I hope that in the long run we can manage to worm our way into Satine's Council of Neutral Systems with a lot of bullshit rather than join the CIS and be utilized as a pawn in Palpatine's War.

But, we will see where matters take us as we learn of the greater galaxy and it learns of us.

I wanna be our own thing slowly taking over while the big players are distracted
Their petty politics are of no use to us

It's an understandable desire to want to just stand alone without politicking, but frankly, impossible.

The Republic and CIS are too widespread in a too connected galaxy, with too many scouts, spies, informants and mystical voodoo warriors with visions from a otherworldly source for us to remain undetected.

Especially as we have already taken a bite of a 'independent' major power that nobody likes but everybody has some connection to in a way, the Hutt Cartel. Our presence and disruption to their order will vibrate and send waves through the system of this galaxy. Likely nothing too major as of yet, but the giant sides will inevitably find out about us.

Maybe if we had started off the hyperlanes as a remote planet off the grid, but no, we are very much in the system, a remoter system than the major ones, next to the group nobody likes that we just poked in the eye, but still, we are in vision range.

Only thing we can do is manage our image in the eyes of the galaxy and if we learn fast enough, choose how to approach it. Because otherwise it will approach us and get our measure on their terms.

I'd still like to stay an unkown for as long as possible
Until we're too big for them to take on without difficulty

Also idea
We send out teams to stealthy "acquire" new species

As long as possible isn't very long sadly, but it is best that we take the limited time we have available to build up and prepare for our inevitable discovery whether it's from our forays out, from mercs talking or from the Hutts preparing to move against us being noticed.

Once we have a spacefleet of any capability, ideally enough to fend off small pirate groups, it should be simple enough to send out sample acquisition teams, and there are many creatures across the galaxy viable for becoming basis for new cloned synths. There are many monsters and species of neat capabilities scattered across the stars thanks to various writers and the Republic should have various databases of them easy enough to examine by way of something as simple as paying for a library subscription.

Our main issue is the need for large amounts of population to convert into workers and soldiers, beyond that of anything 'stealthy', we are going to be doing planetary invasions in force soon as we can get a spacefleet good enough to both defend and attack into Hutt space.

We'll want to present ourselves as freeing people from Hutt control, maybe insinuate in our PR that we're a abolitionist group or rebellion while coming off very much as "New boss same as old boss" to those that are skeptic, like a competing underworld group.

What we want to keep under our hat is our true nature and precisely what we do to the population of planets we take until we get strong enough that we're shelved under a problem for later rather than something easily crushed.

I'd argue that a more efficient usage of them would be to be send them out on shorter range scouting missions. The more uninhabited planets we find off the proverbial grid, the more resources we can remorselessly suck out of them with no hesitation in order to fund our own expansionist growth. As fun as Synths are, our purpose is to harvest the galaxy dry of all available resources, and Star Wars has a habit of being very dependent on its hyperspace routes to facilitate travel.

Scouting off the hyperlanes is rather harder and riskier than traveling across the galaxy as you should know, there are good reasons for them being dependent on routes. While I'm not against scouting some, we need to be aware that off-lane scouting will take longer and likely be less rewarding than going along the systems already set and conquering planets already with their own infrastructure, already determined to be 'worth it' to somebody to set up there. And we're on a bit of a time limit before bigger powers come knocking due to the ripples we've already made through our actions.

Of course, there's nothing preventing us from growing our fleet big enough to both off-lane scout for quality worlds and specimen hunt. But our first priority needs to be getting forces equal to expected Hutt retribution.

We will conquer this galaxy for the combine eventually
It's only a matter of time
Also we should wipe out the ewoks
Strip endor down to the bedrock

While that's understandable, I still figure having a relatively untrackable method of funneling tonnes upon tonnes of resources into our ongoing development would be more beneficial in building up what we already have instead going hunting for better aliens for future Synth integration. Not to say we can't do it, but it's far more a defensive method rather than risk identification and issues with foreign groups by attempting to abscond with minor resources from distant sources. Better to expand to our immediate stellar and interstellar neighborhood and plunder the immediately available nodes nearby than invest resources in distant, potentially controversial sources further afield. That, and I think attempting to integrate already established sources of infrastructure and material will prompt further conflict and interference from distant powers before we have the strength or ability to fully contest them in an effective manner.

Better to take steps towards turning our world into a fortress planet that gives us a potential defense against the improbably luck of the universe rather than risk further discovery and conflict with groups like the CIS or Republic. Besides, if we manage to finesse the Hutts into accepting our conquest of the planet, that just means we can invest without fear of further investigation from outside sources. If we're going to devour the hutts from the inside out, or work towards building an unstoppable military advantage, we need to have a core base to build that from.

We also don't need to go hunting ourselves. We can just plug ourselves into the existing galactic slave markets. Tatooine is right there. We don't need to be shady and suspicious at all.
