This doesn't exist though. If someones missing, any law enforcement official or similar will tell you to report it immediatly. The 24hr thing is an invention of the media.

It isn't wrong for her to come to that conclusion though. The police will take time to actually start putting clues together and contacting people who might now the missing person, so if they take more than a day to bother Taylor about it, her coming to the conclusion that it took them that long because popular media tells her it takes that long isn't the wrong way for her to think.
