Anime Rival Quest (Very Meta)

[X] Casually step back and activate your already prepared Trap Magic.

I really think this would fit our traits best, and as veekie said, if it uses tolerance, well, we do have a bit of it still

[X]Fire your blaster at the ground to kick up dust, blocking her vision and use the recoil to evade.

Changing vote as well. This seems like the better option compared to kneecapping.

Just out of curiosity @Spectral Waltz does Tolerance get affected by how smug or dickish we do things. If say we act like Bakugou from MHA does that affect our the Audiences tolerance to us?

It could, but it's not likely to happen from any of the premade options on a post. Write ins will be the only things that can lose you tolerance is my loose rule for now. May change in the future, and if it does, I'll let you know.

This would use tolerance, since you are basically inventing a second trap on the fly where one didn't exist before.

It does play to your current traits though, is also mostly plausible to say that you tossed two traps instead of one when you first cast them, so only one tolerance.

Yes... first we begin with The Reason You Suck Speech. Next... psychoanalyse her... prod more into this mind of hers... that dark past must be unearthed!

Until her anger reaches its limits...

Then we shall see her power... unskilled but definitely plentiful. Useful to know for the future.

Would the dust trick use tolerance? Also does shooting kneecaps affect how the audience views us?

I'm confident that the Kneecaps option would cost us Tolerance. Dark as some Magical Girl genre anime could get, we're still the Unknown Rival. Unknown we may be, but we're still the Rival. We're here to out-perform the Main Character, or act as a foil that enhances both Main Rival and Main Character throughout the series.

Shooting the Kneecaps just to prove a point, and not to mention handicapping the Main Character, well, that makes us more of a Nemesis than anything else really. At least from my perspective.

Edit:

Also really, if we were gonna shoot her in the kneecaps, we should have just gone and done it from the start instead of trying to be smug about it. That screams Fake-Smug and Insecurity to me, and I don't want our in-quest audience thinking the same.

Yeah I agree, I dont think said dust-trick should work. But maybe I'm underestimating the amazing magic we will put into this shot *insert sarcasm*.

Just keep in mind you normally need a bomb to throw up enough dust to obscure vision...

I mean we are using blaster that probably doesn't fire normal bullets. Im pretty sure this blaster has enough power to make dust rise when a anime characters sword can cause explosions.

Let our rival have the brawn. We have the brains.
EDIT: Nah, I changed my mind.

On an unrelated note; it might sound corny, but I want to establish a hi/bye gesture with our rival whenever we meet her (both intentionally or coincidentally). Something that'd look smug and condescending at first, but eventually becomes so commonplace that our rival would feel left out whenever it doesn't happen. Maybe a quick headpat or nose poke? It might get the shippers raring and the fanart spawned from it would be adorable.

We could even use it as a way to convey secret messages that no-one would know (especially the BBEG), or at least notify her that something's wrong.

...am I thinking too deeply into this?

To the first, No. To the second, very yes. This is not exactly the sunniest show, but that would be upping the ante brutality-wise.

It's not a 'Gun', it's a 'Blaster'.

You can almost certainly figure out a way to throw up some dust with it.

Not in the slightest, I welcome this sort of forethought. Metashenanigans and playing with the concept of self aware anime characters are almost entirely the point of this quest.

So go ahead. Please. Do the thing.

EDIT: Oh right, votes will be closing in 3.5 Hours.
