Alchemical Solutions [Worm/Exalted] Thread 10: Journey Joins Juniors, Jerk Jinxes Juju

I guess nobody wants to discuss Winslow 2.0? We could beat the place into shape, and I REALLY don't want any of our traumatzed teammates going through the same crap Taylor did.
There's far more than three high schools in Philly. I doubt they would send any of the BB Wards to the supposed shithole that Winslow 2.0 is.

Besides, I think the Undersiders got an amnesty for participating in the Endbringer fight.
That didn't happen to villains in canon, why would it happen here?

There's a truce during Endbringer attacks, it doesn't give villains who fight a get out of jail free card for their previous crimes, they can just leave without attempts being made to apprehend them then and there. They're still implicated in very serious offences, including the conspiracy to murder us.

[X] Feel The Burn: Now you get to see what most other city's Wards get to do instead of patrol: training! Lots, and lots of training on the obstacle courses and time in the sparring ring with the other Wards. DODGE!
-[X] Stunt: It has come to your attention during the battle with Behemoth that the other Wards are poorly equipped and not making full use of their abilities. Talk to available Tinkers to see about getting everyone properly equipped, and work on team tactics for various situations. IEU greatly enhanced Vista's abilities, experiment with the rest of the wards to study its effects on their powers and get them used to it. Make sure to get acquainted with the other Wards' abilities and backgrounds. Perhaps some of them are broken like Autochton.

[X] The Fourth Estate: While all the Brockton Bay Wards have had to go through the media machine this week, you've had an extra-heaping helping of local Television interviews, meet-and-greets, and photo ops. Smile!
-[X] Stunt: Make use of the opportunity to promote support for combating S-class and A-class threats. Emphasize the need for humanity to stand together against these threats to civilization, that even those who are not able to contribute to a direct conflict can be of enormous assistance in rescue, evacuation, or support roles. Push the message of unity, across nations and personal matters. All humanity must stand together, or fall alone. Make an effort to spread the videos of our interviews around to ensure that at least some of them go viral.

[X] No Good Deed…: On an example patrol you went on, staying to help a group of civilians with some random task got you involved in a three-way gang/vigilante brawl. You helped win the day, but… the paperwork.
-[X] Stunt: It was a golden opportunity for you get to know the non-PRT parts of the city's cape population, and get some unofficial contact with them, but it was even more of a surprise to know that some of them are sponsored by local businesses interested in keeping some order in the city. While stooping to being a heroic billboard is a bit on the crass side, you learn about some business owners who would be open to city improvement projects. You also met new capes who may be candidates for recruitment when you know them better.

School Rules: (Choose one, one stunt allowed!)
[X] Bacchanalia: Northeast High School, with an International Baccalaureate Program.
-[X] Stunt: Inform Director Uriel that you would like to supply spider silk uniforms for the local Wards, Protectorate and PRT, and that your ability to do so would be greatly increased if you had access to terrariums full of spiders in an otherwise empty apartment close to the school. At the school, make sure to enroll into parahuman studies, psychology, sociology, economics, languages and politics courses, even as your enhanced abilities and bug-assisted multitasking in the apartment allow you to rapidly complete standard curriculum. The world needs to be put to order, but you need to persuade them to LET you.

- [X] Stunt: While it's true when you tell your friends that you're taking one from the team, the deeper truth is that you have a deeper motive for playing along. The people you meet here have power, influence, both things you need if the Endbringers are to be defeated and the world saved. You just have to work out who they are and ensure that they are open to speak to you again.

[X] Taste Is Blind: Kathy Patrice and Glenn's assistant showed up at the PRT's doorstep and stole you for twelve straight hours. You can read Elsewhere-stored books while you model, but she spoke of a return visit…
- [X] Stunt: You have several entrepreneurial ideas for leveraging your powers. One of them is an ad on PHO to Parian, inviting her collaboration on your spider silk business. Right now the public doesn't know that Parian & Panacea have joined the Undersiders, so you're not publically consorting with villains. You still want to open a dialogue with Tattletale. Also, you want to provide a way for that team to go legit and avoid a kill order. You hope your new assistant can help and proof read your post.

[X] Winslow, Round 2: Frankford High School, to bring Order to the Chaos.
- [X] Stunt: You walk in to your second new school in as many months glad that clarity suppresses the butterflies in your stomach, as memories of Winslow die hard. This time though, you know what to do. You've already arranged to sit down with the principle to arrange an introduction on your own terms, where you can make a speech to the school about the anti-bullying program you're the face of. Third time lucky.

Welcome to Philadelphia: A Week of Hell (Choose three, one Stunt allowed for each!)

This stunt doesn't even make sense.

That leaves Northeast and Frankford.
I can live with either, but I would really prefer Frankford, because it gives us a more or less free hand to enact radical change and demonstrate what a motivated Alchemical can do.
It would be a full workout of Investigation, Awareness, Social and Presence.
And I suspect Taylor would get major satisfaction from turning things around there.
Counterpoint: We rejected BB 2.0 (Boston), why should we go to Winslow High 2.0 with all the stressors inherent to that environment?

Because beating it in to shape would be cathartic for Taylor, and we're way too high profile for the normal perpetrators in that kind of social structure to give us any real crap. Consider it a way to cope with some unresolved issues from her past.

Not in Taylor's character. She's more likely to say "adios" than to willingly step back into a Winslow High-like cesspool, given the choice.

But would she be willing to leave the problem alone if it means other people will go through the same kind of crap she did at Winslow? She might equate that with all the people who just stood by and watched it all for two years instead of doing anything to help her. Even worse, THOSE people were generally scared of being targeted by Taylor's bullies as well while Taylor herself has NOTHING to be scared of if she gets involved.

Not sure what you're getting at here.
Basically we're saying that Taylor doesn't walk away from a problem, she beats it into submission, or beats it to death with its own spine.

I don't quite get the argument for Frankford High School. Everyone is complaining that we have to hurry to get stuff done before the pointless Murderhobos come to town, yet we should invest time into remodeling the social climate at a high school?
We're going to high school anyway, so we might as well do SOMETHING with it. The Catholic school doesn't do much for me beyond the plaid skirts and knee socks, and the academic potential from the other is wasted on us. Frankford however presents an opportunity for us. We're officially at war with the damn Endbringers and we're about to have to deal with the S9, taking a comparatively small problem that resonates strongly with some of Taylor's key traumatic memories and making it better would be comparatively easy for us, and would do wonders for her mental health and stability.

Agree to disagree with you and uju then.

Taylor needs some time to relax and be a normal teenager. Spending her time in school on working instead of socializing with people her age is not going to help her mental health. She needs some time to relax instead of trying to solve every problem she encounters.

Ah, the joys of Democracy. Still, it's not often we actually disagree on one of these votes. I'm ornery enough to actually enjoy arguing with someone who isn't a complete lose minded dogmatic idiot. Not that I'm naming names or anything.

Oh bull.
By this rationale, she should be camped out near BB trying to figure out how to widen the pinhole.
Or running around trying to find Iris.
Not precisely. Iris? Waste of time, as we wouldn't have any clue where to even start looking. Widen the pinhole? We would need Iris for this.

I've notice that player priorities such as meditation and therapy to get rid of bullshit PTSD aren't base options for this vote. Can I assume that these are automatically happening and thus don't need to be voted for?

Goddamn it, what is it with Grom and railroading?
So Grom doesn't let us micromanage the game so that he can tell a better story, what's so bad about that? If this were railroading, I'm pretty sure a large number of our choices would have been meaningless.

I'm voting for Frakenfort since Taylor could easily make a difference simply by helping her classmates if they're struggling or using some of her rep to get the staff more involved in things like bullying or what not. It doesn't have to be her ruthless stomping every instance of bullying and wrongdoing in the school, she could just do what she did in Clarendon and befriend any outcasts and just be a nice friendly person to them. It'll help train her social stats and might net a few more kids to join the wards/protecterate or even just the local PRT division.
