Alchemical Solutions [Worm/Exalted] Thread 15: Occluded Orb Obsessively Observes Obscene Operations

Well, presumably, ISF would let you survive in a blackhole/Singularity. Getting out would probably be a bit tricky though.
What do you mean "out"? If it can't compact you enough to hurt you, you can't go "in". Though I guess there might be the temporal distortion to consider. Though considering the mass being put into this one, it wouldn't be big enough to stretch across her entire body, so that'd stand a good chance of getting lolnoped too on grounds of damage via temporal sheering. Even if not, her head would be out of range of her center of mass so it's not like she'd experience a stretched out eternity. No, basically the biggest issue would be the black hole latching onto her center of mass and being very heavy. And presumably too short lived to matter.

If i am not mistaken, we need 6 xp to address the matter properly. And we already have some spare plus some unassigned.

We can earn Experience Point with Omakes, correct?

Yep, its 1 xp per omake, 0.5 xp if it isn't long enough. 3 xp iirc for art if its your first time and 2 xp for every other piece after that.

Should negate the temporal dilation too.

What it DOESN'T negate is the vortex formed by everything getting sucked towards it and basically getting pinned on the Singularity by the weight of the air and debris being sucked into it.

The problem isn't what happens when the blackhole forms, the problem is when it evaporates and takes that hemisphere of the planet with it.

Most small blackholes don't last that long anyway, can't recall what the selfsustaining mass was, but it's not that low, so more likely it'd expand to it's predetermined maximum growth then evaporate into a mass of randomized particles.

Ok, i will bite it. At first i wanted to stress how it is important to buy Dragonsuit and all this jazz...

But!

If we buy Dragonsuit as Artifact - will we keep Dragon inhabiting it?

Hm. Here's what Gromweld had to say on the matter:
I'm not going to spoil everything that happened with the Dragonsuit, as we'll see more of that in 7.7 and 8.1, but it sorta went like this:
- Taylor began absorbing the Dragonsuit
- Something weird happened, but the effect eventually finished.
- The Weird Thing and Taylor's studying of the suit combined to make her realize that Dragon is actually a Person.
- TIE is now mad at Taylor for having tricked it into eating a Person, and is trying to get her to barf up the suit.
By paying for the Artifact, we can fight down TIE's grumpyness and keep it absorbed for now. However, if we ever extrude the suit we're not getting it back - what we're paying for is effectively a huge Craft/Lore 'teacher' for Tinkertech, as well as a path towards unchaining Dragon.

On what would have happened if we didn't buy the Artifact:
From an OOC perspective, it would work like this:
- Dragon is killed by Taylor eating her with TIE while in Twins Dimension.
- Dragon eventually reboots from a backup, doesn't know what happened with TIE (since we were in pocket dimension).
- Taylor vomits up Dragonsuit (in case of not being purchased with XP).
- BOTH Dragonsuit and replacement-Dragon self-destruct from Shackles.
- Dragon eventually reboots from a backup, likely not understanding what killed her again (especially since she was in her home servers) and worried about it.

So yeah. We'd be killing her three times instead of once... but she'd still 'get better'.

Make of that what you will.

Ah, good. And so i say: We bloody MUST buy this artifact!

Onwards, to Keyboard! Omakes time :D

@Gromweld

-Something Useful:

Fairy Shield - Developed by an Ex-Elite Tinker (Dr. Dazzler), the Fairy Shield gets it's namesake from the fact that it's comprised of 3 floating metallic balls that emit Blue, Red, and Green lights when activated. By wearing the glove it is wirelessly connected too, the Fairies will orbit around you by at least 3 feet. When an object attempts to strike the user (the speed of a thrown punch is the lowest it will activate), one of of the Fairy's will place themselves before it and emit a 4' x 4' Forcefield that matches it's color. While in this state the Fairy is immobile until the end of danger or the shield dissipates. That being said, the Forcefield is remarkably powerful, capable of once withstanding 2 Full-Powered blasts from Legend per Fairy. It will lose connection if the user is seperated at 200 yards.

Or

Jaunt - One of the few devices left over from the mad Professor Haywire, the Jaunt is less a teleporter and more of a minor doorway. Named after an acclaimed novelist's short-story, the Jaunt is 6" x 6" Cube that when placed against a flat surface (any material) the Jaunt molds itself to the surface and creates a 6 foot opening to the otherside. Video recordings have timed the device as opening within 3.45 seconds and moving from one side to another is the same as walking through a doorway. Once the user passes through the Jaunt, they can close it with a simple swipe of their fingers, closing the doorway in 3.48 seconds. Test have shown that objects can be torn apart when trapped between the Jaunt.

Or

Stop-Watch - The symbol of one of the PRT's more mysterious members, Clock-Work. The device takes the appearance of a silver pocket-watch and chain with glowing blue lines criss-crossed on it's surface. To activate the device, one must open the clasp at top of tje watch and point it in any direction they so please. Once opened, a blanket of blue temporal distortion covers the area targeted, trapping whoever or whatever in its 100 foot range. Projectiles launched into the distortion slow to a crawl (bullets move an inch every 10 seconds and lasers 30 feet every 5 seconds) and living beings are nearly stopped completely. The only exception was the hero Velocity, who claimed it felt like wading through syrup when at his fastest. The distortion lasts a good minute before suddenly vanishing and all objects regain their momentum. The Stop-Watch takes another minute to fully charge afterwords and the clasp must be closed in the mean time.

Ah, we have bought the Artifact. Voting's closed, and we managed to scrap by sufficient XP.
Hopefully, this means Taylor now understands Dragon's code, and has a leg-up for understanding tinkertech in general.

Still, Dragon was out of commission at the exact moment of the attack. I doubt Jack Slash knew that. Could the Simurgh have timed it that way, considering Taylor is likely a blind spot in her precog?

Think of the timeline you, the players, know:

- At some point, EOA and Dragon go into TwinPower!Dimension
- EOA goes schloorp on Dragonsuit
- Dragon is off line

- At some point, FP calls the Twins for pick up. Goes to voicemail for one twin, so she calls second twin
- Chats with the nice girl called Riley for a few minutes
- During that chat, or just before that chat, Protectorate Island in Philly gets taken over and the labs get Singularitied
- Just after that chat finishes, FP gets an alert about the lockdown of Protectorate Island

Looking at that Timeline, I think there is good cause to think that Jack Slash has some idea on when Dragon was out of commission.

So one twin is with EOA, in pocket dimension right now(or before shit goes down), the other is totally just having a shopping trip with this sweet blond girl.

Anyone else suddenly need to use the bathroom or was that just me? Can I pray that Iris gets connected to Taylor while he is still sane? Cause I get the feeling you will be seriously flipping us this coming interlude since by far this is the most interludes I have seen in one arc.
Any how for the vote if it is still open then this is my cast:
Storm the Castle: Kick in the Front Door
[X] Stunt:
Giving a Tinker time is a sure fire way to lose, so using your unyielding defense and ISF you tear through the corridors in search of the rogue tinker. Your search bares fruitful for finding a tinker, even though the sight of that white featureless face fills you with dread.

Where's a Rogue when you need one? Take Ten
[X]Stunt: Even after all the time you have spent, both recent and past, on the Island you ARE dealing with a Drone building tinker who has been recently fine tuning his bots and has a special surprise inside his lab. Better to be prepared for anything and everything to be thrown at you and your backup.

Do You split the party? No, stick together.
[X]Stunt: You silence Bladedancer's rising protest with a neutral look and a raised hand. "I do not think you weak, but we don't have communication right now and are dealing with a tinker that knows us and our powers all too well." You omit the obvious that your own powers are different now and still being tested, since both of us know that. With a reluctant nod she follows your lead to watch your backside, both figuratively and literally.

Calculus of War: Save PRT Workers
[X]Stunt: While saving the Civies would normally be number one on your list, right now you need to know what happened from the most knowledgeable sources to get a better picture on what truly happened while you were away. Hopefully one of them knows where the rest of the Philly's heroes are or at least where they were last seen before the shit hit the industrial size fan.

Grab-Bag:
[X] Something useful.

After all, like hell she is leaving her armor behind after all the hell she has had to go through to keep it. Not even Behemoth was going to separate her from it(at least its useful parts like the antigrav modular)
Please give use a Riley switching sides and becomes an Alchemical Exalt, as I does doubt she would count as one.

Possibly. I, myself, don't know exactly what the timeline looks like, but that's a roughly put together one that shows some things that are interesting.

*SNIP*

Voting is closed; was closed last night, actually. Also, you do not have to worry about your armour. You had it; it was bought and paid for and a little thing like this will not take it away. The Something Useful is for something new.

EOA had to exit the pocket dimension somehow, so if they attacked RIGHT when Dragon lost signal due to being in another dimension, she'd be rather surprised when she comes back to the building to find everything hostile.

@Gromweld
I kinda object to Marrow having a cape by the way; doesn't work well for someone who has to manage Plasma Thruster Assembly.
That's something that's going to come up later. Marrow just really wants a cape, but yeah, PTA might get in the way of that.
@Gromweld

You mean Alfred Bester's, "The Stars, My Destination"? Because I love that book.

The experiment ended at around 5:30pm, so Dragon has been out of contact for at least 1 hour.
