Best In Life - Imperial Knight Order Quest [Warhammer Fantasy]

It's all good and fun to hate Bretonnia, but they're our closest Human ally, so we should avoid pissing them off too much. Besides, the Empire has Knightly traditions and Orders centuries older than Bretonnia, one of them would be better to duplicate.
Nah, they'll always be offended at us. I mean, they think throwing a pommel at someone is dishonorable?

They think us bludgeoning a defeated opponent to death is dishonourable. Throwing our pommel at them is just a talking point to add to the pile.

Like, by the time Johanna split his skull open, the Marquis had already been violently unhorsed and had his knee shattered. That's the kind of damage that lays you out on your back in a stupor. And then we split his head open. This isn't dishonourable, precisely, but it is uncommonly bloodthirsty, because that's who Johanna is.

They think killing is only honorable when they say it is. I didn't see any mention of a contract. Damn Brettonians always imposing rule on the Imperium. There shall never be peace between them for this!

Bretonnians, especially the nobles, do have a lot of genuine emphasis on honor.

They also have few qualms in rules-lawyering and nitpicking and technicalities.

Together, a very annoying group at times.

Karl is obviously giving us a large box filled with coffins for our enemies. :V
Karl Franz: "I know you have a vampire problem, so here's a coffin."

Johanna: "Okay, forward thinking, but what about putting him into it?"

Karl Franz: "I assumed you'd take care of that. It's a double large."

Johanna: "...You're lucky you are Emperor now."

Karl Franz: "I know." :D

I think Kislev deserves that title more.

Nonetheless, I think having the Empire and Bretonnia in a state of open conflict, or even in a peaceful, but strained and distrustful relationship, is a net loss for both sides. It's not like the human nations are lacking in enemies, no need to pick extra fights along the way - after all, we might be quite happy to see their knights when Archaon comes knocking.

Of course, throwing pommels at opponents to end them rightly is a perfectly legitimate thing to do. It's in instruction manuals, even!

Sad that Morr didn't win again

Anyway I have a question say that we did lose to the Knight of the Realm and became his wife what magnitude of a political shitstorm would that cause probably a really really bad one

Well, he would've assaulted and kidnapped the Emperor's sister, a member of Reikland's peerage and the Grandmaster of a Knightly Order. I wouldn't be surprised if Louen loses his shit the instant news of the clusterfuck reaches the Court and immediately sends a strong response to the Marquis.

I think that it would be...quite the upset. It depends on how wide known the circumstances of the marriage is. The sister of the emperor being forced to marry a Brettonian count is definitely something that would ruffle feathers. Maybe not outright war. But it is the kind of thing that might lead to it.

Really it would depend on how much we'd fight the marriage. If we just grimly accept it, minor fuss, marriage happens, maybe some strengthened ties between Bretonnia and the Empire. Maybe the end of the quest, though I doubt it. Worst case, if we fight it, they send an army, Franz sends an army back, and then we have a war. A bit like the Trojan War. With the possibility of vampires out of nowhere.

Or Louen could decide not to let a vassal piss of the Emperor of their allied nation and tell the Duke to get his underling under control or have a personal conversation with the Knight himself.

I mean, if we lose an honor-bound duel about becoming this count's wife and fight against that, that kind of thing would get a lot of Bretonnian's attention and ire. Remember, honour is a big deal for them. Literally the reason we'll have to deal with the count is because of an honour thing. And if enough counts and barons and knights make it clear they won't stand for such a blatant disrespect by this 'woman' knight, Louen would either have to blow a load of political favours and support trying to calm everything down, or start a war. And in some cases, it's easier to start a war than deal with politics. Just because he is king does not mean he can get away with everything.

Are we allies with Bretonnia?

I thought we were just in the equivalent of a non agression pact with them currently.
There's a thousand plus years of history between the Elector Counties and Bretonnia, with three hundreds years for the Empire proper, they are allies as much as they are rivals.

Unless things changed and the Fey Enchantress spoke against Louen, he is the supreme will of the land.
