Alchemical Solutions [Worm/Exalted] Thread 17: Quality Quest Quizzes Quixotic, Quailing Quorum

Right now my shortlist is Colin (O), Aisha (M), Missy (J), and Lisa (St). But Lisa isn't willing, Missy isn't currently available, Aisha is too useful right now for Weaver/Vajra/Who three-way tag-team murderninja action (NOT A EUPHEMISM), and my inner Accord demands our Assembly have an equal gender balance.

Colin isn't nearly as immediately useful, especially with the local tinker labs destroyed. I'm leaning towards him, though the timing doesn't matter as much.

Buuuuuuuut if we have an all female assembly we can call ourselves AUTOCTHON'S ANGELS with Iris as Charlie :p

Colin has other issues as Vajra noted earlier, his mentality is at present not suited to being Exalted yet, he's still focused on his own fame, glory and prowess.

And done!

[X] Holding Out For A Hero: Time is critical right now and you need everyone you have. (Stunt details what situation might cause Taylor to offer Exaltation, emergency or otherwise, to someone.)
-[X] Stunt: Penetrating to the heart of the Nine's macabre labyrinth, Taylor gazes in horror at the 'machine' in it's core. Missy, the living centerpiece of a mock cathedral, built into a crossbeam, internal organs and spine replaced with intricate mechanisms. Her eyes remain resolute, even as she blinks back relieved tears. "Missy, I...have an offer. Blink once if you accept."

[X] Free Action: Cerulean lightning slashes through the air and strikes the ground, leaving heavy crates of medical supplies and communicators where they are most needed, Vajra moving with impossible efficiency. The city divided into an optimal grid, simultaneously reaching the worst affected areas, restoring communications and locating the origin point. For all his faults, Accord's plans are faultless.

I figure Amelia can't fix partial cyborgization easily, if at all

Accord would certainly be the most amusing choice.

No children should be on the table. Not even Vista. With Wyld in town our plausible deniability has just vanished.

You're surprised Heartbreaker didn't have books or information about the Spanish Inquisition lying around for his kids to read?

Very. You know how hard it is to find books that treat the Inquisition as the good guys?

Poor Sidereals. Stuck with only bullshit martial arts, for example. Of course, now The Mask is no longer broken (it just doesn't exist).

Noooooo! A world without Duckpunch is a world without joy. :(

Loom is a hard No because we don't know her enough to trust her.

And if we knew her that well, we know not to trust her.

You could stunt in whatever immediate and necessary circumstances you want.

As for veekie's stunt...can Vista even control her blinking right now?

Something to consider...snatching Saki/Sakura or Missy from the 9 is a good way to take away a lot of their ability to evade right now.

I'm thinking a stunt that involves forcing Saki/Sakura to transport themselves and the other hostages (through a brilliant diversion/strategy) to their dimension with EOA, FPoP, and Wyld in tow. Then knock them out so they stay there while we work to de-Bonesaw/Bakuda them.

But that still leaves having to Exalt somebody and having an immediate need to in order to save them...

Holding is definitely the right call sticking someone else in now removes any chance of using it in a true emergency. Going to wait and see for a bit before voting though.

He's right. You had to play a lot of cards to get this many heroes to show up. Looking outside, you can recognize Legend, Weld, and Narwhal, but there are many more...

We don't want to take currently useful people out of action at this time, we might need the save and, our circle of useful acquaintances is still small. We've concentrated on building our own power base as a famous and successful Ward, which is useful and will only get more so as we need support for things like permanently changing physics itself and integrating hundreds of millions of new humans without setting off wars, but it does mean that we haven't been actively looking for the best candidates.

Maybe the next candidate from the current list because of time constraints and spend that week focused on searching.

Robert and Missy are awesome and would be shoo ins as Solars and I'm sure it would be useful for the Maker to dissect their shards but I'm not sure Robert's a great match for any of the castes and the self sacrifice of jade is where I'd least trust a child's consent (many will disagree with me). I'd be happy with the Jade we got by exalting Vista but I don't want to do that to her and I don't want to deal with the complications. I don't want to lose Chevalier for a week and, if caste requirements are tightening, risk losing him altogether.

Hannah would probably come out Moonsilver. Very adaptable lady with an adaptable power. She'd be a solid addition to the Assembly.

Accord: his long term goals may be laudable (and Orichalcum level grand) but he's habituated to the money, power and murder of people who irritate him that come with being a gangster. He's a bad man. He'd also be a slap in the face to Marrow. Currently trying to avoid horrible death in Boston - who is hunting him? Could be worth stunting a rescue/pickup/kidnap so he can try and avoid horrible death here where we can use him.

Colin is a definite possibility for moonsilver. Marrow is right that he's a bit of an arsehole but we don't have to like each other to work together. If we want to fill the cradle as soon as we know we don't need it for an emergency save then he'd be my pick.

Dean is solid. A responsible user of an abusable and useful power. Will be a stronger candidate in a few months when he has reached 18 and had time to grieve.

Aisha would benefit the most if she exalts. Many complications for us though and a real risk that she wouldn't come out the other side.

The twins: of course we'd love a teleporter in the assembly but there's nothing to suggest they'd be good candidates otherwise.

Would people PLEASE consider adding this to their XP purchases? If we don't get it now it's going to go away and Bezalel's drone are going to sick around at least till the next vote so we can get them later, same with Craft (drones) since we won't be building any drones yet while we're working SATCOM.

We can make more drones with the Throne.

I checked, we know her tongue is gone(and that she bit it off to try and kill herself rather than let the Nine use her, which suggests they have something more planned for her than just a hostage) and she's rendered immobile somehow, but we have some leeway to stunt in just where the damage went, accounting for the Nine's level of damage and current themes.

Partial cyborg conversion and a crude, inaccurate blasphemy of Autochton should be enough damage to give suitable justification.Amy can't heal her without first removing the artificial organs, which has a good chance of killing her before she regenerates them, as well as running severely low on raw materials she can use since the limbs are gone and Missy was skinny to begin with, not to mention any possible boobytraps. We can make a solid case, even let Amy take a shot at it first if she dares, but it should be reasonably clear.

The safest solution is then to take the entire setup to the Cradle, where Autochton can recover her still intact mind.

Personally, I'm holding off on the voting. I like the idea of more Exalted, but PR seems a bit iffy at the moment and walking off, getting a new bridge, messing up relations and sticking another dead body into EOA seems a bit callous. I figure we can get Accord to prep a new bridge while we deal with the S9. Someone or the other will inevitably end up in a critical condition, sooner or later. I prefer MM, but I'm mostly cool about who gets into the Cradle. Hoping to see Loom ruined for what she did to FPP, though.

Anyhow, main point - 2 XP for the cast list. I've id'd the following sections for updates. Go along with it if it makes sense -
  • Bezazel - current status as S9 puppet/dead/what
  • Marrow - entry considers her a candidate. Update to mention she is FPP, knows about Cauldron
  • Loom - involvement with Cauldron, evil smile?
  • Assault & Battery - bun-in-the-oven, Hatchet Face?
  • Miss Militia? - name says she's 'Hannah Smith' but Parahumans Wiki just says 'Hannah'. What?
  • Xylophone - possible yandere to confirmed yandere, absolutely hates EOA and Gallant.
  • Weaver? - Lacks details.
  • Vista and misc. - captured by S9
  • Boston Protectorate/Wards - Doesn't identify who is a Protectorate member and who isn't.
  • Legend - might want to mention candidacy, access to information on The Maker.
  • Alexandria - Mention personality quirks observed in Arc 7.5
  • Strider - mention friendship with FPP?
  • Philadelphia PRT - maybe add the directions as points on the map in the OP?
  • Uriel - mention his knowledge on The Maker?
  • Dragon, Undersiders, Panacea, Parian - Update about their involvement (and new names) when it comes to Wyld Hunt. Plus, Rachel's wolf-like dogs. And Amy's garden. And, AmyxSabah. And maybe mention Parian-Weaver silk trade. (Apparently, Amy's making silk too?)
  • New Wave - Looks sparse. Either add power info and relations, or compress the section into a single blurb.
  • Philadelphian Misc. Boulder Builders - confirmed that Geode is Stonewall's daughter. Maybe add blurb to Avalanche. End of VTV.
  • Brockton Bay - Do the Merchants really need cape-by-cape blurbs? They're either dead (maybe at Accord's hands, maybe not) or no one cares.
  • ABB - Lung missing, don't remember about Oni Lee.
  • E88 - Mention migration to Boston.
  • Coil - Presumed dead? Seems so since Undersiders have apparently broken with him but I don't recall much there.
  • Uber - he went somewhere, right?
  • Faultline's - their evac was mentioned too, right?
  • Iris of Innovation - He doesn't have <- name there. Plus, mention capture by S9, potentially being used to give Crawler god-hood-level-teeth. Hey, at least he isn't getting god-like-armour or something. That'd be annoying to deal with.
  • Cenotaph - Cauldron merc/bogeyman. And, his middle name is Ray? For reals?
  • Saint - yeah, he knows about the Maker, but he doth not believe.
  • Accord - Praise be to the Maker of the Bridge.
  • No data on Suits/King's Men. Looks sad.
  • Crawler - new knives. I mean, teeth.
BTW, seems like there's too much random data that isn't really important. Stuff like boring high school characters that everyone that read the first arc of Worm would know, and random S class threats that have no bearing on the story whatsoever. I mean, why not just link the Parahumans Wikia instead? On the other hand, you could just throw in every random character we see like the people at EOA's new high school.

Possibly, I just think that having insect drones available sooner would be more useful than sniping at present.

Or we get 2 more omakes before the votes close and get them all! :D

That's only if people remember to update their votes or they don't just drop a vote and run.

Anything Bonesaw can do, Wyld can undo, especially with us around to provide a source of infinite biomass. Wyld is also much closer than flying all the way to the cradle. As long as we keep her alive, emergency Exaltation isn't even an issue.

When it comes to the XP distribution, it's just a difference in opinion over Athletics&Sniping vs Drones, right? Both are useless against Crawler, Siberian. Mannequin might be able to mess with the drones, Jack could just slice them all Blade-Storm like. Did the existing drones even survive Shatterbird? If they did, they still won't be too useful against her, but Sniping might help. Still, might as well leave her to FPP's ramming. Athletics would be really useful in close quarters, so I gotta say I'm leaning towards it. Sniping might not be too useful against the S9 overall coz of Bonesaw's upgrades, though I might be underestimating EOA here. I figure some more Manipulation and Charisma would be really useful against Jack (and for the PR).

Bonesaw's upgrades are not nearly enough to negate artillery grade munitions. If they were, Jack would have no need to use the Siberian's "Fuck you, Physics" invulnerability touch to protect himself.

*sigh*
You DO realize that the GM has made the point that Accord is literally fighting for his life and that of his organization, and is in no state to be contracting out, right?
Relevant quote from the GM
The Boulder Builders may be a bit preoccupied with not being horrifically murdered in Philadelphia. Accord may be a bit preoccupied with not being horrifically murdered in Boston.

Part 2 of Voting for 8.1 going up after the next chapter.
Every time people bring up Accord and plans in this arc, a puppy dies.
Think of the puppies.
