Alchemical Solutions [Worm/Exalted] Thread 5: Eye Eyes Eyes Eyeing Eye Eyeing Eyes

Interesting that he came up right beneath us if we're his primary target. That's not just out of schedule/pattern, but technique too: they normally surface some distance away from their primary target. It means ... he may not have been holding back as much as he normally does in the fight itself. Ominous.

Fuck.
So, Behemoth in the PRT HQ with Dynakinses. Huh. I was sure it was gonna be Colonel Mustard...
Still, not good. Behemoth right there means, in all likelihood, numerous casualties among Wards, Protectorate, and PRT members we like. :(
*checks update*

Protectorate HQ, not PRT HQ.

I'm guessing Simurgh did the aiming. Our being confined to base makes it the best chance of catching us with that.

Now for the death toll though...

I hate this interlude. It's setting the future in stone and removing our agency. Giving a feeling that what we do doesn't matter and that the future is predetermined. The gleam of the railroads through the narrative. I want to do everything in my power to mess up the situation up bad enough that this future cannot comes to pass, out of sheer spite(e.g. Killing the triumvirate with our lol!stealth)

Could you please explain your reasoning in doing this because wtf?!
Things that are set:
We will be told to use the hyperbenidiction on Eidolon.
We live.
Behemoth shows.
The Triumvirate is late.
The Triumvirate, Number Man, and Contessa live.
The fight is bad.
Protectorate HQ gets a hole in it.
At some point we will be close to Behemoth and not want to be. We will use the best get away trick we know to get away.
Something bad happened at some point to Danny, maybe just him going missing as a supervillain the week before as there is no detail on that.

And... Nothing else. Much vauge. Very wow.

near-TPK is my most conservative guess. Like Demon Spoon posted a little earlier, this Interlude kind of spits in the face of the Scenic Route quest path the overwhelming majority of the thread voted for.

That's not the point. The point is that the interlude is assuming that nothing we could realistically do can change this outcome. This makes me raeg.

If we're right next to Vista, evacuating the Wards might be possible, while the adult capes are near Mouse Protector, who also has similar Mover options. The Headquarters is on an oil rig, which means Behemoth has a bit of swimming or destroying to go before everyone is nailed. So a lot is still up in the air, no deaths are mentioned at all, only property damage(though Leviathan wiped the HQ in canon too).

Also what would Iris do?

Whoops! Spoiler alert!

Now that we (kinda) know what happened, it's time to re-live it! The Battle for Brockton Bay will be told in 7 parts, with far less direct control over the situation as it happens (happened? IT KEEPS HAPPENING!)

Worth noting, however, is that we still don't know who died (or if anyone even did… ok, yeah, someone probably died) or what actually happened to Brockton Bay - we just know it was a "loss", whatever that means. This is all still very much to be decided as we go along!

Your choices up to this point will largely influence Taylor's actions and reactions, with votes instead revolving around what general strategies and attitudes will be employed. For the first vote, the Protectorate Headquarters just got whacked by Behemoth coming up all sneaky-like under one of the former-oil-rig's supports. There is time before he hits the others and causes it to fall completely, and then there's even more time before he starts tearing through the base. You can see him moving quickly, however - he apparently is ignoring your little crab colony, so you're likely the only one that knows exactly what's going on right now.

What do you do? (Choose one, three stunts allowed)

Its bits that all ready happened, with two exceptions. The hyperbenidiction pick. And closing with Behemoth. If told put that power on him its reasonable that we would. And The Big Guy is coming for us.

A lot hasn't been said. For example causality lists and how Mr. Herokiller gets run off.

And the vote was for over all rate of escalation, not how bad the wake up boss is.

Editing in a vote.
[X] Try to save as many people as you can.

We can get new stuff.

Modified my vote, see later in thread.

[] Grab your gear and run.

We've already theorized that the endbringers might end up targetting us by observing previous trends. The best way to save people is to get the fuck away from them.

Our antigravity wings will allow us to run away better, just as I foresaw we are going to have to flee at maximum speed.

Also veekie, this situation right here is why the fuck we shouldn't raise compassion further.

Edit: seer ds states that danny is gonna die.

So we have an interlude after the battle. Are we going to play through it at all? The interlude actually reveals very little about the battle itself. Who lives and dies and how is left unsaid. Considering that it is the Herokiller... The Triumvirate survived, but they always do. Weaver survived, but she is the main character. We see that Behemoth attacked quite directly. This is not normal, but he also didn't come on the normal schedule, so this is not a surprise.

Why, though, was this a failure? Was it because it was unexpected and the response was slow and unprepared? Was it because of enormous civilian casualties? Was it because of high casualties among the combatants? The target was implied, but not outright stated, to be Weaver, and she survived.

It is interesting that Cauldron doesn't consider Weaver and Ms. Hebert to be the same person. They also know about the Great Maker. Is the latter the result of something that Taylor did?

Okay guys I think we need to grab our gear and get people out of there pronto.... although now that I think about it Gromweld Armsmaster took our gear for evaluation how close are we to it?

Also for a stunt we should probably use our swarm to help guide people to safety

The wakeup call boss being Behemoth is a pretty f-ing rapid rate of escalation.
You can't have escalation with a single data point. Escalation just determines how quickly it gets worse from here.

I strongly disagree, Quantumboost.

Edit: and of couse SB screws with the formatting. My general point stands.

[X] Grab your gear and try to save as many people as you can.
-[X] Stunt: Locate all the Wards on the base through the Swarm and get Vista to rapidly find them and get them out of the building. Help out any others we can along the way, but save our friends as the first priority!
-[X] Stunt: Call Iris back to us while we evacuate. Ask him about the mechanism for delivering a candidate for Exaltation and for him to double check anyone for candidacy during the event.
-[X] Stunt: Get in our armor, and fly off the base at top speed, attacking Behemoth from a distance and trying to lure him away from the base and the city if possible. Lure him away from other victims possibly by use of bugs. The best way to save everyone is to not put them in danger.

We can save more people if we can fly and move at twice our normal speed. I don't think we can do much without our suit.

Is it because we chose scenic? Would we have enjoyed better agency with one of the other options?

I rather would like to have a point of occult at this time, as the first dot makes you not make noob errors with charms.

Still good but not as important.

You know I can't get the image of Iris staring down Behemoth before unleashing it's full power on the Endbringer
