All Things BATTLETECH!

Yet more remote-controlled drone fighters. I figured, we already had the Boomerang, so why not go further with some UAVs that have more serious battlefield surveillance equipment beyond just a basic recon camera?

AU. The Taurian Concordat's Aerospace Arm had long been considered the weakest of the TDF's three combat branches; despite low turnover and actively seeking to modernize with the assistance of advisors from the Outworlds Alliance, the lack of equipment and trained personnel remained a perennial issue. The former could be partially addressed by buying more fighters off of the open market, but they were useless without pilots to fly them. With a projected outlay of decades at a minimum before ongoing efforts to increase recruitment and reduce training washout rates would start bearing fruit, the Taurians turned to a technological solution as a short-term stopgap. In collaboration with their longtime rival Pinard-Dicolais Electronics, who were already major suppliers to the aerospace-focused Wingman Enterprises Limited, O-P Computer Electronics succeeded in creating a crude aerospace smart robotic control system. Although less sophistocated than military-grade LosTech Star League era equivalents, even those used aboard the obsolete BlackWasp robotic drone interceptor, and limited to simple and predictable command logic decision-trees, the Taurian smart robotic control system represented a considerable accomplishment in military automation at the time given the thoroughness of Kerensky's purge of anything even remotely related to the Hegemony's SDS network just before the outbreak of the Succession Wars.

The first aerospace fighter to be fitted with a smart robotic control system on was the Seydlitz, domestically produced under license by Taurus Territorial Industries. Long desparaged by pilots as a 'flying coffin', the poorly-armored light fighter seemed a natural choice for unmanned conversion. As a drone, the Seydlitz could engage in high-risk "swarm" tactics that would otherwise be considred inadvisable to attempt, and the TDF's limited and valuable human pilots could be reassigned to heavier, more survivable fighters. To make room for the new electronics, all of the direct physical controls and life support elements meant to accomodate a human pilot were removed from the cockpit as superflous and redundant. After all, a computer does not need to breathe; it just needs to stay within operating temperature, which was accomplished readily by tying the smart robotic control sytsem directly into the fighter's heat sink coolant loop.

As a follow-up, the Sabre produced by Pinard Protectorates Limited recieved a similar treatment, although the conversion necessitated the downgrade of the nose-mounted medium laser to a small. Still, this was considered an acceptable tradeoff for the logistical capability to field a greater number of fighters overall. In an ironic twist, ISF agents operating out of the Sabre plant on Organo would smuggle plans for the drone conversion out of the Concordat back to the Combine as part of the last gasp of the so-called "Raimei Ring."

The MM-1 DragonFly is by no stretch of the imagination a good aerospace fighter design. Painfully slow, under-armored, under-sinked, and over-gunned, it was a product of the Canopian's institutional inexperience in the lead-up to the Reunification War. Still, if the Dragonfly has anything going for it, it's that it's cheap, and uses many common off-the-shelf components where the production of superior fighter designs would likely be bottlenecked (particularly the ubiquitous 120-rated fusion engine commonly used by countless BugMechs).

In this thought exercise, I attempted an autonomous drone conversion. Taking a cue from the MM-2, the nose-mounted medium laser was uprated to a large, while conversely the wing-mounted large lasers were downrated to smalls. Four additional heat sinks keep the fighter heat-neutral when alpha-striking (an important consideration with SRCS drones, which aren't intelligent enough to bracket-fire). A basic smart robotic control system and a small cockpit round out the package.

Design Quirks: Atmospheric Flight Instability, Poor Performance, Obsolete (2584), Ubiquitous (Engine)

Having watched the video, I disagree with Tex about almost every section of it.

Which is not to say that the Clan zellbringen system didn't limit their options and on many occasions lead to them giving battle in ways that were less than optimal, that they didn't badly underestimate their Inner Sphere adversaries, and that Clan internal politics wasn't a sack of scorpions that occasionally took breaks from stinging one another to sting the Sphere ( meaning no offense to Clan Goliath Scorpion).

But the video puts forward a notion of delusional Clanners locked in a system of formalized dueling that inevitably led to their downfall when they faced the pragmatic competent warfighters of the Great Houses, going so far as to state "The Clans believed war had rules. The Inner Sphere long ago discovered it has none." which is just not so.

Warfare in the Inner Sphere has a great many rules, you don't target Jumpships, HPGs and ComStar are off limits, nuclear, chemical and biological weapons are off the table, and a general trend towards not annihilating industrial facilities and civilian populations then salting the earth they stood. Rules put in place because the Houses had multiple Succession Wars where they did practice total industrial warfare and it ended badly for everyone involved, win lose or draw you can't do much with territory that has been rendered into a lifeless wasteland by WMDs, orbital bombardment, and the general obliteration of any asset that might possibly be of use to the opposing side.

And in the main those rules were held to even fighting the Clans, the closest thing to a First or Second Succession Wars campaign was Task Force Serpent on Huntress, and even that was carried out in a restrained manner compared to, for example, the Word of Blake deciding to remind everyone what total industrial war really looked like a few decades down the line.

And in general the trend of portraying the Clans as deluded fanatics clinging to their map as it collided catastrophically with the territory, unable to adapt or evolve, the whole invasion doomed before the first batchall was uttered in the Deep Periphery, brothers and sisters that's not how it was.

Out of universe, if the Clans are honor bound zealots who were always going to be crushed under the heel of the steely eyed logical and pragmatic Great Houses that knocks a lot of the luster off the actions of Kai Allard-Liao, Tyra Miraborg, Theodore Kurita and Jaime Wolf at Luthien or Anastius Focht at Tukkayid, it's no great feat to defeat fools and madmen.

But even if we confine ourselves solely to the in-universe, the one faction who had the closest thing to accurate information on the strengths and weaknesses of the Great Houses and the Clans during the invasion was ComStar. And ComStar thought the possibility of the Clans overwhelming the Houses once they started to bid more conservatively was real enough that they chose to gamble everything they had at Tukkayid, and by they I don't just mean Primus Myndo Waterly, who you can certainly argue wasn't the best at looking at data and drawing sensible conclusions, but Precentor Martial Focht as well, I think we can all agree he had fairly good judgement when it came to military matters, he decided the situation was dangerous enough to justify committing the ComGuard to the meat grinder at Tukkayid and it was a meat grinder, just tallying up the wins, losses and draws among the participating Clans doesn't tell the whole story, something close to half the ComGuard lost their lives in that campaign.

Hardly the sort of thing you jump into if the facts on the ground support "Doomed inflexible idiots sinking into the abyss with their honor codes an anchor around their neck while the competent and adaptable soldiers practicing combined arms total industrial war backed by overwhelming logistical superiority Fortnite Dance at them in mockery."

Except it is.

Like I'm not going to say Tex is fully correct, I don't think he is, but the Honor Road is a fundamental cause of the Clans being defeated. It's less about rules, though, and more about how it shaped Clan warmaking. Or rather, how it didn't, because the Clans don't make war. Though they style themselves as bred for war, though they call themselves warriors, the Clans fundamentally do not actually make war. What the Clans practice, train for, prepare for, and preach, is battle.

Every aspect of their society, from the harsh heat curves and minimalist ammunition loads of their 'Mechs to the perpetual resource deficit they run at on purpose, is designed to sustain short, sharp, decisive combat. They produce extremely destructive and fast but often underprotected, undersinked, and undersupplied 'Mechs that will not stand up to sustained combat. They have extremely selective training standards, many of which are more designed to fail people than to improve the quality of the result. They run at a perpetual resource deficit to justify many of their practices in regards to age and civilians, making it impossible to rapidly increase production in response to demand. They have no real junior leadership positions with Star Commanders and Star Captains barely being expected to maneuver their own unit as a unit; Star Colonel is the first level you might handle logistics, and any kind of operational or strategic understanding below the level of Galaxy Commander is rare, meaning that losses of senior officers are essentially irreplaceable and lead to serious breakdowns.

The Clans are not designed to sustain extended combat operations, much less true attritional warfare.

Precentor Martial Focht as well, I think we can all agree he had fairly good judgement when it came to military matters, he decided the situation was dangerous enough to justify committing the ComGuard to the meat grinder at Tukkayid and it was a meat grinder, just tallying up the wins, losses and draws among the participating Clans doesn't tell the whole story, something close to half the ComGuard lost their lives in that campaign.

This unintentionally illustrates the case. What you see on Tukkayid when you actually look closely at it, as advised, is that the Clans had very successful, destructive opening stages, but when the individual battles turned, the swing was hard. The ammunition runs out, the 'Mechs overheat, the supplies aren't there after a few days of heavy combat, and the Clans fall apart badly. Multiple Clans outright routed, damaged and depleted 'Mechs running for their DropShips and Amaris take the hindmost. Phelan Kell actually lays out in-universe how badly unprepared the Clans are for the attritional struggle the Clans are at the end of Lost Destiny. The same point is raised again several times during Operation Bulldog, on both sides, in Grave Covenant.

The Clans are not designed to sustain extended combat operations, much less true attritional warfare.

I don't disagree that the Clans culture is based around "Live fast, die young, leave a glorious Bloodname behind you" and that their strategic vision often starts and stops at "How do we force the big cool decisive battle where we honorably blast the enemy into tiny pieces" and that these are flaws.

What I question is if this made them so flawed that their defeat in the Invasion was inevitable and I do not think the facts bear that out. Certainly they weren't invincible, the Inner Sphere could bloody and defeat them when they were able to prepare the battlefield with every possible advantage (a la Wolcott) had a substantial numbers advantage and fought on the defensive (Luthien) or both (Tukkayid) but even those victories tended to come at fearful cost. (Not getting into Twycross because how much that came down to "We have the Falcon Guards!" "We have a Kai Allard-Liao.")

To my thinking, a much more important flaw was the Crusader/Warden divide and the games Ulric Kerensky played, deliberately bidding away Clan Wolf warships to shame his Crusader rivals into doing the same, activating reserve Clans and assigning them to the same invasion corridors as their hated rivals, how much of that was Warden Ulric undermining the Crusaders out of principle and how much of that was Wolf Khan Ulric screwing over his Jade Falcon and Smoke Jaguar enemies by being a crafty bastard, hard to say but he certainly wasn't pursuing any kind of "Unified Clan victory" agenda.

The same point is raised again several times during Operation Bulldog, on both sides, in Grave Covenant.

I'm hesitant to draw too many conclusions about the Clan system as a whole from the drubbing the Jaguars got from Bulldog, because of how much the Clan itself was a paper tiger by the time the Great Refusal got rolling, in many ways they never bounced back from the Invasion like the Wolves and Jade Falcons managed too (hence the ProtoMech project, desperately trying to rebuild the Jaguar Toumen on a shoestring budget because shoestrings were all they had left) and then of course poor Lincoln Osis had the Nova Cats defect wholesale while Vlad Ward and Marthe Pryde used his back as a knife block in the Clan Council.

Which ties into my personal opinion of the Clans fatal flaw and why the Invasion failed, not to downplay the strategic skills of the Great Houses and the Precentor Martial, the determination and bravery of those at the front, the heroism of individuals in the right place at the right time, and the odd moments when the cards fell one way and not another, but in addition to all that I'd say the fatal Clan flaw wasn't an adherence to zellbringen or a "Thinking slow need to get to site of the Trial and kill FAST" military culture, rather it was that at the end of the day ComStar and the Great Houses were the other firm, their fellow Clans were the opposition, that failure to unify and the Inner Sphere...mostly succeeding at the same (hello there Capellan Confederation) was what sent the whole enterprise crashing down in flames.

Overview
"Blue Rose", the Templar configuration used by Major Aislinn Harper, executive officer of the
Third Davion Irregulars.

Capabilities
Originally in the Primary configuration, heavy damage to the targeting computer and the difficulty
of obtaining a replacement necessitated modifications. The pulse lasers in the left arm are
replaced with a medium variable-speed pulse laser and a large re-engineered laser, an Angel ECM
suite fitted in the left torso bay, and an additional ton of Gauss ammo and CASE II around the
Gauss rifle's capacitor banks installed.

Overview:
A variant of Zeus developed by Defiance to deploy their new Heavy Gauss Rifle.
Initially intended solely as a technological testbed, it proved popular enough
to remain in production ever since.

Capabilities:
The entire left torso is taken up by the immense Heavy Gauss Rifle, fed by four
tons of ammunition in the centre and right torso bays. A large pulse laser
fitted with a range-enhancing x-pulse module is fitted in the left arm, and an
ER medium laser in the right torso. The Zeus -9T's right arm-mounted LRM15 is
retained.

Battle History:
The first examples to see combat served with Adam Steiner's Fourteenth Donegal
Guards against Clan Jade Falcon. Although unable to prevent Melissia's fall,
the two examples present, ably supported by a Salamander, two LRM carriers and
a Schiltron, ensured that the Falcons' pursuit of the Dawn Chargers was a
cautious one.

In the final acts of the tunnel-fighting in the Sydney Castle Brian, Leutnant
Israel Benfleet's lance of the Seventeenth Arcturan Guards was the closest unit
when a Level II of Celestials ambushed acting-Major Rebecca duChaine's command
lance of the First Federated Suns Lancers. The combination of Benfleet's heavy
Gauss rifle and the monstrous strength of a lancemate's Atlas let them tear
through blast doors in time to intervene; arriving on the scene just as the
last of duChaine's lancemates fell. Toppling an Archangel with the last of his
Gauss rounds, Benfleet pounded a Deva to pieces with laser fire and savage
blows from the reinforced missile launcher arm.

Deployment:
The majority of examples serve in the LCAF, with the bulk of the remainder
serving in various mercenary commands and the Republic Armed Forces. There are
rumours that the Davion Heavy Guards, Fourth Robinson Strikers and Seventh
Syrtis Fusiliers have recently taken delivery of lances of examples for test
purposes, but as yet that is unconfirmed.

Variants:
ZEU-9V2
Nicknamed the Fire Zeus, this limited production variant was a product of
difficulties with heavy Gauss rifle manufacture during the Jihad, rearmed for
general fire support with an array of standard weapons.

Trying to update some older units with *believable* upgrades.
With my experience watching defense contractors "polish stone cannonballs" just to rake just a little more money out of the DoD;
this upgrade is highly reasonable.

Overview
From the outside, other than a slightly larger flair to the engine shell, a normal Sparrowhawk-5H.
Reality: Faster, More Armor, More Firepower compared to the standard -5H.
Slightly more than double the price of a -5H; but hey: Royal Aerospace Fighter.

Capabilities
Star League Royal ASF piloted by the elite of the SLDF ASF corps.

Deployment
Manufactured as standard 5H models, then rebuilt in the Mars space docks, it is believed than slightly less than 200 were built.
Deployment was to Priority Royal ASF units.

History
Everything a 5H can do, only better.
Opponents rarely had time to be able to differentiate between standard and Royal Sparrowhawks.
Most were thought lost in the Battle for Terra.

Notes
ComStar's Terran System Defense Command has the only known squadron remaining in existence.
Those in the "know" claim of vast stockpiles of parts and at least 2 more squadrons in long term storage.

Overview:
A refit developed for older Atlases in Federated Suns service during the FCCW,
designed to exploit new technologies in improving the design.

Capabilities:
This refit comprehensively upgrades the weaponry. Designed for close quarters
engagements, particularly supporting Nightstars and Longbows, the missile
launchers are replaced with a pair of Streak SRM6 launchers fed by a single ton
of ammunition, and the classic 'Mechhunter autocannon with a class-5 rotary
autocannon fed by three tons of munitions. The rear-mounted lasers are upgraded
to extended range models, and the arm mounts to extended-range large lasers.
The original's heat sinks are replaced by fourteen dual-strength versions, CASE
installed in both side torsos, and all the direct fire weapons linked into a
newly developed Targeting Computer.

Deployment:
Always extremely heavily concentrated in Federated Suns service, very few
examples of this variant survived the Jihad, and they have since been relegated
to second-line formations in the AFFS, or to trusted mercenary units.

And a custom Phalanx battlesuit variant;

HTML:
Phalanx Battle Armor (NAIS)
Type: Phalanx Battle Armor
Manufacturer: New Avalon Institute of Science
    Primary Factory: New Avalon

Overview: A retrofit of captured Phalanx suits during the siege of New Avalon, this variant used
prototype systems to increase survivability and firepower. Although never mass produced due to
difficulties with the stealth armour - that were never solved until the early 3130s - and a lawsuit
from Irian Technologies, the three platoons operated by the NAIS cadets proved highly effective.

Capabilities: Replacing the King David with a Magshot and removing the AP mount, this variant uses
prototype Clan-grade stealth armour, allowing for slightly increased protection while decreasing
mass and bulk. The freed-up weight and space is used to fit a heavier SRM launcher, electronic
warfare gear, and an extra power pack for extended operations.

Deployment: The suits served with the Second NAIS Cadre and First Davion Guards until New Avalon's
relief, and then with the First Federated Suns Lancers during SCOUR. The last of the suits were
believed destroyed during the tunnel fighting under Sydney, but recently evidence has surfaced that
at least one platoon is still in use.

History: In late 3073, a Manei Domini strike team equipped with Demon-class battlesuits attempted
to assassinate Marshal Jon Davion during a staff conference with the First Davion Guards' command
team. Deploying remote jammers from a low-flying aerospace fighter, they rapidly overwhelmed the
infantry guards and might have succeeded if not for one of the cadet Palanx platoons. Responding
quickly, they threw back the initial attack by Level Is of Djinn and Tengu suits, ushering the
Marshal and his staff into a secure bunker before using their own electronic warfare gear to punch
a distress call past the jamming and deploying for defence. The arriving companies from the First
and Heavy Guards found shattered Blakist battlesuits littered through the conference site, along
with dead or critically wounded cadets; in the last room before the bunker entrance, a full Level I
of Nephilim suits lay mixed in with a squad of Phalanx armour. Only the cadet platoon leader,
Leftenant Zandra Jiao, was still alive - and that only barely; she required extensive surgeries to
survive, and would never return to active duty - her suit's battle claw buried in the heart of what
would later be identified as Zombie Precentor Sigma Baphomet, leader of at least two attempts on
Yvonne Steiner-Davion's life.

Victor had some expectations of how his life would go, being the oldest son of royalty. They didn't include his father's sudden death.
Katherine had some plans for how her own life would go, as spare to the throne. None of them involved her brother's reluctance to actually sit on said throne.
The universe is not conspiring to make their lives miserable - it doesn't really need to, there's a long list of people about to complicate the sibling's lives, intentionally or otherwise. Including, but not limited to, each other.
It's true what they say: you can't choose your family…

Are there any versions of the Firemoth that remove the hand actuators, and could you make any room for useful guns/equipment by doing so?

Yes, and probably not. Certain types and kinds of weapons require hand and lower arm actuator removal from Omnis to install in the arms: Autocannon, PPCs, Gauss, sometimes large lasers. Aletha Kabrinski piloted such a Fire Moth during the Jihad years that mounted an ER Large Laser on one arm. (And then schizophrenicly an ECM suite to break Blakist C3I, which meant getting much closer.) The problem is with only six tons to play with, one heavy energy weapon is about all it can carry. A single ER PPC or Large Pulse, or one ER or Heavy Large and a couple tons of backup weapons.

Aside from Cunning Plans to use superior range of Clan ER Large Lasers and the Dasher's speed and suffer the low hit rate from over a kilometer out, these may not be bad ideas but you only need one arm and they're kinda gimmicky at best. The most practical may be the Heavy Large which is less about kiting and more about delivering it into optimal range. None of them really need the space to fit these weapons, they're just required as Omnis , either.

Theoretically it could be done with BA equipment like in Ghosts of Obeedah.

I had a thought: Couldn't you just put an Omnimech Gyro inside a regular Battlemech to allow it to carry BA? Or is that running into the obvious "This would snap the setting over its knee, so we'll deliberately gimp it like Monitors."?

At that point, it's just a regular OmniMech with fixed equipment and no podspace.

Overview:
"Mercutio", the heavily modified King Crab used by Major Clarissa de la Vega of
the First Crucis Lancers. Captured during one of their raids against the Word
of Blake Protectorate, it was repaired out of available stores and given to
Clarissa as a replacement for her lost Battlemaster. Surviving the Jihad - and
given a comprehensive going over by General Motors' technical teams that
eliminated its gremlins - it's continued to serve in the First Crucis ever
since, and is now operated by Clarissa's granddaughter, Captain Teresa de la
Vega.

Capabilities:
Built from a heavily damaged KGC-001 chassis, the necessity of field repairs
makes "Mercutio" wholly unique. Powered by a light fusion engine, one arm
carries a heavy PPC, the other a class-5 rotary autocannon fed by three tons of
ammunition. The large laser has been replaced by a large variable-speed pulse
laser, while the LRM system is retained. The cooling system has been
overhauled, now consisting of fourteen dual-strength heat sinks, and the armour
matrix replaced by seventeen and a half tons of light ferrofibrous composites.

The most unusual, and troublesome, addition were the jumpjets; one in each leg
and one in the central torso, allowing for leaps of up to ninety meters.
Although they worked, the jets necessitated a great deal of extra maintenance
until the engineers of General Motors' Kathil plant were able to stabilise and
properly integrated them into the 'Mech's systems.

Inspired a bit by this

Background: Much like the ISF, MIIO managed to gain access to the Taurian Drone Fighter tech and saw the potential in it. Taking cues from the Sabre they modified a Sparrowhawk by removing the Life Support etc. and a single Small Laser to make room for the SRCS. The FSN, wishing to regain prominence beyond being just the transportation of the Army, put their full backing behind the "Dronification" of the Naval Areospace Arm.

The then new Starfire ASF in development caught the eye of the FSN who directed NAIS and BWDC (Banzai Weapon Design Company) to integrate an SRCS into the design. This task proved fairly easy for the teams involved, as only a cut-down Cockpit and the removal of two Heat Sinks paid for the necessary tonnage. While the Starfire did not last long, one intriguing development of the project was hat the AI "Pilot" proved remarkably quick to learn and adapt to the Starfire's modular nature. It was able to quickly lear nand familiaroze the various weapon combinations that were tested, and this data would be put to use in later Drone Omnifighters that popped up in the afftermath of the Clan Invason.

Features the following design quirks: Atmospheric Flyer, Obsolete

From the Taurians, to the Combine and Suns did Drone technology spread throughout the Inner Sphere. Every power it seemed were injecting Capital into their own projects, House Marik being no different. Rather than Light-class ASFs like their contemporaries, the FWLN instead devoted resources towards the Gotha ASF for their first operable Drone Fighter. The choice was an odd one, but the focus on long range combat was aggreeable and helped overcome the AI's shortcomings by keeping it out of danger by attacking from afar. To that end, a cut-down cockpit and the splitting of the twin LRM-15s into a sextet of LRM-5s and reduction of the Aft Medium Lasers granted both enough mass for the 3-ton SRCS and an extra ton of LRM ammo, partially fixing the longstanding issue of the low ammo pool for the Launchers.

Production Year: 3151

Battle Value: 1,760

Chassis: GM Stealth Endo-Steel
Power Plant: GM 315 Fusion XL Engine
Walking Speed: 75.6 km/h
Maximum Speed: 118.8 km/h (151.2 km/h)
Jump Jets: 100AFVTVA Standard
    Jump Capacity: 210 meters

Armament:
2 ExoStar Pinnacle (CL) ER Medium Lasers
    1 Martell-X (IS) Medium X-Pulse Laser
    1 Federated Super-6 (CL) SRM-6
1 Wunderland True Sight Bloodhound Active Probe
Manufacturer: General Motors
    Primary Factory: Kathil
Communications System: Dalban Micronics
Targeting and Tracking System: Dalban HiRez

Overview:
The latest model of General Motors' highly popular Stealth scout 'Mech,
equipped with the most advanced technologies available.

Capabilities:
Using a Clan-grade six-tube SRM launcher, this variant swaps two of the medium
lasers for Clan-grade models, and the third for a medium-gauge x-pulse laser.
The Beagle system is replaced with a more powerful Bloodhound active probe,
CASE II installed around the ammunition bay, and the armour thickened by half a
ton.

Battle History:
The new Stealth's first deployment, with the First NAIS Cadre, was an
unfortunate failure, though through no fault of the machines themselves. During
Operation DAWN, the two assigned to scout duty uncovered evidence of the
Genyosha setting up heavy ambushes for the Cadre; unimpressed and with his
typical bullheaded approach, the Prince's Champion ordered General Brendon to
push forward unsupported regardless. The result was heavy casualties, including
one of the Stealths, and the First NAIS swearing never to serve under Erik
Sandoval-Groell again.

More recently, and markedly more successful, was Capellan March Command's
liberation of Chesterton in Operation CLOUDSTRIKE. The Stealths of the
Warrior's Hall Training Cadre, working with the commando battalion of the Sixth
Crucis Lancers, slipped through Liao lines and assaulted their primary
aerodrome, destroying most of the Prefectorate Guard and Fourth St. Ives
Sentinels' aerospace support on the ground. As they escaped, Subaltern Tara
Perday stuck an even more telling blow for Chesterton's freedom, blowing apart
a Zahn heavy APC attempting to flee - and killing Sang-shao Owen Daffyd, the
highly able commander of the Sentinels.

Deployment:
Currently, this variant is exclusive to the AFFS and trusted mercenary
commands; most are found in Capellan March Command.

Notable 'Mechs & MechWarriors:
Leftenant Andrew Fowler: One of the First NAIS Stealth pilots, Andrew was lucky
to survive his 'Mech's destruction. His parafoil caught up in a tree, he bore
witness to the Cadre's heavy lossses and spent hours alone, waiting for Kuritan
infantry to find him, before the Avalonian resistance brought him back to the
First Davion Guards' main field hospital. Since reassigned to the Sixth Crucis,
he's been among the most vocal critics of the Prince's Champion in their ranks,
which says a great deal considering how the Tsamma Lancers feel about
Sandoval-Groell.

Additional:
Notes: Is subject to the following Design Quirks: Improved Sensors.
