Anime Rival Quest (Very Meta)

[X]Fire your blaster at the ground to kick up dust, blocking her vision and use the recoil to evade.

I just realize the sheer animosity we are causing her will instantly be viewed as potential romance by shippers. Smug seems to pay off alot

[X]Fire your blaster at the ground to kick up dust, blocking her vision and use the recoil to evade.

of note, she was the one to launch the first blow, because of an insult, yes, but she still striked first, that should give us enough room with the audience for stuff later on.

this is a mildly cool and yet simple solution, stops her from targeting us on account of no longer knowing our position, which, notably, isn't something that just getting more power fixes (at least not without getting so much more power that it breaks suspension of disbelief).

she tecnically already has more raw magical power than us, so us winning anyway through cunning tactics should lend more credence to our words (and be adored by the audience) even if it really stings for her to hear them, it will also hopefully drive home to the audience that she won't really get anywhere if she insists on just berserking around, making it more likely that that particular tactic of hers will fail again in the future, for the audience will be able to expect it, at least until she resolves her situation

[X] Casually step back and activate your already prepared Trap Magic.

Because we wouldn't be so audacious, so smug, if we weren't ever prepared for this kind of eventuality. Not to mention it plays up our smug level. To a stretch, it plays to our Analyst trait and I wanna have our guy be the type to prepare for doing shit like this.

Also our Heroine needs to learn how to succeed in Perception checks because helping our Heroine grow is what a good and proper Rival does.

Oooo double trap good chestmaster idea i mostly went with the recoil dodge since. Well gives us the ability to use recoil for maneuvers such as firing at the ground to slow our descent and using it as jump boost.

Also to those voting for the trap I'm pretty sure it was already used here:
She lunges at you with a scream, sword coalescing out of thin air into her hands, but she is barely three steps into her charge before your trap activates. If you were a straight up villain you could have probably gone for some binding ropes of light or something with all the distressing implications those entail but you're a rival, you're supposed to have class, so your trap is a good old fashioned paralysis field.

You have to think meta, alright? It costs Tolerance to cheat a second trap into existence, but it can be done because from the audience's perspective, they don't know that we only set one trap.

I do like the idea, for being as smug as possible, but it's time to move past the monologue stage for some action.

-[X] Set another trap, to lure her into later.

I feel like our smug and superior approach is being diminished somewhat by confronting a heroine after a fight so that she tires herself out before the showdown.

Out of curiosity if we had chosen the strength and defence traits in the beginning would we have been able to simply block the attack?

Also I'd probably missed this all ready but does everyone know their on a show or is it only the rival?

Just out of curiosity @Spectral Waltz does Tolerance get affected by how smug or dickish we do things. If say we act like Bakugou from MHA does that affect our the Audiences tolerance to us?
