... I feel like a lot of people still don't understand how difficult everything is going to be. Though it may be that I'm overestimating the danger, I feel I must reiterate, we chose Insane Difficulty, the most difficult option. We are 200 years out of date on almost all fronts. And my biggest concern is, people seem to think we'll be able to take on anything with our current abilities. They are wrong. It's talked about in both the manga and the anime that if humans had Tech equal to the Fog, they would never have been pushed out of the ocean, and the Fog would have been destroyed, because the Fog did not understand Tactics and Strategy. That's why the Joint Tactical Net and the Mental Models were created, to ensure that the Fog could fight the rapidly improving humanity on both Tactical and Strategic scales. We may have a strong core, but that's the only thing we have going for us. We might be able to do more than just float around and fire obsolete weapons, but that shouldn't mean we should get all gung-ho about just yet.

All I want, is one more turn at the Sub Pen, we explore the JTN this turn, then next turn use the Uplink and plot a course for somewhere else that isn't Hawaii. Just one more turn to learn and prepare, that's all we need, and all I ask for. After that, anywhere else is fine.

Except Hawaii. That's just begging to be shot.

Personally I'm paranoid. I have a feeling that if we don't depart now, we will be having difficulty in the future.

We can access the JTN while at sea. We can only use the sat uplink on the island. So I'd rather use that now and then access the network while we are already off the island.

You definitely raise a good point in favor of staying in the pen for one more turn and using the JTN.

You raise two good points, but to those I say, there's been no indication of anything major happening yet. Our awakening aside/maybe the awakening of some of the Fog. That's the reason for the order. Use the JTN now, before we set course for somewhere, then when we get a better idea of if and where we can find fellow Fog allies (or even enemies) giving us a better idea on where we want to go. Which also helps us deal with the only urgent wild card, our fellow Fog. Then we use the Uplink right before we leave for maximum avoidance of risk.

I also want to restate, the main reason I want to stay is for striping the facility more, meaning more nano-material for repairs and the like. Because unless it's going to be done automatically when we leave, choosing to stay seems like the only way to use the remaining resources of the base. Which was the reason I wanted to come back, to fully repair and supply. But we have no indication of just how repaired and rearmed we are. If we're good to go, I'd say somewhere around 75% capability, I'd be up for leaving next turn.

I just want to make maximum efficient use of resources, and make sure we're not unprepared for the next leg of this quest.

No offensive to everyone wanting to stay but there was a battle nearby, the America Navy is going to come back and search the area for survivors, considering the difficulty level were not going to be able to strip the base and leave undetected, and striping the base will be noticeable to anyone who checks this place out. To those who think stripping the base will put us on a better footing, please do remember that even if we take everything of value we cannot even hope to beat a human war ship unlike our possible ability to beat Fog vessels due to our capability to hack all the things.

Well yeah, I think a lot of people just want a better idea of where we're going before we head out and to try and get every last thing we can out of this place
