Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199 (Yamato yo Towa ni: Rebel 3199)

I'm a little confused--there were two SBY2199 bluray releases with English subtitles; an early one, that was overpriced and very short-lived, and a later one from Funimation that I picked up. So the series is available with English subtitles.

Yes, but not the video that's the subject of the post that I'm replying to.....

Also, see this post, where I explained all of what you just said in much more detail:

Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199 (Yamato yo Towa ni: Rebel 3199) Anime

Originally, Voyager (the people who got the license for star blazers, and put out the vhs tapes, and eventually, dvd sets) put out like 6 of 8 incredibly overpriced (like 60 bucks each) sub only dvds (We'll make the dub later, trolololol), of Star Blazers 2199 (and had the fuckin' subs call it...

The first one that was overpriced was from Voyager Entertainment (Japanese side). They announced it near the end of Yamato 2199 with a Star Blazers 2199 title because I guess they wanted to hold that trademark in North America? Maybe to help Americans recognize the series?

But the thing is, Yamato 2199 on Blu-ray came with English subtitles on release in Japan. The limited edition North America release was weird since it also changed the episode release pattern to four episodes for the first six chapters and two in the last disc (which never released since it stopped after chapter Four).

The Funimation release came with the release of Yamato 2202 and was dubbed into English. Releases as 13 episode box sets (meaning it it only slightly off pattern in the middle, as Chapter Four would end at episodes 14 not 13.). But the cliffhanger nature of Yamato 2202 meant those where dealt with with the second half easily. As Yamato 2202 chapters seemed to end the plot arc at episode three and start the next arc in episode four.

Megahouse did have a limited time version of Yamato that came with an asteroid ring for 2202. (Cosmo Fleet Special)

A friend of mine made a tiny asteroid ring for a Yamato miniature using a ring of a jug of milk and glued kitty litter to it. Made a hole in it to mount the Yamato through it to the stand. I got him the Megahouse one years later when it came out in 2017.

I was gonna use brown sculpy formed into asteroids, and maybe a clear plastic ring. maybe I could still do that. i got plenty of mechacolle yamatos...

I believe he's a bit emotionally compromised at the moment. Plus Yamanami would be overall command of the 65th Escort Group anyway.

Beta Cannons this early into the show.
Bolar attacking.
Alpharatz and Asuka doing stuff.
Wave Motion Cartridges! (that Gorda is so screwed)

What's left is Galman-Gamilas stuff. The over arcing plot threat. and Arizona (Chapter Three).

Yeah, I'm sure there's a good reason for it. It just feels like it's Wildstar's place to be in command of the Yamato. Kind of like Kirk, and the Enterprise.

Kodai still might be the ship's captain, but defaulting to his superior officer at this time. He is likely an emotional wreck with Yuki potentially dead as far as he knows. He might get a hold of himself later and Yaminami gets himself another flagship (hopes in Arizona).

I look forward to wherever your journey takes us next.
What's next for Yamato? Well, that'll be...

Hideaki Anno Is Making a New Space Battleship Yamato Film

Japanese animator, filmmaker and actor Hideaki Anno announced this week that he will be embarking on a new anime project: Battleship Yamato.
Anno appeared on stage at the Space Battleship Yamato 50th anniversary screening and announced that he is producing a new film. He then disclosed that Studio Khara has been granted the rights to produce a movie based on the iconic Space Battleship Yamato franchise.

...

The as-yet-untitled new film is currently in the planning stages, with production on the movie tentatively scheduled to begin in 2025. The story of the film will differ from the Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2199, 2202, and 3199 anime series.

The article I read said that it was different from the 2199 universe. I don't know if I need another version of the journey to iscandar, tho. We'll see, I guess.

I also wanted to say that the animation for Arrivederci Yamato is just gorgeous. (although I'll never watch it again)
