Blood and Secrets (Legend of the Five Rings)

@Dirtnap
@GilliamYaeger

You guys okay with ending the scene with Chuu? I can edit to pilot the two samurai out of their presence so we can make for some interaction. Saburou would like to share what he found with the investigation roll over the carpenter.

Sorry if I'm being pushy. I want to get the post up but can't pilot Shizuka and Kimiko without your permittion, as you guys maybe have something to tell on them.

Um, I thought Chu and his apprentice left, and you're currently being addressed by the innkeeper?

Okay.

Why in the actual hell I read "aprendice" instead of "inkeeper"? How can that happen?

Sorry for slowing you guys down. This is happening too me way to often and is starting to be annoying. :confused:

My suggestion is that we leave the doshin outside the house for now and ask him to wait there in case we do end up having need of him inside, and for any questions we might have.

Whoever has the Battle Skill, you may roll it to determine the nature of the attack that took place here. And, of course, Investigation must be rolled to see if you find anything of note within the hut.

Hi.

Konichiwa DM,

Have a slot for a new player? Been playing L5R campaigns elsewhere for quite some time, always interested in the lore.
We run this all in our little group- RP is closed, and was planned months before IC got posted. You're free to watch and talk in OOC, though!

I'll let someone else handle the battle roll. From his part, Sab will be doing what he's best at. :D

Also, hope you guys are having as much fun reading the IC as we're having writing on it. :D

You all can tell that while a few peasants may have tried to put up a fight, the amount of blood on the far wall means most of the inhabitants attempted to flee toward the back room. You also notice a burned spot on the floor near the entrance, a blackened silhouette vaguely in the shape of a man. You can only surmise, for those of you who know, that this is where the doshin Yujin met his end. Since the scorch marks are so close to the door, that would imply that he was slain very quickly upon entering the hut.

@EtchedSteel

You notice much the same as the others, but also see something hidden beneath all the broken furniture. It is the glint of metal, and upon closer inspection you see that it is a wakazashi. Even beneath all the wreckage, your keen eyes spot that it is stained with dried blood. The cloth of its hilt is wrapped in two alternating colors, yellow and dull red. You can tell, just at a glance, that it is good quality. It is not the finest blade, by any means, but definitely something worthy of a Samurai.

@GilliamYaeger
You don't detect much in the way of physical evidence beyond what your compatriots notice, but the sheer destruction within the hut speaks volumes to you. To your war trained eyes it is obvious that there were at least four attackers, and that they assaulted the peasants with a ferocity that strikes you as more akin to beasts than anything human.

Closer inspection of the wakazashi reveals the colors are actually closer to gold than yellow, sitting in a spot between the two. The red, in contrast, is very dark. In fact, it almost seems rust colored. For a few brief moments you think these might be the colors of the Phoenix, but dismiss that notion. The Phoenix favor dark yellows, as well as bright reds and oranges. The hues on the Wakazashi hilt are too different for what is typical of the Clan of Shiba.

The Phoenix dismissed from your minds, the answer soon becomes obvious. These are the colors of the Miya Imperial Family.
