Bloody Evolution (RWBY / LoR)

[X] Tales of pride before a fall are a dime a dozen. You could very easily orchestrate something like that for Ironwood. There's no reason not to accept in that light.
-[X] But perhaps there's another component to that timeless tale. The rise after fall. Ruin Ironwood, but see if he has the will, and ability to learn and become something more. That will at least make it interesting and fulfill your needs as well.

So, was rereading the update (because it was that good), and I want to point some little things out:

First, Binah killed two birds with one stone when telling the end of the story to Ash with Carmen listening. She calmed down Ash and gave her something to live for, and she set the stage by reminding Carmen of Roland's rampage and how dangerous he can be, ensuring that she would hesitate when Binah tells her she could point that at her.

Second:
And what is more, the remaining Sephiroth may yet worship the ground you once walked on, but Angela does not.

I do think the result wouldn't be all the sephiroth not being willing to fight Carmen, Hokma was always more interested in Ayin than her, for one.

But also, they all grew, and Carmen seems to have changed for the worse (or her ten thousand years in isolation made her worst part come to the surface, very close either way), I could see Netzach rejecting her current mindset despite being the one closest to her and from there, well… if the one who was mostly in it for Carmen has a possibility of rejecting her current mindset, why couldn't the others?

It is far from impossible the Sephiroth would all support Roland here, and it is very likely they would at least hesitate enough to not get in his way.

I know Crisis Core was just released, but chill :V
Ah, there was the excess H. Fixed.

That aside, just as Nyarky pointed out a few posts ago: this is not about orchestrating the fall of Atlas. I can roughly imagine how people got to that conclusion, but the mystery man said quite clearly that he wants James Ironwood's life, and only that, in shambles. Atlas will take a hit, sure, but he is not after destroying the kingdom.

You wouldnt even need to use the Sephiroth. The fact that even Ayin would reject her is telling enough.

Even though that man is the biggest Carmen simp possible.

As for the Ironwood vote. Even if we are only targetting Ironwood...I still dislike it personally.

The man isn't quite as unreasonable in the quest as he is in canon. Even Winter in the chapter is turning around and cooperating with Binah now.

Moreover, I don't think we should let Watts indulge in his vengeance. Last time, Binah supported Angela because it was either that or death.

With Watts, its a circumstance similar to Roland. But a bit less worse...perhaps.

I don't know what exactly Naron plans for Watts and Ironwood, but their story is perhaps a lot deeper here than in canon.

Maybe dig it up and have them talk before we make judgment like this based on oneside's wants.

My hope is to manage to use toppling Ironwood as an *excuse* to topple the Schnee patriarch, actually, my dream scenario is having reasonable Faunuses taking their respective place, but that's naught but a daydream, too much bad blood for that not to end in disaster.

Still, Atlas is in dire need of a revolution anyway, and we may be able to make it less bloody if we are the one to strike the match.

We should still pour some gasoline in strategic places though. You now, just to make sure.

Have a vote tally.
Is there a good reason to refuse here, or do something else before accepting? (I do wonder what Penny would think of this further down the road, when she has more experience in everything)

    [X] Accept
    [X] Accept
-[x] Do try to make Jacques Schnee fall with Ironwood, wouldn't want him to be alone in misery after all.
-[x] And try to get him a successor too, preferably one that will make him seems like the hypocritical Tinman he is by comparaison.
[X] Lie about accepting, find him, and take the knowledge from him
[X] Accept, but make sure that this vengeance will affect Ironwood not Atlas. Iron man shall find heart for himself, he shall long for it forever after.
    [X] Accept
-[X] Ruin ironwood complete, there shall be nothing left but the shell of a man.
-[x] Do try to make Jacques Schnee fall with Ironwood, make sure to damage schnee industires.

Its clarion call rouses weary hearts and calms even the greatest wrath.
Hm, is there a way we could ask Ash to try and use this to negotiate for another solution with Watts (?)

Some relevant (?) quotes:
"This is about classism, a man spurned by those he sacrificed years of his life to; of pedigree superceding merit. Perhaps other matters factor into it as well, but this is meaningless now."
"I want him to watch his entire life's work crumble around him, want to see the entire world turn against him. I want him to live with this shame for the rest of his miserable life. Help me achieve this, and I happily shake your hand before giving Salem to you."
a bitter person with his back against the wall, so uncertain of the future that he simply grasps at whatever scraps he can get his hand on

This is probably Watts, given that the man is fairly coherent. That crazy Grimm doctor wouldn't even contemplate this.

And again. We don't know for sure why Watts is so adamant on Ironwood being the one who betrayed him. All we know is Watts have some connection with Ironwood and believe that Woodyboy was the one to betray him.

This is the same shit with Roland and Jae Heon. With the former just exacting vengeance and the latter not even understanding why the former is doing it to him.

This is one of those things where we should strap James onto an interrogation table (metaphorically or not depends) and grill him about it before making judgement.

Is that not a matter for this vote, or is there some way to integrate it?
Maybe some kind of "see your downfall personally" thing to get more exposition and decide accordingly?
The current vote already has "But perhaps there's another component to that timeless tale. The rise after fall. Ruin Ironwood, but see if he has the will, and ability to learn and become something more. That will at least make it interesting and fulfill your needs as well."

For all we know. The reason for Ironwood to reject Watts could've been because the mustache-twirling old man was planning on creating Skynet instead of sweet Penny.

Is there a good reason to refuse here

Well, Ironwood technically is one of the good guys?

His stubbornness and his semblance compounding it makes it a good idea to find him a more reasonable replacement anyway, and it would rub his nose in his failures too, hence my addition.

Jaques Schnee as an additional target is because I'll use any excuse to make his empire fall.

(I do wonder what Penny would think of this further down the road, when she has more experience in everything)

Idea: Penny for president (or at least, for the next person with two seats on the council).

Gotta say, seeing Carmen get verbally stomped by Binah was incredibly satisfying.

is it time to test Ironwood's Mettle?

Looks like this is it in terms of votes, so I am closing it here.

And it seems people want to pull a Binah on Binah and pontificate at her. Although I get the feeling there is a misunderstanding in how people expect this to go down.

Well, we will see.

I personally expect her to pontificate back, so, two to three updates before she stops should be a good prediction. :V

And part of why I didn't vote for this one is because I really can't see why Binah would try to buoy Ironwwod, she was asked to make him fall, and make him fall she will, the second part is pointless in my eyes, I think it won't happens.

But that would mean actually giving mustache man what he's paying for. And I want to break the mustache too, by giving him what thinks he wants and to follow that up by taking it away.
It will be like hitting two birds with by throwing the second stone.

It seems we won't be taking down evil Jack Frost.

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

Sorry, I have a habit of writing my votes in character of the MC and sometimes often a trifle bit abstract :( Still not used to the way you have the votes as an independent voice.

Eh even now I doubt the choice I made. Even if I said it was the least I'm wary was. I just didn't know if what it is said even needed *cause tale might be boring or something*
