    The guns fall silent as a new dawn rises over Lakshmibasti, tens of thousand breathing in the morning mists, freed from a government that had grown increasingly desperate the more it was pushed back in the short civil war. Three months of heavy fighting had seen not much destroyed that couldn't be replaced easily. Still, it had damaged trust between neighbors, family, and friends while disrupting industry, science, and stability.

    A new dawn rises, but it does so over smoke and rotting corpses; soldiers taken prisoner after capitulating march in columns guarded by those they once called comrades, uniforms once holding the patch of Praya were now adorned by the ribbon of the Burning Hand as hundreds meet in the National Assembly, groups from every section of those who fought and those who produced talking and demanding attention, seeking to be placed at the top of the pile by hook and crook or compromise and trade between those who agree and can work together.

    Months of fighting had seen those with aspirations for their future know they could claim it, and the most extreme from the rebels are not willing to let go so quickly, yet a government must form, and one form.

    The Interstellar plays as a woman gives a rousing speech before the damaged National Assembly, her image transmitted over the world as are the flags of red waving like a sea. A revolver is loaded in a makeshift prison courtyard as a man smokes his last cigarette. A shot rings out, and a body hits the floor.

    Two hands shake on a screen, a man and a woman patting each other on the shoulder as they turn to the cameras, smiles on their lips, the signed government charter proudly on display between the two. Dozens meet in a ringed assembly, hundreds more sitting around them, one representative of Unions, the other elected representatives of the people. The people's voice will be heard, whether by those working or those voting, no matter the cost.

    A man speaks before an assembly of representatives underneath walkways, filled with ordinary people peering down, their gazes and attention silently hanging over each and every person below like the sword of Damocles. The furnaces of industry belch smoke and machinery as farms grow food and produce; one hand wields biology upon a planetary scale while the other grips tight the code of thinking machinery. A society is reborn in the same breath as the dying one's last gasp left its chest; only time can tell if this side of the coin can shine more than the rust underneath.

    And yet, even as those people squabble, attention must be placed upon those things that need doing, those that require attention now before time rips away the drive, materials, and means by which they can be carried out. Prisoners must be judged, buildings repaired, and rifts mended, but what should be prioritized.
