Blue Steel 2199: Arpeggio of Blue Steel/Space Battleship Yamato 2199 Crossover

I presume the Blue Steel group is going to be integrated into Yamato's crew, with the Mental Models providing additional support in combat?

Man, Takao isn't going to like having anyone other than Gunzou in the Captain's Chair, though making him the XO and official 2IC should mollify her somewhat...

It'll just annoy her more, I bet.

All of his Naval Institute friends will make more "King of Silver" jokes about him, though. That should spice things up.

True that but satellites are quite fragile. We can currently direct a laser to a mirror on the surface of the moon and bounce it back to earth. The question is whether a destructive beam of enough force can be fired at range. My opinion and how I will be proceeding is on the assumption that a Fog ship modified for space flight will be superior to a Gamilan ship, but that the Gamilans have enough ships that if the defenders get careless or the attackers get lucky, it's going to hurt.

It's thought that they used laser cannons to hit the satellites (that's what the smokestack structures are for).

Are... Are they going to have the Yamato modify her hull for spaceflight?
....
HELL YES. WATCHED.
I was waiting for something like this!

Kotono in a yellow skintight jumpsuit.

Yamato refuses to take off the dress.

I think Safebooru might be allowed, but don't hold me to that. They specifically don't allow porn or excessively NSFW stuff.

Safebooru still has NSFW ads, so that's a no go.

If it's on danbooru or whatever, use the /posts/###### link format.

That makes them sitting ducks, though.
Yes, but fuel used to keep them in motion can be used for evasive actions and extended tactical endurance. the lack of aerodynamic concerns also means that the missile can be designed to defeat enemy countermeasures instead of wasting space and weight for control surfaces or to limit air resistance.

Fog Torpedoes are apparently SuperCavitation Torpedoes, although a visual look over shows that they possess one rocket motor, along with maneuvering thrusters in the nose cone for active maneuvering.

The range limitations of a Fog Torpedo/Missile mostly stem from in-atmosphere conditions, since they have to keep thrusting to reach their target, and only carry a limited amount of fuel.

If you can let them coast to the point where they need to start actively maneuvering, then their range in space is greatly increased. Based off of demonstrated Gamilan point defense guns, and Gamilan accuracy in general, Fog Torpedoes wouldn't have to start actively maneuvering until spitting distance.

In other words, Fog Missile spam is going to tear those aliens a new one.

I tend to agree that Fog ships have the firepower to handle the Gamilans. Their problem; however, is that Gamilan ships are still obviously much more powerful than the fleets the Fog crushed in the Great Battle. Also they would probably take a real hurting if someone like Domel was in command of the Gamilans. He is a tactical genius that would grab Zordan Stark by his collar and slap him silly.

Not to mention weight of numbers. Earth was one of the shittiest posts with only a small fleet and a few bases to support the siege. The massive use of Fog ships might attrack the attention of the main fleet.

Well, if the Fog Yamato turns herself into a Space Battleship, she better drag along some escorts and supply vessels, since the only way she can repair herself is with Nanomaterials, and I don't think there's an abundance of that in space.

Chapter 3
Time to go see how the mental models are doing...

Blue Steel 2199 part 3

Kirishima blinked. Her last memories were of watching Makie go to sleep. How long had she and Haruna stayed by Makie's capsule until finally they hugged each other and headed down to the maintenance bay? She remembered laying down in the support module and then powering down. The last image recorded she had was of the features of her plushie shell reflected off the glass canopy. And now?

The canopy had opened. Bright light temporarily overloading her optics until they recalibrated. Kirishima assumed she had been reactivated as Hyuga had promised. If so, then Makie would be waking up now, waiting for her and Haruna. At least she hoped that was what was happening. The other options were disagreeable at best.

One: Some unknown party had broken into the base and was now going to reprogram them like hapless puppets. Kirishima growled inside. If this were true, she intended to make someone pay dearly first.

Two: She had ceased to function. She had seen her own mortality once. She knew humans had many different ideas, theories, and myths about what happened when one… died. If this were death, then she only hoped that Makie and Haruna would join her in wherever this was. Eternity would be more bearable if she had her friends with her.

She shook herself at the thought. She didn't want to be alone, but she also did not want Haruna or Makie to have ceased yet. No. THAT was unthinkable! Everything was fine and going right according to plan as Hyuga had promised. Time to get ready.

Self diagnosis… check! All systems report normal. She sat up and leapt off the bed…

"Ooof!" Kirishima groaned as her feet hit the floor and she immediately lost her balance and pitched face forward into the deck. Funny… My gyroscopic stability program seem to be malfunctioning. My self diagnosis program must need correcting…

Kirishima grunted as she pushed herself off the deck and glanced upward. With her luck, Haruna or maybe Kongo was right there, taking complete amusement in her predicament. She glanced upward slowly as she heard the sound of someone sitting up in the module in front of her. Her optics noted one foot and then another foot swing into view. Somehow it seemed very odd, very wrong.

Then it hit her. The feet were not those of Haruna or Kongo. These were smaller… all too familiar… and pink?! Kirishima looked up and stared in shock. Yotaro? But then did my program get switched with someone else's? What's going on here?

The bear stared back at her and pointed a three clawed arm at her. "Nani?!" The bear exclaimed in disbelief. Well, at least Kirishima was not alone in her shock. Best to find out at least which of the others she had somehow switched with.

"So. I am Kirishima." She said aloud to the bear. "Who are you?" She was prepared for anything as she wondered if maybe this was not just a big practical joke on Hyuga's part.

"I'm Kirishima!" The bear answered in apparent indignation.

Kirishima stood up in shock, looking agog at Yotaro.

"So it seems you both are Kirishima." Kongo spoke up behind her with thinly veiled amusement. "And here I thought one was quite sufficient myself."

Kirishima looked down at her mental model's hands and then she caught sight of a mirror on the other side of the room. Her original model form stood there in shock with her mouth hanging open at the sight. I take it back. I'm not quite prepared for everything after all…

"Kirishima? Yotaro?" Haruna asked in disbelief and then turned to a tall man standing by the door. Obviously human but my records do not identify him. "Where is Hyuga?"

"Hyuga is in the medlab seeing to the others. My name is Sanada. Hyuga asked myself and Murusame to see to your awakening.

"Then we'll go see Hyuga right now!" Kirishima and Yotaro declared simultaneously.

"Obviously she thinks this is amusing." Kirishima stated flatly.

"We don't agree." Yotaro added as both folded their arms in irritation.

"Not yet." Sanada replied. "Or not quite yet." He said looking at his wrist chronometer. "Murusame should be here with our last guest any second. "

The mental models looked around, counting heads. Haruna… Kongo… Takao… Iona… Yotaro… Kirishima…?! Everyone seemed to be there already. Takao was nervously backing away from an odd looking robotic unit that seemed almost as if it were ogling her.

"IX-9!" Sanada barked.

"Yes Commander?" The robot spun its domed head toward the man.

"Go check our supply of nanomaterials. Hyuga will want a report I'm sure."

"Yes Commander." The robot turned its head back to Takao and seemed to give a mental shrug before rolling away.

Kongo was beginning to wonder what sort of madhouse she had awoken in. Her thoughts were abruptly ripped from her consciousness.

"KONGO!"

"Maya…"
