying it's a good idea!" You finish your suggestion, as well as the vehement insistence that no, Matt, you are not forcing his little brother into anything and yes, Tai, you'll pay for Kari's tickets. You didn't expect talking them into this to be anywhere near this hard.

"I'm entering a solo tournament," Matt states. "Gabumon, you up for fighting Champions?"

"I'd feel a bit better about it if I were Garurumon," The little fuzzy reptile tells him, "But I don't think that will be a problem."

"Good."

"Why a tournament, though?" Palmon asks. "Do you really not have any better ways of earning money?"

"Palmon, the last time we went out to get money, we came back with injuries," Izzy points out. "I'd consider entering it myself, but if you hadn't noticed, I'm a bit busy right now."

Right. He's trying to communicate with your world- in this case meaning Haruka. Because if anyone can work out a way to get you home, it's the local mad scientist.

Though you may be waiting a while. It's not like their research into the worlds has made a lot of headway, at least that you're aware of. Izzy himself would know more, but you aren't asking right now. Best to leave that kind of work to the professionals, really.

"Yeah, you do that," Tai shrugs. "Meanwhile, I'll be doing the cool things."

"You and I have very different ideas of what we consider 'cool'," The redhead deadpans, not even looking up from his computer. "And Mimi and Palmon should probably stay here, just in case. We're fairly close to the wilderness here, after all." Well, yes, if fairly close meant 'last tree before open forest'.

In the end, it's decided that Tai and TK will be entering a triples tournament with you, while Matt and Garurumon will handle the singles side of things. Hopefully, it all works out.

It takes fifteen minutes for the entry forms to be filled. Not because there are humans involved- there are actual entry forms specific for DigiDestined and their Digimon partners- but because it takes you ten minutes to decide on your team name.

You honestly blame Tai's ego and lack of creativity for that one, however. But you eventually managed to argue for one a bit less cringe-worthy than 'Team Awesome'.

[ ] Team DigiDestined

[ ] Team Freedom

[ ] Team Digivice

[ ] Write-in

Either way, after that particular annoyance is over and done with, the six of you are shepherded into a room with several of the other teams. Sounds of bragging and idle chatter fill the air around you. All you have to do is wait until your team name is called.

So, now what?

[ ] Talk with your team. No need to risk giving secrets to competitors- you know Tai can't keep his mouth shut.

[ ] A snowman, a yeti, and a man made of fire. What could possibly have made that kind of team?

[ ] There's a yellow poop-thing with a purple rat on its head talking to a green sludge. You're honestly curious.

[ ] ...Okay, you're pretty sure that team over in the corner is made of Rookies, and they don't have partners. What are they doing here?

Yeah you guys can decide on team name.

Also, the three Rookies are either very cocky, or very strong. Assume the latter until proven otherwise.

Frigimon, Mojyamon and Meramon. Interesting combination, i suppose they could combine fire and snow attacks into water and vapour/mist.

sukamon, chuumon (a rookie) and numemon. This will be a "dirty" fight no doubt. (no, I'm not sorry!)

This team will be the joke team or the final boss team. No in-between possible.

I can't really think of a decent team name... maybe

Might want to discuss team strategy while we're waiting, and yeeeeah DarkKing is right, let's head Tai off before he yells something for the whole stadium to hear.

The rookie team... concerns me. The power of rookies isn't generally that variant, but there are some notable exceptions, though I've not a clue what one of them would be doing here. It's also possible the "degeneration" effect some of the games use is in play, which makes constant digivolution, training, devolution, training, repeat a valid method of getting an in-training stronger than most megas. Wish we knew what they looked like.

I'm indifferent on the name tbh, but I acknowledge we need to strategize before we rush in.
