[X] [QUESTION] Let me write some questions to ask Eleanor.
-[X] [QUESTION] You were planning to satisfy your thirst by taking my blood when I was asleep. But am I the first person you've done this too? Or are their others?

We should see how many other people she might have fed on.

-[X] [QUESTION] How long have you been like this? Can you recall what you were doing shortly before that point?
We need to at least see if we can track down her Sire. We, Artie and Mr. Stakey want to have some words with him.

-[X] [QUESTION] How have you been effected by your condition? How have you been hiding it?
I'm curious of how her condition has affect her normal life and how she explains away her mistakes. Like accidentally breaking a plate from scrubbing to hard.

-[X] [QUESTION] Can you make some time in your schedule? Their are some people you'll need to meet sooner than later.
I'm not sure if Thin-bloods are allowed to go through Critias kindred course. But getting her in contact with Naomi's self defense classes would be smart.

Part of you squirms at your words. If Prince Jackson ever discovered Nick, Valerie, and all the mortals that have allowed you to feed, there'd be hell to pay.
This has always kinda bugged me. Is the problem that they know about kindred and aren't ghouls? Where do Blood Bag mortals fall into this?

Does ghouling them consensually out of necessity exempt them from our feeding?

If we get Iron Gullet and get blood bags from them as a middle man for feeding does that give us deniability?

Critias probably wouldn't accept Eleanor into his Eternal Academy, but Naomi Stewart would be happy to take her on as another student who'll owe her a favor.

This has always kinda bugged me. Is the problem that they know about kindred and aren't ghouls? Where do Blood Bag mortals fall into this?
Yes. Most Kindred understand the necessity of having a mortal servant who can still go out during the day. However, the fact that you don't have some kind of supernatural control over the mortals in the know is a Masquerade breach waiting to happen. As for blood dolls that form a vampire's herd? They're generally looking forward too much to their next fix to be much of a concern.

Does ghouling them consensually out of necessity exempt them from our feeding?
You can still feed from ghouls so long as you ask first. After all, the servants living in your haven were once bonded to the Prince before getting transferred over to you.

If we get Iron Gullet and get blood bags from them as a middle man for feeding does that give us deniability?
Yes, though not much. Still, every little bit helps when covering your ass.

Ohhhh. Okay so they're basically junkie that are too busy chasing what ever form their next fix is. It's kinda a self correcting problem then.

After all, the servants living in your haven were once bonded to the Prince before getting transferred over to you.
Right, right, I remember now. I guess it's just easy for me to forget being a ghoul doesn't necessarily mean your blood bonded.

Yes, though not much. Still, every little bit helps when covering your ass.
That is true, even little details can sway opinions.

I guess it's just easy for me to forget being a ghoul doesn't necessarily mean your blood bonded.
When I said "transferred," I meant that you're the ghouls' new regnant. Regular doses of vitae are included as part of their compensation. However, independent ghouls do exist, and they often hunt Kindred to gain access to their vitae and maintain their own immortality.

Just wanted to see if anyone is open for a discussion or maybe I'm using my Precognition power and have predicted the next update again. We will see. :D

[] Plan: Invictus—Bloody yet Unbound(XP)
-[] Potence 2: I developed my undead body's physical prowess. (10 XP)
--[] Prowess
-[] Obfuscate 3: I honed my mastery of supernatural means of concealment. (15 XP)
--[] Ghost in the Machine

Prowess is a general power up for all feats of strength which I think will help us. It also adds to our damage if we feel like using brawl again. I chose Ghost in the Machine because it doesn't require a rouse check and will effect all past and future Obfuscate powers. So this specific power upgrades all our others.

-[] Trade Among Equals: For all their suffering, the Low Clans benefitted from their adversity in one key way—they taught each other their powers. (Low Clan Loresheet)(12 XP)
--[] [Oblivion] (-2 XP) = (10 XP)
--[] [Protean]
--[] [Celerity] (-2 XP) = (10 XP)
--[] [Presence] (-2 XP) = (10 XP)
--[] [Fortitude] (-2 XP) = (10 XP)
--[] [Auspex] (-2 XP) = (10 XP)
--[] [Dominate]

For this Loresheet these are my picks, Fortitude because it would increase both Artie's and Courage's Health pools. Bonus, it will increase Unswayable Mind as well increasing our ability to resist future manipulation. Now nothing is stopping us from doing both. This is mostly decide which gets the discount and is easier to acquire.

-[] Fortitude 2: I developed my ability to resist physical trauma. (14 XP)
--[] Enduring Beast
--[] Fortitude 3: I developed my ability to resist physical trauma. (21 XP)
---[] Resilience

Or, we can go for Oblivion. There are certainly good reasons too, especially if we try to solve the ghost problem ourselves. Assuming we can find someone to teach us ceremonies. I chose Shadowcast because it would give us an edge for when we eventually have to fight with words for all beliefs. Not sure if Binding Fetter is allowed but given the circumstances we may be able to learn it organically, maybe.

-[] Oblivion 2: I delved deeper into the shadowy mysteries Sierra introduced to me. (14 XP)
--[] The Binding Fetter
--[] Oblivion 3: I delved deeper into the shadowy mysteries Sierra introduced to me. (21 XP)
---[] Shadowcast

Sorry, I'm afraid the next update won't be out for a few more days. In the meantime, feel free to think of more questions you'd like to ask Eleanor. For instance, you might ask what she intends to do as one of the Damned.

I'm afraid the Oblivion Discipline is currently off the table for the Low Clans Loresheet. While Lasombra may be distrusted by the Camarilla establishment, they still retain their status as a High Clan. However, if you happen to meet a member of the Hecata, you'll get your chance to hone your understanding of Oblivion Ceremonies.

However, the Gangrel and Malkavians have much to offer as well. Bronwyn could serve as a powerful Mawla against Jason Newberry, while Rosa Hernandez can play a similar role against the Lupines. There's also the Gangrel biker gang known as the Wolf Pack, who might be able to get you on the radar of some powerful vampires if that's something you want to do.

Of course, we can't forget about the Ministry as well. Marcel has held a seat on the Primogen Council ever since the Tremere withdrew to focus on internal matters.

I don't know when it was be we talked about this a month or so ago. I think I was under the impression the Hecate or one of its bloodlines were considered a Low Clan. I'll take it iff and reconsider the other options for the Loresheet. I'm still for the fortitude but I do want to be fair towards those that have a different opinion.

That's good to hear, we'll have to keep our eye out.

So many opportunities so little XP. In the future we will just have to make a judgement call once we have the XP.

Family Ties 10.05
After a few moments, you ask your first question. "Earlier, you tried to take my blood while I was asleep. Am I the first person you've done this to? Or are there others?"

"You're not the first person I've drawn blood from," Eleanor confirms. "The whole reason I started the bed and breakfast business was to make feeding easier. Most of my guests are tourists from out of town - they don't usually stay long enough to realize that they're experiencing the symptoms of blood loss."

You nod. In Kindred parlance, Eleanor would be what some might call a "sandman" - a lick who feeds from sleeping victims, usually by breaking into their homes. However, Eleanor seems to have found a more discreet and profitable way to slake her thirst. Why trip a burglar alarm when you can have vessels pay for the privilege of turning their Airbnb into the Kindred equivalent of DoorDash?

While the possibilities are intriguing, you have more immediate concerns to address. "How long have you been like this? Can you recall what you were doing shortly before that point?"

Eleanor purses her lips in thought. "God, it's been months since I turned into…this. I barely remember what happened. All I know is that one night, I got mugged while on my way home from the dry cleaner, and the next day, I woke up on the side of the road, covered in blood. Everything hurt."

You hum in thought. It sounds as though Eleanor's sire was some anonymous transient Anarch who got sloppy while feeding. Part of you wants to put a stake through whoever did this. However, discovering the culprit would be next to impossible with a trail of evidence this cold. For all you know, Eleanor's sire could be on the other side of the moon. In any case, you'd be better off pursuing a different line of questioning. "How have you been affected by your condition? How have you been hiding it?"

Eleanor takes a moment to consider. "Well, I can still go out during the day and look the same as when I was alive. Aside from, you know, the constant Hunger, not much has changed. I can still keep food down fine, too, though I can barely taste it anymore. Aside from Bruno and Margaret, blood is the only thing keeping me going. If I can keep from going hungry, the Beast inside me stays quiet."

Eleanor drops her head down, staring at her feet while lost in memory. You recall how she cringed when Bruno mentioned the death of the family cat, Marmalade. It's far from uncommon for fledglings fresh from the Embrace to have accidentally killed something during their first few nights as one of the Damned. You'd be willing to stake a boon that Marmalade was the unfortunate victim of Eleanor's first feeding frenzy. In any case, it'd be best not to let your hostess dwell on her slain pet. "So what do you plan on doing; now that you're Kindred?"

Eleanor's reply comes almost immediately. "To keep my family safe and happy - and in the dark about what I am now."

Privately, you wonder just how long Eleanor can keep up the charade. The thinness of her vitae may allow her to pass as human, but it's only a matter of time before her family notices that she hasn't aged a day since her Embrace. You were fortunate to have Nick stand by your side as you adjusted to your new condition, but could Eleanor say the same about her family? Should Margaret discover her wife's true nature, would she take Bruno and run away before Eleanor's bestial temper causes her to tear the family apart, perhaps literally?

You decide to change the subject. "Did you get involved in the neighborhood watch before your Embrace or after?"

"Before," Eleanor answers. "We've got a strong community here. Everyone on the street works together to keep each other safe. That said, the neighbors don't need to know what happens inside my home."

You nod. "Would you prefer to have contact with other Kindred or stay on the down-low and keep to yourself?

"I want to find another person like me," Eleanor replies, staring at her hands. She then looks up at you. "If you could introduce me to someone who can help keep my family safe, I'd appreciate it."

You hum in thought. While you don't know any thin-bloods besides Eleanor, you know a couple of full-blooded Kindred who might be willing to overlook the thinness of her vitae if it means advancing their plots and schemes. Connecting Eleanor to the right lick could pay dividends for you later on. After a moment's thought, you supply Eleanor with a single name.

[] [CONNECT] "Naomi Stewart." She might be willing to take on Eleanor as another student in her academy.
[] [CONNECT] "Alan Sovereign." The Prince's Seneschal is constantly looking for another revenue stream.
[] [CONNECT] "Bronwyn." Eleanor might bond with the Malkavian over their shared experience running B&B properties.
[] [CONNECT] "Kathy Glens." They both have strong ties to the people living here.
[] [CONNECT] Forget bringing other licks into this. I'm the best bet for Eleanor to make it as a fledgling.
[] [CONNECT] I'll write the name of a different Kindred who might be a good connection for Eleanor.

-

"I've got one last question for you, Artie." As she says this, Eleanor fixes you with a look determined to get answers out of you. "Why are you here? I may not know much about Kindred, but I doubt they rent rooms in Chicago suburbia for fun."

You now have a choice to make. You've spent enough time with Eleanor to get the feeling that she'll stay out of your way if it means keeping her family clear of the dangers of being a vampire in Chicago. However, her connections to the local community could prove instrumental in keeping Kathy's family safe from whatever lick is stalking them. If you want her cooperation, you must decide which maternal button to press.

Of course, you needn't rely on words alone. Everyone has their price, and you have enough cash to keep your hostess from asking too many difficult questions. However, if you wish to keep your green, you could always offer Eleanor the red stuff she's been craving. Of course, whether you inform her of the dangers of partaking in another vampire's vitae is entirely up to you.

[] [ELEANOR] I don't want to risk Bruno losing a parent. "The less you know, the safer you and your family will be."
Automatic Success

[] [ELEANOR] I'll appeal to my hostess's maternal instinct. "I need your help protecting another family who lives here."
-[] I'll make a Rouse check to add two dice to my roll.
-[] I'll spend a point of Willpower to reroll up to three dice unaffected by my Hunger.

Charisma + Persuasion - 1 (Difficulty: 5)

[] [ELEANOR] Let's play on Eleanor's fears as a mother. "A bloodsucking monster is stalking the neighborhood."
-[] I'll make a Rouse check to add two dice to my roll.
-[] I'll spend a point of Willpower to reroll up to three dice unaffected by my Hunger.

Manipulation + Intimidation + 2 (Difficulty: 4)

[] [BOOST] Words mean nothing. I'll sweeten the deal and offer Eleanor something of substance to lower the Difficulty by one.
-[] I'll pay her a dot of Resources to keep an eye on the Kathys.
-[] I'll feed Eleanor a Rouse check's worth of vitae. After all, it's what she came here for.
--[] No need to tell her about the Blood Bond just yet…
(One Stain)

[] [BOOST] I'm confident enough in my people skills to sway Eleanor with words alone.

[X] [CONNECT] "Naomi Stewart." She might be willing to take on Eleanor as another student in her academy.

She's got the time, resources, connections, and experience.

There's no point with using Blood Surge for this. If we're willing to make a Rouse Check to boost our odds, better to go with the blood bribe.

The other options have a small chance of success. A single Rouse Check to gain a whole new ally with very relevant connections is a great trade.

@Andres, the BOOST option only lowers the Difficulty of the ELEANOR choices. You still need to pick how to gain Eleanor's cooperation, whether by appealing to her better nature or emphasizing the danger lurking in the shadows.

...do we have the Willpower free? Also, question, are Untrained Skill penalties a thing in oWoD? In nWod that big fat Goose Egg, gang, in Intimidation would be a very bad sign.

We have full willpower, resources are for spending, and the bribe is basically a better Blood Surge. Intimidation would be an automatic success, but it's not the best for building a long-term relationship with her, and her cooperation would end were she to discover that there's no threat to her family.

I would like to advocate for regaining Resources 3 next time we spend xp. Resources has proven itself to be damned useful throughout the quest, and building up our stock would help us better than spending 3 xp on pretty much anything else.

The loss of Resources is temporary. Once the story arc concludes, Artie will sell another work of art to regain his wealth. However, if you want more money to throw around, consider investing XP into Crossguard Security.

Definitely working on it. Like Buggy the Clown before us! Crossguard Security will be our seat of power in these long nights! :D

In a roundabout way this could get us an inside ear on Naomi's teachings. Rumors are rumors but it's a rule of thumb to verify authenticity.

Yep, hoping to get from Resources 2 to 3 to get three dots to spend each story. Cash rules everything around Kindred, creak, get the money, dollar dollar bill, all.
