Alchemical Solutions [Worm/Exalted] Thread 5: Eye Eyes Eyes Eyeing Eye Eyeing Eyes

Not like they need ping when they can crush through soak and to spare. Bigger question.

Mental threads for superior Administration, super colin or super alexandria/eidolon? The speed might be more useful on a close in hitter, but the goal isn't to beat the endbringer , it's to manage the losses so the city survives and few capes die.

They'll both be vital in subsequent acts, and our planning falls out of precog while accelerated.
If we can convince Dragon to let us help as mission control, then arguably the mental acceleration would be best spent on us.
In fact, that might be the most convincing argument we can give for putting us in charge of such a thing.

If we can get people to listen to us and put us in charge of coordinating things. That's gonna be a rough sell.

Otherwise, Eidolon would be a good choice because it'll let him be more effective - and then he'll owe us a favor since all really wants is to show off how awesome he is and he hates it when people upstage him. Poor guy :p

Hopefully Dragon integrated the combat software into her armbands/swapped out the armbands for fashionable eyewear so that everyone can benefit from the coordination the software would give. Probably not though, too soon.

Oh well. Add that to the list of things we ought to do to prepare for subsequent Endbringer attacks.

Things will be rough, but we'll have a more gradual escalation of Badness. This will likely be the longest of the three modes, with more chances to stop and catch our breath and see how life progresses around us.

With War 5 and IEU, it occurs to me we just need Dragon, Chevalier and Armsmaster to back us on administrating through armband, which the reputation would help with.

Looks like votes locked, seeing as Gromwelds writing the Interlude now.

At least, that's what it says in the OP.

This is literally our first Endbringer fight they aren't just going to hand us CnC especially since we haven't demonstrated our abilities in that area.
That'd be where some persuasion would help.

We ARE rated Thinker, and most of those go into CNC, if not usually the whole thing

Oh, and as for what to get with our suit and xp:

In order of importance:
  • Reputation (Ward)x3 - Getting people to listen to us and allow us to help coordinate efforts is going to be really important if we want to minimize casualties.
  • War - Self-explanatory.
  • Lore (parahumans) - if this does what I think it does, it'll be rather important. Knowing what people can do, what they're capable of, will allow us to be much more effective in properly using our (para)human resources.
  • Awareness - circumstances on a battlefield can change at a moments notice. Will help us spot those changes. And if Coil wants to try something he'll have a harder time catching us unawares.
  • Presence (swarms) - improves our ability to communicate via swarms. Useful in relaying commands if the armband communications system stops working.
  • War (swarms) - Useful for getting our swarms in place for battlefield shenanigans with Dennis or Flechette.
  • Occult - Might help us notice if something is really off about the Endbringer. Will help us explain Earth-Bet to Iris in a way that he can understand and hopefully reduce amount of miscommunication.
As for the suit (assuming we get to use it for the fight - leverage all the things to make it so!):
  • Ballistic Weave (alt name: Kinetic Redistribution Buffer) - good armor bonus without affecting mobility which is going to be key for not getting our ass handed to us. The extra armor and bonus against solid projectiles will be helpful in a lot of scenarios: the Simurgh decides to telekinetically fling a car in our general direction, Leviathan's wave hits us with a lot of debris, or Coil tries to pull a bit of "accidental" friendly fire via Ballistic.
  • Hazardous Environment System v6.33e - absolutely essential if it's Behemoth. May also help us tank hits from Leviathans watery after-image. Good vs "accidental" friendly fire from Sundancer.
  • Distributed Computer System v5.54d - C&C and better coordination. No-brainer.
  • Motion Assist Exoskeleton - general utility. Extra strength will be useful if we have to dig people out of rubble and 2x groundspeed will be useful in circumstances where we have to hoof it and don't have room to fly.

I'd say it's kinda inapplicable if it's Leviathan or Simurgh. The watery afterimage is more of a flurried area physical attack than an ongoing environmental effect. Pretty ace for Behemoth though.

Hence the use of the phrase "may also help" instead of "will also help." Although...I think it actually might help now that I think of it. Because the important distinction is not that Leviathan is hitting us with water, it's that he's hitting us with water. One of the five elements (yes, yes I know Earth-Bet physics but one could make a solid argument based around the fact that a Water-aspect Dragonblood's Elemental Bolt Attack - which is...y'know...water - counts as an energy-based attack), but even even disregarding that the attack is blatantly environmental in nature.

Except, while ISF does that, our suit runs on Earth Bet and does not.
Doesn't change the fact that the attack is still environmental in nature. I'd say the same thing if Shatterbird was trying to slam us with a storm of glass and sand. You're getting caught up in the fact the water has an outside intelligence bringing it to bear and ignoring the nature of the attack. That's like saying that the suits protections against acid won't work because whatshisname the living-acid cape bull-rushed us.

*Reads update...*

Damn, looks like that party is going to have to wait. :(

Also, I'm not sure I read that right, but is Missy crying tears of blood??

You aren't reading it right. Paling face, wide eyes. Classic "Oh FUCK" expression.
Got it. I was afraid that the Simurgh had decided to pay PRT HQ a surprise housecall.

...Granted, that could very well be happening here anyway.

For those considering experience plans:
Athletics will not increase our speed, it increases our stability.
War (Swarm) should apply here; think of what Skitter did during the Echidna fight.
Resistance (Enduring Pain), as noted, won't negate wound penalties. It's for things like being stunned by an attack.

Shyft talked this up on IRC so I read it.

I'm gonna have to tweak some of my planned progression in my piece now . . . don't want to inadvertently copycat :/

That said, fun stuff!
Welcome! Apologies for completely ripping off your Glenn Chambers and High Heels scenes!

Even though it's a landslide, I'll at least give some warning before closing the vote:

VOTE CLOSES AT 9:00 PM PST (~1 hour from now)

I'm not exactly a buff on Exalted, but in my opinion, I can't see a better choice for the Orichalcum Exaltation than Chevalier. I mean, that speech, and, well, look at canon! Seriously, if the Unconquered Sun could, I have no doubt in my mind that he would Exalt Chevalier as a Solar! However, seeing how that's not possible, I'd say that Orichalcum is the next best thing.

Am I making sense or am I way off base?

EDIT: CHEVALIER! Typo, goddamnit! XD

I forget, did Kid Win have a spare doom canon? I think he made two, but I can't remember. If he did, and maybe even if he didn't, we should really get that thing fast.

Pretty sure he only has one doom-cannon. He has spare hoverboards, although they may or may not be in a usable state.
