All Things BATTLETECH!

Finally started getting some Classic games in at my LGS! :D They're 10k using a custom ruleset that the competitive community in my area developed. I've lost both of them so far, but narrowly.

Finally getting around to posting something I made using the BA weapons on non-BA units rules from Ghosts of Obeedah a while ago

Specialized to be sure, but definitely not something 'Mechs or vehicles would want to run into in a dark alley or other similarly constrained terrain.

An advanced, ilClan-era, reconnaissance variant of the J Edgar Hoovertank. Because with a name like this, it really should have a variant dedicated to sneaking up on you and watching your mail.

The use of vehicular stealth armor necessitated a modification to its armament to use 2 medium chem lasers instead of 1 ML + 2 SRM2s, as well as a more expensive XL engine, but it gained a little bit of armor and speed in the transition and it can call down artillery fire on motherfuckers it doesn't like.

Just because, have a WiGE. Heavily ammo-dependent and somewhat thin-skinned, but not intended to get up close and personal anyway. Designed to circle around the enemy at long range pelt them with missile fire (hence the name). Relatively cheap as far as WiGEs go, and inherently disposable.

Given the firing arc limitations of aircraft under the Total Warfare ruleset, I think the closest you're going to get is putting a sponson turret on a superheavy WiGE. And since sponson turrets don't seem to be implemented for support vees in MegaMekLab yet...

Guys, I'm in trouble.
In my game, the players were exploring an old Star League Era mall and they found an arcade and due to a typo they got fixated on a game called "Fist Among Lords" . They want to know more than 'It's a fighting game with characters based off the houses'. Suggestions so I don't disappoint the players?

... time to do your meme homework.
the game is a rip off of the great Mortal Kombat.
characters are great Houses, yes ...but...
There is a Power Up level where they transform into the totem Mech for their faction.
the Steiner Atlas
the Kuritan Dragon
the Capellan Vindicator
the Marik Awesome
the Davion Hatchetman
etc and ... well durn...
I think I did your homework for ya. :)

I always wondered, from a lore pov. How would the great powers feel about a proposal to have a PUBG style Battle Royale on unruly worlds in the periphery and broadcasting it as entertainment for either the masses or for the rich and powerful to reaffirm themselves that the Inner Sphere are social elites and better than the disunited Periphery

"Why go to the expense of hauling all that kit out to the periphery and setting up HPG transmitters for it, when you can just buy up some real estate on Solaris VII and bribe the local legislatures with a profit sharing agreement?"

An exactly 400 ton assault "dropship," set at this weight solely so it still takes penalties to target with capital weapons. It's more of a superheavy fighter than an actual dropship, assault or no, as the complete lack of any cargo suggests - 6 capacitored ERPPCs and 2 HAG/40s mean that it can hit any fighter in its fore arc with 184 damage, and if you get behind it 4 ERMLs are going to discourage most fighters agile enough to actually outmaneuver it. Few fighter weapons can threshold it from the front, and even from the rear it's immune to gauss rifle and CERPPC TACs.

how will it handle a Anti Air Arrow IV missile? Or a sub-cap missile?

Playing around with alternate configurations for the Phalanx battle armour, and here is a WYSIWYG one;

HTML:
Phalanx Battle Armor (E)
Type: Phalanx Battle Armor
Manufacturer: Irian Technologies
    Primary Factory: Irian

Overview
Irian Technologies have maintained production of the Phalanx battle
armour even during the post-Jihad drawdowns, and experimented with a
number of configurations in so doing. This is one of the few that proceeded
to full deployment; made to a Federated Suns specification in the early 3090s.

Capabilities
This configuration of Phalanx mounts a Magshot gauss rifle in the arm mount, and
a four-tube SRM system with six reloads in the body mount. This particular example,
from the Fourth Robinson Strikers, carries a Federated-Barret M42 in the anti-personnel
mount.

Deployment
Although developed to a Federated Suns specification, this configuration of Phalanx
became quite popular, and has spread throughout the Inner Sphere.

Battle History
A platoon of this Phalanx model survived on occupied New Syrtis, part of the resistance led
by the cadets of the Warrior's Hall. Led by Subaltern Asilia Moon, the Swords of Freedom
assassinated dozens of Capellan officers and officials during the occupation, and are rumoured
to have made an attempt on the life of Daoshen himself when he arrived to supervise Duchess
Hasek's murder. Their crowning achievement was when Julian Davion's liberation fleet arrived,
ambushing and destroying the motorcade carrying the Liao occupation governor, Daoshen's cousin
Mina, as well as sang-shaos Eaton of the First McCarrons and Zhao of the Dynasty Guard. Although
Capellan propaganda would try to claim otherwise - placing Liao's death on Hall, two years later,
and Zhao's in combat with the Fifth Crucis Lancers - the elimination of their command staff early
in the liberation ensured the Capellan occupiers never got off the back foot.

Notable Troopers
Leftenant Asilia Moon: Promoted after the liberation of New Syrtis and officially reassigned to the
First Davion Guards, the lack of sightings of Asilia since has led to speculation that she, and her
platoon, have actually been reassigned to MIIO's special operations division. The recent assassination
of Basil Hargreaves and grave wounding of Danai Liao-Centrella on Chesterton support this, as the tactics
used were textbook-perfect repetitions of the same ones Leftenant Moon used on occupied New Syrtis;
including the destruction of a Tian-zong attempting pursuit by an IED consisting of a dozen Long Tom
shells.

Overview:
'Kentaran Hammer', the customised Patriot used by Leftenant-Colonel Daniel
Orestes of the Davion Heavy Guards. One of the lighter machines in the Heavy
Guards' Fourth Battalion, it's a very rare example of a Patriot outside of
Regulan formations, and was captured by the Colonel's grandmother during the
Jihad. Believed lost with the rest of the Heavy Guards on Palmyra, when
Operation SOLAR FLARE drove there, among the survivors was Colonel Orestes and
his Patriot; its Arrow magazines long-since empty, but still otherwise ready
for action.

Capabilities:
Replacing the heavy PPC and AMS with Clan-specification ER and laser models
respectively allowed for numerous upgrades. The magazine protection was
upgraded to CASE II, the armour reinforced by half a ton, and the electronic
warfare suite upgraded to an Angel unit. The remaining tonnage was used to
augment Kentaran Hammer's close defence capabilities, fitting a medium-gauge
x-pulse laser co-axially to the PPC, and a Clan-grade ER medium laser alongside
the TAG.

Battle History:
As the survivors of Taskforce MANDRAGORA fell back into the Tower Mountains,
Kentaran Hammer held the rearguard, alongside a Hel Baker and Marauder II from
then-Captain Orestes' company. The Hammer's highly capable EW suite cloaked
their movements and jammed Kuritan communications, and its Arrow launcher was
able to smash Kuritan units from beyond their immediate ability to reply. This
culminated in the battle of Renshaw Pass, with a mixed double-company of Heavy
Guardsmen, Crucis Lancers and Royal Cavaliers holding off the Fifth and Second
Swords of Light and Seventh New Samarkand Regulars. With the Kuritans having
left their own artillery far beyond to try and catch the Davion forces, and the
loss of both of their Dragon IIs early in the battle, they had no ability to
respond to the fire of Kentaran Hammer and Hello Hellstorm - subaltern Cho
Min-seo's Hel B - pounding them as the Kuritan troops attempted to push down
the pass. In the end, guided by beacons planted by engineer teams, Kentaran
Hammer's last Arrows collapsed the walls of the pass, burning nearly two
battalions of Combine troops under thousands of tons of rock.

Deployment:
Currently, 'Kentaran Hammer' is stationed with the rebuilding Heavy Guards on
Kentares IV.

Notable 'Mechs & MechWarriors:
Daniel Orestes: One of the most senior officers to survive Palmyra, it's been
speculated that Leftenant-Colonel Orestes is in line for the Commanding
Marshal's post as the Heavy Guards are restored to a full RCT again. This is,
largely, in spite of his taking advantage of his close relationship with House
Dresari - House Orestes are close cousins to the Dresaris - to unleash public,
scathing, and - frustratingly for Erik Sandoval-Groell - highly accurate
criticisms of the Prince's Champion's conduct of SOLAR FLARE and earlier
battles.

Additional:
Note: Is subject ot the following Design Quirks: Protected Actuators, Stable.

Daniel Orestes is an Elite-rated mechwarrior (Gunnery 2, Piloting 2), with the
Forward Observer, Oblique Artilleryman and Weapons Specialist (Arrow IV)
Special Pilot Abilities.

Story idea: HOW THE HCIA STOLE CHRISTMAS

It is December 25, 2766, and one Stefan Ukris Amaris has awoken to an unpleasant surprise - someone has beaten him to the punch. While he was waiting in orbit for the weather to clear, one of the Unity City staff shot and killed Richard Cameron before killing himself. How he was not prevented is still unknown, and the Hegemony military-intelligence apparatus is engaged in panicked self-investigation, several sources very publicly blaming traitors and/or coupists.

'Fuck', he thinks.
