Looks impressive! I wouldn't know where to start for reverse engineering a game like that.

So. I didn't looked closely since I don't own game and it just dropped so like zero info online, but in Ex Astris people apparently have Wave and Particle state and can switch between them (including human MC, not just locals). Like I'm already expecting Ar Tonelico crossovers both straight and with Ex Astris as medium to "normalize" Ar Tonelico wave people (and universe) with usual particle people (and universes).

EDIT:
...

Or I would've expected if not games being old and non-mainstream. *SIGH*

EDIT2:
And it's not like anybody cared anyway... heh.

EDIT3: EDIT2 is about crossover physics which most fanfiction authors do not care.

Buddy, you posted the message and presumably edited twice within 30 minutes. At least wait a few days before deciding nobody here cares.

As for Ex Astris, I haven't even heard of the title until now.

A mobile game similar to gacha, but you're buying the base game and story chapters as they release, I think? The trailer looks impressive, and I like the character designs. Seems to be an rpg as well? Details are sparse outside their YouTube channel.

In other news, I might have convinced my cousin to give Ar Tonelico 1 a shot. Was talking about games with her recently and mentioned the AT series, showing off a few music tracks, and she liked the conlang lyrics and story element. I'm gonna have her round when her schedule allows and we'll play the first game via emulator, to give her an impression.

That part was about crossover physics actually. Which in generally people don't care about while I do. So for me it's important news. For most fanfiction writers? Not so much.

There are some let's plays. I'm watching KyostinV one right now. That's where I got this tidbit about different states characters can be in.

And for some news, we've finished translating and implementing the voicemails into our Ciel nosurge Offline patch. I'll start a full run of the game to check everything is working properly tomorrow.

For a small update: the alpha test is finished for Ciel nosurge Offline, and we're conducting a beta now to catch all issues that weren't detected in the alpha.

I also took last week to code this using the game's event system and markup language:

If things keep going like this, it's a sure thing we'll be able to put out the patch for public release before the year's end, hopefully before the game's 10th anniversary as well.

The beta for the patch continues, and the time for its release is steadily coming closer.

Based on the feedback from the testers, we've also added notifications for the majority of cases when a voicemail is unlocked in-game, with their wording being based on the emails that Gust used to send the players for this purpose back when the Console on their site was still operational. We've also fixed a minor graphics bug that caused the menu texts in Ion's room to become temporarily garbled under certain conditions, and changed the Sharl reset time to be 4 AM at the player's local time instead of being set to 4 AM JST.

Why 4am vs midnight? That seems an odd time period for both the original and translated game version.

Glad to hear progress is continuing forwards, aquagon. I'm looking forward to playing this when it releases. How would you say the ps3 sequel fares, as official translations go?

In my experience it's pretty normal for games with daily resets to do so well after midnight.

It's like Baughn and Einsig said.

As for Ar nosurge's translation, I'd summarize it as good in dialog, but a mess in everything else.

The game is so weird, I frankly wouldn't know what's a mistranslation or not. But I do appreciate seeing more of Nei, Nay and Casty.

Sarly's fun too.

So at any rate, I just started to (re)watch Ciel nosurge. I don't have a PSVita... well, perhaps I'll get one some day. But I had a random thought, and I'm just going to throw it out there. I think it's a nice thought, considering how Ar nosurge ends. Which is to say...

Is it possible that player one—that is, the person whose role you take—could actually be Aya Yuuki?

Given that, after getting back to Earth, she spends years working to be reunited with the player, it would be rather odd that Aya didn't say anything if that were the case.

No, I think it's more like DDLC, where, rather than playing as someone else, the player is the person Nei is trying to reach.

There are multiple possible 'Player 1's, depending on questions such as whether or not you imported a Cns savegame... In my mind it's fair to think it could be Aya in some timelines, but not all of them.

Aya wouldn't want to drag her home in the first place, I don't think. Or, well. She'd want to, but she'd never say it.

But she's in a pretty good position to figure out a way to reach her. She has whatever shrapnel was left from Nei's kidnapping, and I really can't imagine Nei Yuuki's little sister being any less of a genius. Not to mention that we're more or less shown that she's also really smart; she just didn't take the same path through life.

I don't know. It may be wishful thinking. I just really don't want to think about what Aya's life is like, in those timelines where Nei never goes home.

I'm no expert on the mechanics and don't remember the ending of Ar Nosurge super well, but I would think that the process of obtaining a spell to send Nei back to the correct world would be far simpler if Aya was 'Player 1'. You've already got the correct 'coordinates' to aim at.

Easier, yes. Easy, no. You might very well need a moon-sized receiver system on the other end; there's no guarantee that it's any easier in that direction. And then you need a way to recreate her body, when it's Ra Ciela that has all the super-advanced biotech.

Exa Pico was able to do it, but just because someone like Sana could do it doesn't mean a random fourteen-year-old could, no matter how smart. I feel like simply getting in contact at all is already enough to ask of her.

Well, my not so great idea was Nei and Player 1 finally end up in the same place, then they talk about well, everything, then it comes up that player 1 asks that what would Nei do if she could see the others again, And then Player 1 pulls out a copy of AT 1 and then the few plot directions i could think of could happen?
Nei just critiques it and it's written as reaction, Somehow Nei can still overseer and AT 1 starts going off the rails..., Torturing Nei via going back into EXA_PICO.....

Okay, we've announced the estimated date of release for the patch just now.

I've also taken the liberty of updating the project's post at the A Reyvateil's Melody forums with the list of changes we made to the game, and a large update to the screenshots we've taken from the patch's current state.

Between October and November as the release date, eh? I'm looking forward to it.

Bad news, everyone:

We had a lot of complications and trouble after the initial announcement we made at the start of September, so the release date for the patch is postponed until we can complete the final tests.
