You live in a world that is soon to be ruled by men and gods... what does a dragon like you do in all this chaos and upheaval?
A beginning...
Welcome questers. The name's Waterflames3, but you can refer to me as Water for short. Today, I'm gonna be doing a quest with a premise that actually interested me, that being an Overlord Quest. Not the game (unfortunately), but the anime. This is my first quest, so I do apologize for any mistakes that I make in advance.

Now before you all riot and try to put me on a cross, you're not taking control of any known character, or somebody from Yggdrasil… You're an inhabitant of the New World, and not just any inhabitant, but a dragon… I think a few of you are starting to pick up what I'm putting down. You're controlling a dragon born 300 years before the arrival of the Six Gods and most of you know that the Eight Greed Kings come just a hundred years after the Six Gods' arrival.

You can see where this is going. I will try to answer questions to the best of my ability, so don't be afraid to ask.

Most importantly, good luck, and make sure to have fun.

Now let the quest begin…

– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

Your mind flits to consciousness after hours of hazy thoughts and darkness. You can't focus, not in this environment. You take a moment and realize that you're trapped inside of something, filled with what seems to be… liquid?

You start struggling and trying to break free from your prison, and then you hear a crack, then another, and another. After a moment more of struggling, you see light peaking through a crack, and you reach for it with your little arms and finally break out.

You've been born.

And so your story as a dragon, raging against its fate begins. I'll be providing some choices for you regarding where you start, as well as your stats, though I will try my hardest to keep things simple for everybody's sake.

Now, for stats, I'm gonna keep this
real simple. Nobody wants to do math and neither do I, so here we go.

Physical: Here's your physical stat. This includes things like strength, speed, dexterity, endurance, and vitality. All that is under this stat, so whenever we roll for a punch, this stat comes into play.

Mental: This is the mind or mental stat. All rolls relating to the mind are rolled with this stat in consideration. Intelligence, will, creativity, and so on are part of this stat.

Spiritual: This is purely the magic stat, but it also plays a part in allowing somebody to
resist magic and magical items. A high spiritual stat would allow you to cast greater spells, and resist more items. This resistance to magical items isn't all-encompassing. If you get stabbed by a poisoned dagger who's edge constantly produces poison, you will still be poisoned. The magic needs to directly affect you for the resistance to play a part.

Now that's all the stats. I would explain more but I think it's better to take things step by step.

Pick your name, your gender, and maybe your element if you feel like it.

Name: []
Gender: []
Element: []

(PS: If anybody could explain how this quest shit works, that would be very much appreciated.)

Now that my quest has been approved, I will begin the 48-hour Moratorium, which started 12 hours ago... welp, the rest of you got 36 hours and 10 minutes, so hop to it.

Edit: On second thought... a moratorium would not be reasonable. I'll save those for later. For now, any vote counts for however long it takes me to post the next voting section.

Character Creation/Starting Area
Now that you've made your choices, I think it's about time we get started on the other choices for Nidyg. These choices will involve the starting situation of your character, which could range from being related to an extremely powerful dragon to being born in the middle of nowhere on a mountain, with nobody in sight. It will also involve any unique traits that Nidyg may gain. These traits include a propensity for Martial Arts, an interesting Talent, or even access to Wild Magic. This will all be governed by the amount of starting points you spend on these choices.

Now, let's get started with the choices…

Origin:
This relates to Nidyg's starting location, equipment, and any other unique opportunities that might be involved.

These are the options…

Desolation: [] (+3 starting points)

As you break out of your egg, you find the lands around you to be nothing but… barren deserts. You see no life and no other creatures roaming about. Just you… and this silent Desolation.
You are born in a far corner of the world, with nothing in sight but barren deserts. Your life will be a struggle without equal and you will suffer immensely. Starvation and thirst will be your birthright, and your grave, the sands. The shadow of death looms large…

Tyrant's Gaze: [] (+2 starting points)

As you break free of your egg, you find yourself to be within the depths of a cave, hidden away in the very back. After a moment of silence, you hear the roars of countless creatures, and the loudest of all these roars would be the roar of a fellow dragon.
You have been born within the territory of a mighty dragon, old and terrifying. His gaze looms over his lands, with his army of beast-men and all other manner of demihuman patrolling the territory, in search of invaders. You are one such invader. The master of these lands won't tolerate another of his kin infringing upon it and will crush any opposition. But… perhaps there are opportunities to be found in this oppressed land…

In The Dark: [] (+1 starting point)

As you break out of your egg, you are assaulted by the noises of countless creatures, ranging from frogs, birds, and insects. Life is vibrant, and the trees grow into the sky, with the canopy blotting out much of the sunlight. Welcome to the jungle, hope you survive the ride.
You have been born within the depths of the great jungle of Verdigotha, a place filled with magical creatures, ancient horrors, and life unending. You will be surrounded by creatures who hunger for your flesh, who see you as nothing but another meal. Life will be hard, but it will not be impossible. Play your cards right, struggle, and you may survive.

Humble beginning: []

As you shatter the shell of your egg, you find yourself in a verdant forest, filled with trees, shrubbery, and all other manner of plant life. The forest's silence is broken by the chirping of birds, the chittering of insects, and the occasional, very distant, snarling.
You have been born within the depths of a forest, unclaimed by any dragon, and filled with great amounts of prey. But it is best for you to remain cautious, for even this forest holds predators who may threaten you… This is, as the name implies, a humble beginning.

Descendant: [] (-1 starting point)

As you break free of your shell, you find yourself in what seems to be a nest, filled with eggs that look similar to your own. You look around for a moment, noticing yourself to be in a cave filled with treasure before a rumbling voice grabs your attention…
You've been born as the child of what might be draconic nobility, one who possesses a territory, however small that territory might be. You will have a helping hand to teach you all that you need to know as a dragon and somebody to care for you in your starting years. Do remember that, one day, you will have to leave the nest to find your own path…

The Grace of Kings: [] (-3 starting points)

As you break free of your egg, you find yourself in an ornate palace, surrounded by all manner of beings, but one creature draws your gaze. A dragon that bears resemblance to you, surrounded by wealth and treasure uncountable. This was a monarch, and their blood flowed through your veins…
You have been born as the child of a Dragon Lord, a king of the New World. These lords flew through the heavens and were hailed as invincible god-kings, for they wielded magic of the soul, Wild Magic. You will grow to be a mighty and old dragon, revered due to the blood that flows in your veins as well as the might that you will grow to one day wield…

Emperor's Blood: [] (-5 starting points)

A blessing… or perhaps a curse?
You will be born as one of the sons of the Dragon Emperor. Take that as you will.

Well… now that we have that finished with, I think it's about time we get to the starting perks. These perks can only be gained in this starting menu. You can gain lesser versions of these perks, but they will never match the perks gained here and now.

There are also flaws that you can take to gain more starting points, so have fun with that.

Silence of the Soul: [] (+3 starting points)

You are locked out of Magic… permanently. (WARNING: You are explicitly shooting yourself in the foot by picking this flaw. You are making things significantly harder by choosing this. You. Have. Been. Warned)

Frail Wings: [] (+1 starting point)
Your wings are weak, and you struggle to even glide with them.

Dull Edges: [] (+1 starting point)
Your teeth and claws are not as sharp as your fellow dragon

Weak Scales: [] (+1 starting point)
Your scales aren't as tough as your kindred.

Failing Sight: [] (+1 starting point)
Your eyes struggle at times to perceive certain things.

Bad Breath: [] (+1 starting point)
Your breath attack lacks the usual oomph of other dragons.

Now we move on to the perks.

Sky's Gift: [] (-1 starting point, cannot be taken with Frail Wings)

Your wings, a hurricane.

Sharpest Ends: [] (-1 starting point, cannot be taken with Dull Edges)
Your teeth, swords. Your claws, spears.

Scales of Steel: [] (-1 starting point, cannot be taken with Weak Scales)
Your scales, steel.

Hunter's Sight: [] (-1 starting point, cannot be taken with Failing Sight)
Your eyes are that of a hunter. None escape your unwavering gaze.

All-Consuming Breath: [] (-1 starting point, cannot be taken with Bad Breath)
Your elemental breath consumes all before it. Few will be able to withstand your wrath.

Martial Mastery: [] (-2 starting points)
Martial Arts have always called out to you. You learn and create Martial Arts with much greater ease.

Unique Talent. [] (-2 starting points)
You are born with an interesting and powerful talent. (Suggest what the talent could be if you pick this.)

Song of the Soul: [] (-3 starting points, cannot be taken with Silence of the Soul)
You are deeply connected with your soul and you possess great potential with magic.

Ars Magica: [] (-5 starting points, cannot be taken with Song of the Soul, or Silence of the Soul)
Magic heeds your call. You are one with sorcery, and sorcery is one with you.

Abyss of Magic: [] (-10 starting points, cannot be taken with Silence of the Soul, Song of the Soul, or Ars Magica.)
You are the abyss. No magic lies out of reach.

Now that all the available choices have been shown, I think it's time I allow you to start voting.

You have 10 starting points and always remember I am here and available to answer any questions you might have regarding the perks, how things are going to work, and similar such questions. We're all here to have fun after all.

Good luck, everybody. I'm interested in seeing which choices will prevail.

Hows that for Plan? Do you need more text on Talents or do you get my intent with them with their names and our element being Gold while also picking up ma magic talent/potential? Abyss of Magic will let us use Wild Magic/Runes and Tier Magic later?

This is a good plan, but I do need some clarification for the Unique Talents. So, to simply explain what's going on, Song of the Soul would've allowed access to Wild Magic, and you would've been good at it. Ars Magica means you could access Wild Magic much earlier than usual and would've had it at a much greater capacity. Abyss of Magic means you have access to Wild Magic from birth, so I don't think I need to say how good you'll be at it. You will also be able to eventually wield Tier Magic as well, but it would take some time, same with Runes.

This is a good plan, but I do need some clarification for the Unique Talents.
Child of Forge is fancy name for a Crafting Talent that let us brake limit on how good we can get at Crafting. It doesn't makes us better on its own but we can get realy good at any Crafting like Skill we try. Portion Brewing, Blacksmithing, Magic Item Creation, freaking architecture or painting/sculping.

Scholars Mind is boost to learning/research speed. We are basicaly a genius that learn/figure out stuff fast. Stuff like using magic or crafting skills.

At least that how I would see it but if you think this is to weak or to strong for 2 points Talents then change them as long it keeps the theme of MC being Dragon born with Weak body but a genius with enormus talent at magic/Creation that he uses to suplement his Weak body.

The Archmage build.

-[X] Unique Talent. -2 [Digger: You're just really good at digging in the Earth. Which doesn't make sense for a winged being]
-[X] Unique Talent. -2 [Geologist: You institual know a lot about rocks. Better hope nobody threatens you with an obsidian knife, or you'll be too distracted by the shine of polished stone too save yourself]
-[X] Unique Talent. -2 [Echolocation: Have really good hearing as a sonar sense]

Just making a Dragon can chill out in the wasteland, and not starve in the Mojave outskirst.

[X] Plan: Dragon creates his cult in another world of light novel

-[X]Unique Talent (-2*6 starting points)
[Sweet Blood: You don't know why, but the taste of your blood is mentally addictive. In childhood it is terrible, in the future it is something that will allow us to subjugate kings.]
[Big problem: You really are bigger than other dragons]
[Good reflexes: You're surprisingly agile for your size]
[Mortal Intuition: For some reason, it is much easier for you to track the facial expressions of different races and understand the ulterior motives of their actions]
[Predisposition to cunning plans: You are able to play your enemies against each other, and when this does not work out, still benefit]
[Unique memory: You know exactly how much gold you have, how many servants you have, and in which specific village the bastard of the local duke is located]

(10+1+3+1)-(2*6+1+1+1) =0

Probably right

I'm reading the plans rn, and they're fucking WILD. I'm loving it so far. However, I am a little curious, Why so many talents? These many specific abilities would take serious time and investment to ensure they work. Not to mention, you're still under threat of having to deal with the Players, eventually.

This plan is gold, everyone expect dragon to use magic, but not this one.

Who the fuck fucked up?

These talents provide a very specific gameplay where we ourselves fight enemies only in the most extreme cases, which increases the risks and excitement of each fight.

In my mind, all the time until the arrival of the players, we will be busy creating a secret organization, or even several, that will supply us with interesting resources. We, in turn, can use these resources to upgrade our minions.

What difference does it make that you don't know how to use magic if you raised a group of archmages over several centuries?

Mortal intuition allows you (the Author) to write about the hidden emotions of the humanoid creatures you meet, which will give us (the players) more information to make decisions. Will reveal some secrets.

The unique memory justifies the introduction of statistics to the quest and you (the Author) can remind the players of some details. Something along the lines of "You are on your guard because you remember that there were fewer leaves on that hill. Damn! Balista, there is a disguised balista on the hill."

I like the plan. How do you intend to deal with the struggle of not being able to make use of any mages until 300 years from now? Not to mention that even given several centuries to grow, I'm unsure if any mages would actually be worth anything. Doing some number crunching, The best you can hope to get in the timeframe that you have might be, at most, mages who could cast 8th or 9th-tier magic...

Ignorance and poor knowledge of the setting saves me from these questions))

My answer is somehow, something, maybe it will work out, probably.;)
