Alchemical Solutions [Worm/Exalted] Thread 3: Choosy Chosen Choose Cheering Choices

...you DO realize that you guys earned 11 XP in between my posting of 2.7 and 3.1, right?

You guys are seriously not hurting for XP (or ways to gain it).
Fair enough. On that note, could you add the Background XP costs back to the front page.

It makes the fact that people burned such an enormous amount of XP on things that were very non-essential incredibly annoying. We could have bought the Familiar 5 now if we hadn't wasted it like that.
Training time is more of a limiter and war is a usefull skill. Still want to raise temperance and dodge.

[X] The Wards are in school, so take it easy this afternoon (to facilitate healing) and write emails to (re)connect with Sally, Dragon, Panacea (thank for healing attempt), the Outcasts, the Cheerleaders, and Coach Sato. Also do some light cooking for the PRT day-shift folk, making enough to cover most of their lunches, and talk to them about what's going on and how the PRT is responding to yesterday's events.

[X] Meditate to recuperate your essence and speed up your healing. Spend the time analyzing the thing in your Elsewhere pocket.

For everyone voting for this stunt:

-[ ] Stunt: Have a talk with Panacea about Glory Girl's aura, especially the long term effects that may be happening. Break it to her gently. It'd be a bit of a shock.
Please consider what it's a stunt of, which is:

[ ] The Wards are in school, so take it easy this afternoon (to facilitate healing) and write emails to (re)connect with Sally, Dragon, Panacea (thank for healing attempt), the Outcasts, the Cheerleaders, and Coach Sato. Also do some light cooking for the PRT day-shift folk, making enough to cover most of their lunches, and talk to them about what's going on and how the PRT is responding to yesterday's events.
Note the bit in bold and underlined. Amy Dallon is also going to be in school. We are not there with her. That means we cannot talk to her in person. That means we would be sending her an email. Please consider that an email out of the blue from a stranger is just about the worst way we could tell her this. This is magnified by the fact that we have Linguistics 0. That means that we write absolutely appallingly bad letters and emails, given that Linguistics takes the place of Appearance for written social interactions. That means it would have the same effect as being spoken to in person by someone who was so hideous it reached the level of a deformity.

There's a reason I suggested the stunt:

- Stunt: You hate to admit it, but you need expert advice on this, and, apart from Glenn, you only know one expert. Coach Sato. It is with a certain nervousness that you track down her office phone number and ring her during one of the breaks in her timetable. You're in luck though, and she's more than happy to help you plan out what you want to say, and to read out your message to the cheerleading team. Of course, you do all this invisibly.
For this goal, as it allows us to bypass this massive and serious handicap. It also doesn't try to have us drop a life changing bombshell on someone in a way so spectacularly insensitive that it becomes active cruelty.

I would also ask that people reconsider the armour. We don't need to now. We have much much urgent things to do. Given what our goals are, we'd be better off making ourselves Exceptional silk clothes to use as social tools. We're likely to be able to do that in an afternoon, unlike the armour.

[X] - Stunt: Email Panacea, saying you have something you need to talk to her about, ask her when she'd be free to meet us and arrange a bit of private chat time.

[X] Start fully remaking your costume into armor, Kid Win and Armsmaster technology in addition to to some other ideas of your own. This will take 4 more Intervals, and then will need to go through Tech Review and PR Approval.
[X] - Stunt: Mail Glenn for his opinion on the idea. Mention that it'd take some time to build, so he's in no hurry, and it should speed the PR review at any rate.

[X] Familiar Conservation XP Plan
-[X] Bank XP until we can buy that Familiar.

Honestly, I wanna make Piggot an Alchemical now just for giggles :)
Honestly, after the screaming about removing her humanity until she calms down enough to think?

Piggot: "...Hang on, how is a Champion chosen again?"

Us: "Through great and noble service to your fellow man."

Piggot: "There's no ego problems involved?"

Us: "Unless you count your sense of self-worth knowing how much people depend on you, no."

Piggot: "No rising yourself above humanity?"

Us: "No, you're supposed to defer to a mortal."

Piggot: "Any mental effects at all?"

Us: "Do you count becoming more sober and logical if you grow distant from humanity?"

Piggot: "...."

(Later)

Piggot: "As of today, I am announcing a proposal for a mass Alchemical conversion program..."

In any case:

[x] The Wards are in school, so take it easy this afternoon (to facilitate healing) and write emails to (re)connect with Sally, Dragon, Panacea (thank for healing attempt), the Outcasts, the Cheerleaders, and Coach Sato. Also do some light cooking for the PRT day-shift folk, making enough to cover most of their lunches, and talk to them about what's going on and how the PRT is responding to yesterday's events

[x] Investigate our father's kidnapping
- [x] Stunt: Review the video of Danny's kidnapping, burning Essence furiously [2nd Perception Augmentation]. Through replay after replay, some with your microscopic lenses activated, you're resolved to pore over every detail of what happened. Going over their placement and actions throughout looking for details, clues and insight into where they came from, where they might be going, and especially what they're saying.

Well, switched to a meeting arrangement. Panacea is pretty busy, so barring going looking for her, we'd need to make sure she's free before befriending her.

And also there's more than one thing to talk about, we have Glory Girl's aura, but she also has been giving us some weird looks about our physiology. Should find out how much she knows and our approach to that.

Sorry for ranting on this, but the other reason I object to the Panacea 'stunt' is that it's not a stunt. A stunt tells you how you accomplish the goal you've set yourself, not what that goal is. It's not a subvote. Grom has made that pretty clear.

The Panacea vote does not meet that standard. If you want to try this, the correct style to do it is:

[ ] Write In: Tell Panacea the awful truth and make her trust you* to turn her into an Alchemical
- [ ] Stunt: Ring up Panacea and leave a message on her phone, telling her you know that there's something wrong with her. Demand that she coms to visit you as soon as possible. When she arrives, be invisible and whisper, alternating ears, that you know that she's sick, that her sister's power has twisted her mind. However, she can still be fixed, the damage done to her can be repaired. Not only that, but she can be made immune to being twisted again, so she can go near her sister again, which, of course would otherwise be just too dangerous. She has to trust us though, and allow herself to be remade. Then, give her to Autocthon. She will be your sister now. MWAHAHAHAHAH!!!

*in a manner pleasing to the Ebon Dragon.

This accomplishes what seems to be the underlying goal her. First it makes it clear, then it says how to go about doing it. And yes, for my own amusement I've assumed that the people who wanted to tell Panacea about what had happened in almost the worst way possible were doing it deliberately, so chose to build on that for my example. Sue me :p

And yes, it's deliberately evil and OOC. That's so no one is tempted to actually vote for it.

I'm pretty sure it has a good chance of working though.

Hmm I think we just threw a wrench into Coils plans again, since his ability couldn't account for that discussion

........

why would you

We legitimately just meet her yesterday. We don't know her. We don't friggin know her! Why?!

Doubly so when right afterwards we go on to do things just as predicted again(just wait till the butterflies hit some boulders).

If it's Alratan's proposed vote, he was being sarcastic I'm sure.
For the email thing, it seems like a way to get to know her, and deal with one of the standing issues of Glory Girl induced brain damage, our physiology, and the strange look she's been giving us(if it's not one or both of the previous items).

I would have thought the 'MWAHAHAHAHAH!!!' at the end would have given that away.

We have so, so many more important things to deal with right now.

Yup, since now they know that someone changed the orders slightly. Plus the constant scanning, Tinkering and the like will really mess up the predictions as long as LSM is on

You know, the precedent that having our bug control charm active and Obvious in front of Lisa meaning she could detect it as a parahuman power rather suggests that our charms are translated into their shard granted equivilents.

If this is the case, when we're using Omnitool Implants it will register as us using a Changer/Tinker power, when we use Incomperable Efficiency Upgrade it will look like we have a Thinker power, etc.

..... This clearly means a thing, and only a thing!
Chatspeak Alchemical Taylor!
A question: if i rewrite all the dialogues of Taylor in Chatspeak will we gain bonus xp?

Strangely tempting though. And quite feasible with Exalted Social Charms. :p
I don't think you even need charms. A write-in that hits her right in the feels should be enough. If I was really going for the kill I'd have added something about whether she's sure she can be trusted, or trust herself, to heal people when she's so badly damaged.

On the matter of Panacea's mental warping:
This is something we absolutely need to address.
Sometime in the coming weeks.
Right now, though? It's a distraction. We are nowhere near close enough to her (or anyone in New Wave) to achieve anything constructive by hurling around this kind of drama bomb. This will unleash a shitstorm which will not help with our current problem. Keep it in mind, and handle it after we've rescued our father.

On the matter of investigating:
That is something that needs to be done, and quickly. However, it is also something that needs to be done in collaboration with Piggot - working with her, we already have a lead. So, absolutely no sneaking out, and let's delay the sneaking around the HQ until Piggot's done some of the ground work. For now, she's told us to replicate Armsmaster's lie detector, and she's goddamn right - that should be our first priority. So, I'd say to focus on workshopping that:

Workshopping:
[X] Start fully remaking your costume into powered armor using Kid Win and Armsmaster technology (and left-overs), as well as some innovations of your own. This will take 4 more Intervals, and then will need to go through Tech Review and PR Approval.
- [X] Stunt: Try to get some extra Tinker help with this. Kid Win, Armsmaster, or both could make this go a lot faster, and time is of the essence.

One With The People:
[X] The Wards are in school, so take it easy this afternoon (to facilitate healing) and write emails to (re)connect with Sally, Dragon, Panacea (thank for healing attempt), the Outcasts, the Cheerleaders, and Coach Sato. Also do some light cooking for the PRT day-shift folk, making enough to cover most of their lunches, and talk to them about what's going on and how the PRT is responding to yesterday's events.

On the subject of Backgrounds:
Personally, it has always been my feeling that Backgrounds should be the result of the PCs' actions, not XP expenditure - it gives meaning to our actions, and shows that they have impact. Gromweld, maybe make Backgrounds free, and simply hand out XP less frequently? Heck, I feel you're pretty liberal in handing it out as is.

Medic!:
[X] Meditate to recuperate your essence and speed up your healing. Spend the time analyzing the thing in your Elsewhere pocket.

I wonder if we're supposed to reconstruct Autocthon out of Shards or something like that. He targetted the bearer of the Queen Administrator specifically, and then remade that shard into a charm. Which is actually a pretty big thing considering the relationship between a Primordial and their Charms. And when you consider the QA's original function ...
This is our Destiny: our new Autochthon will be made of BEES!

-[X]Stunt: Ask to Armmaster if he can spare a second to give to you a direct link to Dragon, given that you at minimum ruined accidentally one of her suits and are worried about her.

[X] Meditate to recuperate your essence and speed up your healing. Spend the time analyzing the thing in your Elsewhere pocket.

It is better to understand what exactly happened to Dragon, before trying to get the Shiny familiar; potentially getting Dragon as a familiar is cool, but it is better if she will become an Alchemical.
