So we send a few guys with Martial in the high teens and go heads up on him, it's not a big deal. We have his full sheet, he has 0 Personal Combat boosts and no Awakened Aura.
It's far better than just ignoring him and hoping for the best or only firing him.
The problem with trying to arrest Ciskophis is that he is pretty liked by the people and we have nothing to arrest him for. Having our sisters on our side will work against any attempts he might take against us since he actually likes them and knowing what they think of this situation and Atlas will make sure we're not going to alienate them.

It would most likely seen as a power play, us getting rid of people we don't like and alienating our sisters since we'd be arresting him without really anything to pin on him, especially since he can just say "He's my son, I never thought he would do that." Though I very much doubt he had anything to do with the assassination attempt, considering how piss-poor it was, Atlas personally hiring the "assassin" and attempting to do it on such a public situation.
Maybe, maybe not, but our sisters starting to take our side would force him to reevaluate his situation and buy us time, since without Atlas one of them would be inheriting instead if something happened to us, and that's all if he even wants us dead, or just replaced.
We're more than likely going to have to get rid of him one way or the other soon, but I'd rather have something more than not watching his son more closely to pin on him and not alienate the rest of our family.

He's not going to be saying much of anything from jail, especially after we start tossing his effects. Do you really think we won't find -something- he's guilty of in the process?
His daughters aren't going to just jump ship and while they may not be ecstatic if something did happen, Medea's still heir. Again, SHORT time period. They still are going to like him far more than they like us and he has all the time in the world to repair that relationship if it really was damaged in the process of getting their dynasty back.
Potentially alienating the rest of the family in trade for getting rid of a dire immediate security threat is a trade I will take any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I don't see it working since the only thing we could use as a reason to throw him to a jail is him not doing his job properly, which is a reason to fire people, not jail them. And I don't expect us to find anything damning either because he isn't stupid enough to keep things like those in his quarters or what not, or because he actually hasn't done anything damning. He's an absolute ass and hates us, but from what I've gathered he does care for our realm. And just jailing him for a short time instead of getting rid of him is just going to make him hate us even more and make our position even worse
Our sisters aren't just going to jump ship immediately, which is the reason we need to start getting them on our side ASAP. Alienating them by getting rid of Ciskophis without good evidence/reason would just change one enemy to two. And the rest of the court knows that we don't have a good relationship, so if we do that, they're not going to like that and might even start to think that they could be our next targets.
I want to neutralize him as well, but we need something more substantial than what we have right now. Like, if Atlas actually escapes that would give us enough evidence to get rid of him. First he failed to stop an assassination and then the culprit, who just happens to be his son, manages to escape right under his nose even though he's supposed to be our spymaster.
Still, at this moment I think it is best for us to just see which plan wins and hold to our right to say "I told you so." to each other if things go belly-up.
Well I think everybody's gotten nice and galvanized so I can lock for maximum additional salt. So I'll lock now.
Sisterhood it is~

Tired, will do the rest when I get some rest of my own.
"Atlas can rot for a few months," you groan as you lay, recovering. "I need to make sure Ciskohpis can't poison my sisters to me as badly as he's poisoned my brother."
Pantakon nods slowly, and informs one of the officers of Atlas' new status. You drift in restful recovery.
---
It has been a week since the poisoning, and you are back to your usual vigor, so you decide to visit your sisters. Medea is in her room, as is usual, performing her daily rites. The door is open, but you knock all the same, making her flinch in surprise. Were you really that quiet?
"Medea?" you call.
She lifts herself up off the floor, suppressing a complex expression. "Ah, Megara."
She gestures to a plush seat. You take it. "Was that pity I saw you trying to hide just now, or relief?" you say, half-joking.
Medea's expression sours a bit as she sits across from you. "Disappointment," she replies in deadpan, prompting the two of you to share a chuckle before a tense quiet settles in. "I'm glad you're alright, Meg. When I'd heard you collapsed, were poisoned... I feared the worst."
You fumble for words, good manners escaping you in the face of naked kindness. You deflect, instead. "Come on, Medea, you know I'm tougher than that," you say, taking on a wistful tone. "Atlas never could get to me, even as a kid running to fa-th..."
Medea smirks and shakes her head, slow and disbelieving. "All those years, and you still have to stop yourself from calling him father," she observes. "It's a wonder, sometimes."
The two of you sit like that a while longer, lost in mutual reminiscence of better days. "I knew," Medea says, breaking the silence with a terrible revelation. "I didn't accept, but I knew. I... I never thought he would go through with it."
You are dumbfounded. "You... knew?"
Medea's next words come out quickly, like she's not sure you'll bother to stay and listen for much longer. "It was just another Atlas thing. Just him blowing off steam again!" she explains, making a disappointing amount of sense. "You know how he gets- I thought it was just another round of his idle whining!"
"I nearly died!"
"I'm sorry!" she says, voice cracking. "I'd never imagined he'd..."
But you're up, walking out already. It's too much, too sudden. Medea grabs you from behind, arms circling your stomach, and you try to pull her off. "Please," she begs. "You are my sister, Megara. Atlas might have forgotten that, but I haven't."
She holds on tight for a heartbeat, two, before you pull free to hold her back.
Trivia on sleep deprivation~ Remaining awake for ~24 hours simulates a moderate alcohol buzz.

Hard to say without knowing roll results. Ex-post facto analysis is generally fundamentally flawed. We argue to give the best chances of success or most logical course forward, not to give a guarantee of success one way or another.

-find a way to convert to the Scions
-get more cash

"Hah! Aiyah! Hah!"
The sound of repetitive striking and drill fills your ears as you approach Kalinas' training room. The door is unlocked, so there's no sparring going on at the moment, and you step in to see her master, Asp Oros, sitting off to the side and nodding along to himself as she progresses through a series of forms with her weapon, Theia Celest. Probably the single most-expensive project undertaken for a Huntress, the weapon gleamed with the reflective shine of clear, hardened glass wrapped about the steel sword at the core. A hint of red in the gleam gave away the glass's infusion, almost two percent, product of the finest smiths and infusers money could buy.
Asp claps, booming and attention-getting, and Kalinas pauses her forms to rest for a moment. "You have ten minutes, apprentice Kalinas," he says, nodding to you and going off into some other section of the acropolis' training yard.
Kalinas turns, and immediately turns back, performing a slower set of motions instead. "I don't want to talk to you," she says, voice even, something you know means she's pretty angry.
Having been the youngest for almost as long as the twins had been alive, Kalinas was much more used to Atlas' good side than you or Medea. She had always been more willing to believe him over you. "He tried to kill me, Kalinas," you say, hoping to reason with her.
"Shut up!" she interrupts, whirling on you and brandishing Theia Celest dangerously. "Why would you believe some fucking plebian server instead of your own brother!"
You pause, cautious of the deadly weapon pointed at you, backing up, aura rising. "Kalinas-" you begin.
"I don't want to hear it!" she butts in again, raising the weapon for a blow despite being nearly five meters away. You know better than to think such a swing would be harmless. "Get out, now!"
You acquiesce, more in fear that you'd have to punish your own sister for her intent than that she'd do any harm with her attack. The door closes, and you hear the sound of the lock. You stand there, defeated, for a minute or so longer, before the sounds of weapons clashing and angry, venting shouts echo from inside.
~~~~~~
You are still stewing at Kalinas' accusations when Gnostras approaches you in your study. "Ah, my Queen. Here you are," he says, sounding genuinely surprised despite knowing where you are this time of day. "I'm afraid I bear some poor tidings."
Great, you think, nodding slightly and giving Gnostras the permission he seeks. This day can't be much worse than it already is.
"Mmm, you seem troubled, as well," he notes before he begins. "Please, consider me at your service in these times of trouble."
"I don't need a sermon, Gnostras," you snap, covering up your irritation poorly. "What was the trouble you were talking about?"
Understanding, the teller nods, getting back to his original topic. "It seems a number of city tellers have caught onto a popular political service," he says with some slowness. "The gist of the service refers to several tales of usurpation and, more prominently, the Tale of the Folly in the Letter... My Queen, these sermons seem to be directed at you."
You wince, knowing immediately what Gnostras is talking about. The Folly in the Letter is a popular tale, taught to peasants to raise their awareness, but aimed at merchants and lords, as a warning. The story follows the Stormcaller, as he deals with his sister the Nightwing unfairly, tricking her with a peculiarly-worded agreement that she interprets with it's intent, and he interprets with it's words, eventually leading to him successfully snatching up a pretty young mortal girl from the jaws of death, making her immortal. The Nightwing is understandably upset, and so takes every single woman her brother lays with just before he... finishes, until he agrees to conform the deal to match the spirit it was given in. It's not all that difficult to infer exactly which 'rule' the city tellers are referring to... your inheritance.
Seeing that you understand, he nods along gravely. "This is a serious matter, as you see, Queen Megara," he says. "If the people question the legitimacy of your inheritance as being a quirk of the letters of the law, there could be violent demonstrations against you..."
Your brow furrows, mind racing to find a solution. "Thank you, Gnostras, for telling me," you say, distracted. "You may go..."
Gnostras leaves, allowing you to stew in consideration. Someone is poisoning everything against you, and you need to find out who.
~~~~~
You resolve to find out, disguising yourself one night as one of the acropolis' attendants and leaving a passable fake in your chambers, under the covers. After the first few hours, you appreciate the work done by the castle plebians, and you've come across a number of vile rumors that have been percolating the last two months since the assassination attempt.
You were looking for an excuse, so faked your own poisoning to imprison your brother. You were poisoned, but not by your brother's whim, but by your hypothetical father, seeking to deal with you quietly so you couldn't claim his land and title, and now your survival would give reason for him to declare war on you.
Each rumor was more elaborate and ridiculous than the last, but they were pervasive. They were on every pair of lips, hanging in the air between each whisper. Feeling thwarted somehow, but having no one to blame, you stalk back to your chambers to get at least a little rest, when you almost literally stumble across a cloaked figure attempting to escape your room, moonlight glinting off of an unsheathed blade.
The two of you stare at each other a moment, before he has the gall to try to stab you, your aura raised reflexively in response to seeing the knife making it terribly ineffectual, and the two of you grapple for a moment while you call the guard. There are some questions as to why you are disguised and not in bed, but a counterpoint of how this man got into your room and stabbed your pillows repeatedly shuts up the suddenly nervous night watch.
Evidence is piling up around you, shadows strike at you from the dark. You have a crisis, and you need to respond to it.
~~~~~
Emergency Council
There is a problem in your realm, requiring an immediate solution. You can reassign your Inner Council at will, canceling their turn action and rolls in favor of a new one, though they may be penalized. You can also declare arrests be made, but they will be more effective if you pursue them yourself during turn planning or by using a Councillor.
[] Write-in - You can stretch the functions of your council - and yourself - when emergency council is called. Elaborate plans and counters can be performed in the name of securing the realm.
Polybia: "Couldn't say, milady~ I could try to set up an experiment to find out in a few decades, if you could find me a partner to... work with~"
Gnostras: "I'm afraid it's not that simple, Queen Megara. History is fickle and mutable, and while any of a hundred bastard children could have inherited in the past, the better ones have written their lineage and histories to seem more like legitimate heirs than they were... I'm afraid most examples I can give are generally quite poor."
Kinda sounds like our ol' Spymaster but it doesn't sound like a 24 Intrigue level attempt. Then again, with Atlas in prison, daddy dearest may be trying to throw anything and everything at the wall as quickly as possible before we get a chance to kill his son, since he obviously doesn't give a shit about us. The spit-ball rumor mongering seems like an attempt to cast doubt on any statements we might make.
Regardless, two assassination attempts in two months have basically shown he's "not up to the demands of the position and will need step down". More drastic measures need to be taken in some form but he apparently has a decent public reputation.
Maybe we issue some decree that Atlas is to be killed if we die lol.
Also, need to find out why our guards were being morons.
1. The former of a plot is not necessarily the person organizing a final attempt. The mechanics of plots and plot activation are a bit arcane in that basically anyone in the plot can initiate an attempt, and they make limited use of each other's intrigue (information networks) to do so. The clandestine way a plot works also means that individual members can end up not being aware of the final attack until after the fact, as they only provide their knowledge of the target to the whole, rather than actively seeking the character's demise.
-This is information Megara knows from her own understanding of how a plot works-
2. The rate of assassination attempts, without any appreciable progress in determining the attacker, is indeed good reason to force Ciskophis to step down.
3. The example segment with Pantakon, where he points out that the night captain was bribed, is canon fact.
