Architects of the Great Plan - Warhammer Fantasy Old One Quest

[X][URS] Accept
-[X] send a Delegation of Axolotls and Varanus with the bears, if only to have news on their development.

Because Ursun is really the only reason I voted for them.
So are the Warbolg's going to be educated on the Moon by Ursun or are we outright dropping them onto the world so he can take care of them?
Probably dump onto the world. It closer to Ursan territory and i doubt the old ones would want him to stay any longer on THEIR moon especially since he only barely avoided getting kicked out of the meeting.

The key ingredient however was what they weren't given: nigh immortality.

They would grow frail with age, dying after two and a half centuries, perhaps three if they pushed their bodies to its limits with the aid of magic. That finite lifespan was the secret that'd drive the goliaths to achieve greatness unmatched by any other creation. Their lives, however long they might seem, would end. Their bodies will fail like any other beast, yet with their gifts of mind and body they will be compelled to make their mark upon the world. The fear of death would motivate them, even the lowest of servants to the highest of sages had to find meaning within their lives.

It was such a beautifully cruel gift to bestow upon a species.
I'm really feeling Númenóreans vibe.

There's also another reason the Chairman feels drawn to these creatures, he feels as though there is a touch of divine inspiration involved. Something is keenly curious in the wolves. That is all he can say.

Much like the Fenrir, the Chairman feels the touch of the divine in their design. There is a primordial spirit on the Fated World that wants bear cubs of its own.

Like. This was explicitly one of the reasons Tlazcotl brought the Fenrir and Warbolgs to the table. It's one of the primary reasons I voted for Warbolgs. Ig some people missed that, which is fair enough, but like, this isn't coming out of nowhere. We had ample fore-warning, especially since we knew that there were primordial gods present already; Mathlann, the Elven Gods. And I feel like Minthra probably existed in one form or another before being empowered & defined by the Luminaries.

As a thought for the future, what if we made the Rats some sort of friend? A gift for one of our more... challenged creations. Some sort of Domestic beast for them, enhanced with our knowledge. Perhaps a species of Crow with the ability to see and use magic?

The gift of magic, a soul beyond compare, was married with abilities that'd make the full use of their gift without squandering them on pointless pursuits. Their minds and souls subtly shifted to be more flexible than their peers, allowing more divergent futures to open up before them, while their reproduction cycle was increased so that every new generation would be larger than the last. The key ingredient however was what they weren't given: nigh immortality.

In them he saw the future of the Fated World, held in the palm of their hands. It was clear that no matter what the future brought, it was the goliaths that would play a pivotal role in it. Much like the elves, destiny was written into their very DNA. History would be shaped by their hands, that Tlazcotl was sure of.
… so the only downside to the Rise and Reign plan the Chairman would say is that the species can't wield magic? Tlazcotl wants mass-produced supersoldiers who can also sling magic?

RIP my nascent Ursun the Pooh plan, you will be missed. Though

[JK][URS] Accept on the condition that he brings in other Primordial Gods to form a Pantheon, like a Pig, a Rabbit, a Donkey, a Kangaroo or two, an Owl... a Tiger...

Now I want to give the Warbolgs pink elephants as beasts...

The goliaths did not need near everlasting life or the ability to speak with the beasts of the world on an intuitive level. The elves were fine, but their slow life cycle gave them limited numbers, which they fittered away with song and dance or petty schemes against rivals for meaningless titles. Such useless gifts squandered by ungrateful children.
If the moths were the disappointing elder child, and the elves a promising middle child who failed to live up to expectations,
Wow, now even the elves are considered unsuccessful. Only the Old Ones.

Ursun argued that he had been a fair and kind neighbour to them. Had he not held his tongue when they unfroze the world and pushed back his primordial borders to the far north? He respected their strength like one would a fellow predator, but he would remain unbowed by their threats. He insisted that he be in attendance, if not to speak then to observe.
The balls on this planetary god. I like him.

I like this guy. And this gives us more room for the Old Ones to be eventually disappointed by their new this-time-it's-totally-perfect guys creation.
Lmao they really do be like that.

@Fission Battery is the write-in sending some varanus & axolotls to observe valid?

Clearly our next creation has to be Frog (Slann dni). Based on the Old Ones as much as possible. Gifted Spellcasters and Long Lived for sure. That's it as far as I can tell, along with whatever their inherent trait would be; throw stones, those in glass houses should not. I hope if any Old Ones survive the Coming of Possibly Chaos or Maybe 40k Orks, they have Yoda-style revelations.

What's really ironic is that the Old Ones originally hated that the Skaven were short lived compared to all the other races they had made beforehand. I'd like to imagine that at first while they thought that the Skaven's life spam made them a disappointing race looking at how much they were accomplishing compared to the longer lived races may have made them realize that having a short life span would actually be beneficial in that it forces races to get things done a lot more quicker compared to long lived races like the Elves.
Their minds and souls subtly shifted to be more flexible than their peers, allowing more divergent futures to open up before them
So we now have confirmation that Adaptable as a trait makes races more mentally flexible as well.

Honestly though Ulric is probably the easiest one to dump a species on.
Pretty much the only thing the Fenrir lack that Ulric would like is megic resistance.

Dude hates magic... to the point the Church of Sigmar was notably less hateful of em.

just realized saurus are cold blooded, maybe send Varanus' instead, they should be growing as they age and act as living waystones, so lets draw any unused magic into the geomantic web up north.
We should really make a dedicated cold climate combat species, preferably one a diety hasn't already got an association with.

...I actually wanna suggest Minks they're built for nothing but killing anyway.
Interesting. So Ursun already exists.
The divine seem to be a mix of pre-existing and formed from worship.... ie the diety associated with the Wind of Light for instance is probably the later while the likes or Ursun here are the former.

Jury's out on some of the other world dietes like Mannan, Taal, some other third one who might just be the elf ones under a different name.

Maybe we should make a living tree species next, dump them in Athel Loren to see what happens, test putting an adapted species with one naturally predisposed to the unique metaphysical environment.

See if Athel Loren reacts in response.
They kind of already have that.... Treemen and Dryads apparently pre-date the old ones in lore so any actual tree species would probably be more competition than anything else.

Or an equine predisposed to living in water and put in the rivers of Bretonnia, see about provoking a similar reaction.
The Unicorn Knights from Odins Sphere come to mind.

Well its not out and out Slann but I actually did have an idea along those lines.

[ ] Plan: Desert Mage Frogs
-[ ][BAS] Write in: Desert Rain Frog
-[ ][SER] Non-Servant
-[ ][TRA] Warm Adapted: This species is well suited to living in warmer, hot environments. It'd freeze to death in cold environments without precautions.
-[ ][TRA] Short: Less than five feet tall they'll be creatures of diminutive stature. Incompatible with Large, Huge, and Gigantic.
-[ ][TRA] Gifted Spellcasters: Nearly every individual is capable of spellcasting to some degree with little to no training and can easily sense the flow of magic, while being able to safely use multiple winds of magic at once. It also makes them very resistant to mutations and other harmful effects of magic. Extends lifespan.
-[ ][TRA] Hardy: A robust metabolism and immune system that makes them resistant to poison and diseases. Their diet will be widened, capable of eating a variety of foods others might consider inedible, and improve their body's rate of healing to recover from injuries easily. Extends lifespan.
-[ ][TRA] Long Life: Extends their lifespan by centuries, easily living for hundreds of years before they feel the effects of aging. They are practically immune to all aging related diseases until the very end. Death will still come to them all the same.
-[ ] Name: Slaarg
-[ ] Physical Description: Small and stubby in nature these humanoid desert dwelling frogs are perfect adapt in the course and rough sands they call their home.
-[ ] Location: Desert of Zlatlan

Warm Adapted is present because theirs no way a freaking desert rain frog is going to have aquatic while short is meant to make sure they have more reason to stick with one another... these guys are actually kind of intended to take up part of the OG idea the turtles were supposed to while at the same time not taking up huge amounts of resources.

Finally.

They have the most fierce war cry.

@Fission Battery wouldn't focusing on Goliath education make it possible for 2 minority cultures? I mean , they are Prolific so it is natural for them to be diverse just by sheer numbers + in other votes it was 2 minority cultures (with elves and skavens , for ex)
