[RIN DOJO 6]
The dojo is empty at first. Then you see Rin walk in, carrying a feather in one hand and a hammer in the other.
"Nora, it's about time I gave you your first major physics lesson!" she says cheerily.
You're not sure you need one. You've had at least ten more years of schooling than she has.
"You see, gravity pulls all objects towards the ground at the same speed. So even though this hammer is much heavier than the feather, when I drop them both from the same height..." Rin releases both objects from her hands, and they accelerate downwards, reaching the ground at the same time.
You believe Rin, but you're not sure how this is relevant to your death.
"Let me give you another example. When you fall, it's not the fall that's harmful to you, it's the landing!" As a demonstration, Rin pulls two triangular worms from her pockets, letting them squirm in her hands for a moment. "And the higher you fall from, the worse the landing is!"
Rin holds up one worm from waist height and lets it fall to the ground. Then she holds the other up high above her head, and drops it as well. Both worms survive the fall and squirm around happily on the ground.
You're not sure this was an effective demonstration.
"Well, screw you, you meanie!" Rin yells. Without any prompting you can see, the hammer lifts itself up from the ground and pounds the first worm twice, turning it into a grey smushed corpse on the ground. The latter worm tries to scramble away, only to get four strikes of the hammer that transform it into a black paste.
"Like I said, the further you fall, the worse the landing!"
[RESPAWN]
[X] Respawn from one update ago (Traditional Values)
-[X] There's a fire alarm, and you're on the top floor. You need to leave the building immediately.
-[X] Jump out the window.
-[X] Have Capitalist catch us before we hit the ground.
--[X] Have him land in a giant pile of money.
"The fire alarm is going off, and we're on the top floor," you say. "We're getting out of here."
"Let's take the elevator!" Waver says, at the same instant that Bazett says, "Let's jump off the roof."
"I like you," you say to Bazett, who seemingly doesn't even notice your compliment. Well, maybe she preens a little bit.
"We are NOT jumping out of a building!" Waver yells. "You guys are insane!"
"It's okay!" you yell back. "Capitalist will catch us!"
"I most certainly will not!" Capitalist complains, materializing in front of you. "Not only is it undignified, it will also put my spiritual form at significant risk."
"Then catch yourself in a giant money trampoline!" you say, grabbing a chair and tossing it through the window. You snatch Bazett and Waver's sleeves and drag them to the window, where you leap out over the fifty-story drop.
"Are you KIDDING me!" Waver yells. Bazett doesn't have any outburst for you, instead muttering a series of phrases you don't recognize that are either a prayer or a Gaelic reinforcement spell. Twenty-five stories down, Capitalist grabs the three of you, and your rate of descent begins to slow. He even manages to bring you to a coasting, parachute-like landing on a building across the street. You have just enough time for Waver to kiss the ground and praise his return to Terra Firma before the hotel implodes behind you, collapsing onto its own foundations and showering you in a cloud of dust.
"See! I was right!" you said. "If we hadn't left right then, we would have been in that thing!"
"That still leaves a number of questions," Bazett says. "Firstly, how did the bomber discover our location, and who are they? Second of all, why pull the fire alarm first, instead of just blowing up the building?" The magenta-haired girl snaps her fingers, and a figure in what is either blue body paint or blue spandex appears out of nowhere, cradling a red spear under his arm. "Lancer, you were patrolling our perimeter. Did you see any sign of our attacker?"
"'Hey, Lancer, how are you doing? Did you have a good night?'" Lancer jibes. "Would it kill you to make some small talk every now and then?"
"Yes." Bazett says. "Lancer, what's your report?"
"I did not see our attacker's face, Master," Lancer reports. "However, I did detect signs of another Master in the rubble of the hotel. He seems to have protected himself using a Mystic Code unknown to me. I also sensed at least one Servant not aligned with our group in the area."
[ ] Investigate the surviving Master and Servant.
[ ] Look for the bomber. They have to be nearby.
[ ] Attempt to provide an explanation for the bomber's behavior, specifically setting off the fire alarm before detonation.
[ ] Get out of here. You can regroup later.
