Blood and Secrets (Legend of the Five Rings)

Saburou will hide it inside his bag as well, beneath all of his belongings, and wrapped around clothes, yes.

For your investigations in the village of Tenraku, coming one step closer to solving this mystery, you all have gained 2 experience points.

Two more XP required until Perception 3... almost there...

I think Saburou can see it wasn't the case, dear. In fact, he can stare into your sooouuuuuuuuul... :D

You can tell that the man's cheer is covering up just as much fear as everyone in the room, though he hides it well. He's very actively trying to avoid whatever it is that's worrying him, which is presumably the same thing bothering everyone else.

@EtchedSteel
You see all that, but to much greater depths. The man is worried and throwing himself into his job so that he doesn't have to focus on the problems plaguing his village and the others in the region. You can also tell, however, that he is genuinely happy to see you and your group. There could be several reasons for this, of course. Samurai customers bring prestige and they often mean more commerce for whatever establishment they frequent. You get the distinct impression it is more than that, though. He seems almost grateful for your presence, like your coming has relieved him of some of the worry that permeates the undercurrents of the room.

You've managed to ease tensions a fair amount in this village. People are calmer and more relaxed now that they know Samurai are on the job to investigate these frightening matters. They are eagerly looking forward to your success. However, they're all still quite fearful of all the terrible things that have happened. The peasantry believe you wish to help them and deeply appreciate that, but they're obviously keeping themselves from hoping too strongly lest they be crushed further should you fail to stop these crimes.

You vaguely know that sometimes Samurai of the Lion are given the option of purging a great shame by going out and dying messily on some battlefield somewhere. They aren't made Ronin, but are given a mixed reception from their kin. They are respected that their dedication is such that they would gladly seek death to purge their shame, while at the same time not forgetting they have shamed themselves.

What the fuck Kimiko

You're so stupid you just made a friend out of sheer stupid

You can determine pretty easily this man is scared he might have insulted you all with how flippant he was earlier in his failure to acknowledge your group. This is not surprising, as this is something that could easily be taken as an insult worthy of injury or even death should a Samurai truly wish to press the matter that far.

@Rook
Matsui is very tired, and has obviously been a Doshin a good deal of his life. It isn't a physical tiredness, per se, but rather something of the spirit. He's almost certainly been at this job for a long time and it has left its mark on him. Considering recent events, you doubt things have gotten any easier.
