Age of Ice and Blood: A Pathfinder System Heroic Fantasy Quest

Bolt Ace is one of the best gunslinger archetype if i recall the reviews correctly so better get that for Antonio if we want him to be more of a combat-type

Wait wait! Esha can also use her Arcane Pool to boost her caster level, so we'd get 8 hours a casting! If we make her grab Potent Magic next level, it'll be even more!

Not long after you find a secluded hollow for Henri to take Nico into,
Sorry for bothering you, but after correction this sentence become even more mistaken. It should be "a secluded hollow for Nico to take Jean into". Because further in the text:
Thus you ride a ways back with Tam strapped in the saddle of his horse until at last you come upon Jean and Nico standing watch

No more than 3000 GP worth of potions.
Nice. Since any potion with a value of 250 gp or less only requires 2 hours, and Inge can brew her 1st level potions for 25 gp, that's a lot of potions we can make.

Or when you say 3,000 gp, do you mean retail value of 50 gp each?

Also, how do people commonly package potions here? Glass vials probably aren't feasible, and single doses won't be carried around in a wineskin like Zaia's container of CLW ptions. Tiny ceramic vials or bottles, maybe?
Is it just health potions or do you want to try other potions?
Inge doesn't really have many good options right now because her spell knowledge is so anemic. My plan has her creating 4 Touch of the Sea potions for emergencies, then focusing on Cure Light Wounds. The more of those we have on hand, the better off we'll be.
This might be a given, but ask Ripper to stay close to the ship.
Done.

It's the ingredient value

Fixed, hopefully for the last time, thanks again.

  • [X] [Alarm] Write in where to put down alarms (Four 6 Hour instances of the spell can be cast; they can be chained end to end)
-[X] After we thoroughly check the space for stowaways, Esha will keep the entrance to Marcella's cargo hold warded with an audible Alarm at all times. Roland or Antonio and at least one other man-at-arms will always accompany her when she is renewing the spell.
[X] [Potion] Write in which potions to make (Must be from Inge's list for now)
-[X] She will first brew four Touch of the Sea potions, then start working on Cure Light Wounds potions to restore our supply. After seven days, we'll decide if we have enough potions on hand or if we wish for Inge to continue making more.
    [X] [Other preparations]
-[X] Ask Ripper to stay close to the ship, in case his assistance is needed again.
-[X] We'll ask Silver to put his Scent ability to work, getting a good whiff of everyone aboard Marcella so that he can identify any scents that do not belong. When possible, we'll have him lounging on the deck near the entrance that leads deeper into the ship's hold and chambers.
--[X] He will always do one last inspection of the deck before bedding down for the night, assuming he isn't on watch duty. Once the all clear is given, the doors down into Marcella's lower spaces will be closed. During the night, if they are not opened by whoever is next expected to take watch duty, an alarm will immediately be raised, likewise if a door is opened without anyone visible to have done so.
-[X] If we have enough of it available, sand will be spread about in and around doorways those moving about the ship must pass through. A sharp-eyed crew member might spot an Invisible stowaway disturbing the sand as they through it.
-[X] In teams of three, the crew will regularly check any large containers, nooks and crannies, open spaces, etc., as best they can with spears and nets, looking for hidden or Invisible enemies. If Antonio and Marcella don't mind, they might also use a bit of fresh water generated by Inge's Drench cantrip to fling water (basically dipping their fingers and then waving them about) as they go, targeting places they think an Invisible enemy might hide, on the assumption that the water will show the enemy's presence.
-[X] Zaia's chamber, where his valuable tomes and Alchemical supplies will never be left unattended; either Zaia, Inge, and/or Esha will always be present there.

Arc 6 Post 3: Fruit of Fear
Fruit of Fear

Twenty Seventh Day of Olweje-hamba (Olweje Descending) 1348 A. L. (After Landfall)

It's not in the sea, it's on the ship,
the realization had come swiftly. helped perhaps by the last time there had been a foe on the ship, and so you had done all you could to guard those places on the Marcella could do the most harm for the longest while, the hold which now contains precious cargo and tools of trade arcane and mundane, the cabins of captain and passengers both. A guard set on Zaia's books and Antonio's ledgers with lines of sand and weary eyes while Zaia himself continues his brewing. It escapes none that the brew of choice is healing magic, least of all poor Henri. Being dry may have spared him the chill but not the misery of having seemingly brought some new peril upon the ship and its crew.

Tom vows to keep an eye on him, for what good that might do. The poor man was one of the last people holding out hope of getting home and wedding his Anne made the richer by the spoils of the east, instead even the image and the memory of her was sullied by whatever had decided to drive him into nearly drowning himself.

'The only way anyone would have made a glamor was from his own descriptions...'
you doubt Esha had given much thought to saying those words aloud where many ears could hear, speak she does and of that the seeds of resentment are born.

So it is that three days later at about the third hour of the afternoon when Tom is wont to take his lunch a worried Zaia comes to you. His first words are spoken lightly. "The cabin is guarded worry not, I have not had a lady spend quite so long in my chambers for quite a long while," but then his tone turns darker. "It's your man Henri, I think he has been fighting..."

"Fighting?" you rise from your seat at once. There hasn't been fighting among your men at arms since... well since before another sea journey that might as well have been a lifetime ago, when all of you were looking forward to 'righteous war', too eager by half to be fighting. Certainly none of them had fought since the storm and the passage to this new world, a bond of exiles between you.

"In my professional estimation he was held down and beaten, but he would not name the culprits and I had to argue with him to convince him to accept Inge's healing," Zaia continues. "Though I am not the most attentive at such rumor... well my ears are not stoppered with wax either, I would suspect some of the other men aboard have taken it ill that he has 'cursed' the journey back west with some careless words, drawing evil to us all."

"That is mad..." you shake your head. "Even if something latched on to him in particular that is not a sign that he is at fault, it could have been any of us."

At your words Zaia laughs, though there no mirth to be found in the sound. "Tell me sir knight, do you know of the Agberi and their sacrifices to the dead?" You could have done without the explanation of that dreadful custom, but even more without what Zaia says when he is done with it. "Fear may not have claws to rend, or cold lips with which to drink the soul, but still it drives men to the same extremes to appease it. Who after all are their spicions and wrath to fall on, I am a healer, Inge is under your personal protection and I think they fear the lady Esha more than they do any lurking horror, too much to apporach. Yet without any foe having shown himself for three days in spite of all the searching... well someone has to take the blame and the burden, someone has to be scourged for their presumed sins."

"You have a bleak view of men doctor," you reply shaken to your core.

"Frightened men yes, that is why I am here to ask that you give them back their courage," he replies.

"When I find out who did this I shall give out a good deal more."

How do you convince Henri to reveal who harmed him?

[] Command him as his lord (Intimidate DC 16)

[] Try to persuade him (Diplomacy DC 19)

[] Write in

OOC: A reminder that 'burn the witch' situations are not the only sort of unpleasant reactions you may get from all the stress. Not yet edited.

I was afraid of this kind of shit happening. People are gonna be people, and people, in general, suck.

Intimidation would be easier, but not significantly so, since we can have Antonio pitch in to get Roland's Diplomacy bonus to +15.

[X] Try to persuade him (Diplomacy DC 19), with Aid Another assistance provided by Antonio. Working together as lore and leader, along with the captain of the ship, should be enough to convince Henri to talk.

I have to say that with this mysterious foe you have created a decent triller atmosphere.

[X] Goldfish

I expect the foe to be posing as a crew member at some point...

Or to be an Erinat gremlin, I guess.

Not really.
There is a Detect Desires spell in Pathfinder, he could have mind-read the poor man.

Doing it via more distant divinations might also be possible, though that would be hard in this low-magic environment.

There is not yet any proof that the thing or person behind this has actually talked to our men yet.

I know there are spells that could do that, but the characters in the story do not have wiki access, Esha can only make judgement calls, or in this case off handed comments based on what she knows IC.
