Holy shit! That is a necromancer easy!

I wonder if it was watching earlier or if it was the ghoul, either way I doubt we can fight it head on right now.

-[X] "I am Sir Ronald Verley and as far as I know no force compelled me or those who follow me here. Who are you?"
--[X] Be polite, but don't let guard down for a moment since no doubt this thing is what is behind this devilry.

"Last one!" the doctor calls as he throws another vial of his strange substance to burn the dead that gather about Ripper. Two more of them collapse, the rotted flesh of their forms burning away.
Well, that's too bad.
We have a wounded seacat, a wounded knight with no particular damage-dealing skills and a splash-weapon expert without splash-weapons.

I think one could make the start of a joke from that, but against any serious foe it might well be the end of one.

Despite appearances, this dude might not be hostile. Even if he is, attacking immediately isn't necessarily the best route, IMO.

Low magic setting, hey?

[X] Run Away!

The men are right, vile sorcery lurks in these walls and a a cursed man wielding strange energies resides within. This feels much too like Egypt. Bug out!

Also build changes sound reasonable, I wasn't sure what our build was for myself but turned up too late to change anything so didn't say anything.

If we absolutly have to fight we still have our Challenge left, which luckily boosts not only us, but also allies attacking the same target.
If the doctor has anything at all left he should definitly use that, otherwise our best bet is that the cat and the knight get lucky on attacking.
Also that the propable necromancer screws up his Concentration rolls, which is not that unlikely at this low level.

I mean to be fair you guys did follow the magic crystal given to you by the magic cat to get here. You did not just stumble over the island by sailing to it at random, so you probably should not take this place as the normal magic level for the world.
Counterpoint, we would have likely be in worse states if we hadn't followed crystal and just wandered around randomly.

Also I have a feeling if we didn't escort the doc he would have gone himself and we would be out our only real healer.

Oh I'm not passing judgement on your choices, just trying to contextualize them. You guys went looking for weird stuff and you found it.

-[X] We did not call them. They were here when we arrived and attacked us both outside and after walked in the open gates. We are lost travelers looking for a place to rest and resupply, not offend or defile this place.

I think we need to change the social vote somewhat. The question of "Did you call them" seems important, and it's not exactly incorrect given that our sea cat friend did give us the means to find this place. We need to try to recognise that.

[X] "We followed the draw of a stone to this place." If you have the chance, show the strange device that Ripper had attached to their collar to the deathly creature before you.
-[X] "We meant no disrespect to you or your halls, I swear that. We are lost travellers, come with only the hope of seeking aid."
-[X] If the situation deescalates from here, introduce yourself and ask the name of the one who speaks.
--[X] If the opportunity presents itself, mention the message dropped by seagull, and that the language was unknown to you.

It bears mentioning that this guy, having telepathy, might be our only hope of communicating with the locals.

Otherwise learning a language is going to be so hard. I swear, Isekai protagonists have everything handed to them, but we gotta fight for every inch!

To be fair, there is a solution.

It's both low-level and available to most spellcasters, regardless of exact class.

I wonder if he would object to be smuggled aboard the ship in a barrel to act as our mysterious magical translator?
