Age of Ice and Blood: A Pathfinder System Heroic Fantasy Quest

I was looking up the archetypes for shamans just for fun, and I found this interesting quasi-paladin like archetype (in that you get to channel positive energy and spells to fuck with undead)
Losing diplomacy as a class skill seems a really, really bad trade given how important good social rolls have been so far.

I like the plan, I really do, but thinking long-term it might be better for Roland to get some connection to magic. DP has just very clearly stated that we can't just go from zero to full Gish, so a suboptimal plan with a minor magical ability next level might be better than a good level up now in the end (if we survive a bit longer).

For exampla a spirit-fluffed Berserker's Cry might work very well next level. 15 men with a +1 bonus are better than 1 men with +2 after all.
I don't want to push the level up for the increased combat ability, though that is a nice side effect I'm definitely not complaining about. I want it for the increased social bonuses, which I have a feeling are going to be very important soon. Soon, as in the next chapter where we're in the king of Lirman's court and possibly having to explain why we might have sorta been involved in starting a war.

I'm also not too enthused with having to invest one of our limited feats in a "supernatural feat" when we reach 5th level. Those feats are traditionally of limited value. Even a refluffed Berkerser's Cry is pretty 'meh'. If it was a +1 to attack bonus I would be more enthused with an option like that, but such a limited use +1 to ally damage isn't worth the feat, IMO, not when there are so many better options.

wouldn't we still have our skill investitures from cavalier? We would lose those class skills for the levels invested in the class, but it wouldn't completely neuter our diplomacy and animal handling skills unless I'm just super wrong about how Pathfinder works.

Edit: Although honestly, now that I'm looking at it more deeply, I wouldn't be too upset if we just went up to Cavalier 5. That banner seems pretty sweet, and I imagine we could use Expert Trainer to potentially get some cool beastie as a mount (or just teach Silver cooler tricks)

The spirit upgrade is definitely a lot of mystery boxing results. Which spirit will take notice of the crusader?

It'd probably be that fellow whose tournament we just won.

Hmm yeah that's fair. I could've sworn there was a spontaneous caster version of Shaman (there seems to be a version for every other class lol) but I guess not.

There is a druid archetype that uses charisma instead of wisdom. However, we'd immediately have to ditch our iron stuff to do that, which isn't very appealing.

Could pick up Bard (probably Arcane Duelist archetype) if we wanted some spellcasting and some group buffing abilities.

I'm content with a full martial class for now.

I hope next level up we can get better armsmen, and one or two who know better tricks.

Damn I've read that as attack and damage bonus. Never thought they's leave out the attack.

Basically, our best pick is somehow become a Bard, Sourcerer or throw out the window our religious doubts and become dogmatic Paladin that will burn all heathen scum. Unless of course, we don't have to be a stereotypical lawful stupid asshole. And instead, remain a normal human being. You know, with functional brain and all that.

Well today has been a hot mess...

On top of having little time to write my internet connection decided to fall for hours...

*sigh*

I guess we will have to leave this at as single update, but hopefully I can manage three tomorrow to make up for it. In the meantime you guys can debate the vote.

Good night guys.

Out of curiosity to anyone who may know the system better, what would a supernatural feat entail? I know @Artemis1992 used the fluffed berserker cry as an example, but is there any particular place to find them or do you just trawl the feat list for something that looks abnormal?

Well in this case it means any feat that would include the use of magic or the eye of a magical being, like say Inge's reroll from guiding spirit.

hmm, this seems like it could be interesting

Basically once a day for what would be 3 minutes (1 min/level) you grant your animal companion a boon from a spirit. I think it would depend on what spirit we're communing with, but it could be a nice way to buff up Silver alongside getting into interesting magic stuff.
