Normally, it's pretty bad practice to ping everybody who's voting. In this case, however, since the voting is kinda beyond my ability to use the tally, I'm going to quote all of you so that I can clarify what I think you mean when you're voting.

Waaait, so Briefings aren't just for "Pick X Country" but the example, and if we go [C] Countries is a briefing on all countries?

500 Focus all in all.

[X] Plan Bridge to Peace

[X] Plan Bridge to Peace

Apparently Mobius One is one of our pilots listed on the front page for the X-COM group.

[X] Plan Bridge to Peace

Yeah, the F-35As are a good pick. Pricey, but actually good multi-role planes that are more likely to survive a mission.
KnightDisciple, Rovert10, and Valerian, I'm putting your single-line votes under Hannz's new Bridge to Peace plan; the significant difference is that rather than use the briefing action to read up on Erusea, Osea, Yuktobania, and Belka, the briefing action chooses to skim the briefing material on all countries and planes.

A plan for 500 focus.

I want to hold off buying any of the superplanes or advanced fighters until we have a good grasp on how much we're spending on them. The SU-33s can carry EMLs and HVAA, making them good against aerial threats. The F-15S/MTDs are probably better, maneuverability wise, than the F-15C and the Gripens are quite nimble and probably cheaper than some of the other advanced multirole fighters.

[X] Stable Ground

@huhYeahGoodPoint so we can pre-spend for some briefings before we have to actually select a plan? If so we should definitely do that so we have some idea what the price tags are for things.

[X] Stable Ground

Those aren't the only two routes. Nations don't have to unify to stand united or have a military alliance. Did the Allies have to become one country in order to win WW2? No.
Himmelhand, Gunman, I'm putting you down as voting for Uncle's Stable Ground plan; this bit is actually fairly clear. Sadly, the motion to get more briefings upfront does not have the three-person support I asked for, so I am saying that you won't get it unless I am told otherwise before when I close the vote sometime today.

North Point is a studiously neutral nation. And Fortress Intolerance has been destroyed and abandoned since Ace Combat 2. Basing there would make sense for secrecy, I guess. And neutrality.

I chose Long Caster because narratively speaking, if he received the message he might think he's the one being ordered to make X-COM's interceptor force. And won't that be a boon for secrecy because no one expects the over all commander is someone low down the chain of command?

I chose the ADFX-02 Morgan because even Trigger had a hard time with an F-22 in combating the UFO. So what if he, no, everyone was in a fighter that is even better at close combat? A plane that has a weapon that hits at the speed of light? A weapon that is instantly at the same level as the plasma cannons of the Aliens?

I chose the UAV-45 and MQ-99 to help pad our numbers during a fight and at worst to kamikaze into the UFO's. Also because they can't be mind controlled.

I chose Sky Eye because he's Mobius 1's AWACS Partner, and he's got lots more experience wrangling ace squadrons than anyone else, even Sky Eye, because of how many scraps he's been in alongside Mobius 1.

I chose Mobius Squadron because hey, let's add more ace pilots in a squadron here. And they're Mobius 1's next longest partners.

We need to have the fighter planes checked up, and so we get Scrap Queen to check them out. We also need to train our pilots, and Mobius 1 is the best pilot (by how many missions he's already done compared to everyone else who only participated in just 1 war) whose location is known. So let's get him training pilots.

[X] Plan Mistaken Identity Narrative!

Not gonna lie, I feel that the Fortress is cooler. Basically it.

Not a fan of the drones, but love the idea of an ace squadron flying in Morgans. I also prefer Long Caster over some OC, as long as the food puns keep coming.

@huhYeahGoodPoint Would it be possible to have McKinsey and Bandog as commanders though? Just have McKinsey somehow survive the Lighthouse War in Ciaphas Cain fashion as the Hero of the IUN/Osea and be the face of XCOM while Bandog is the one going behind his back to make sure shit isn't fubar.
IcePickLobotomy, I'm counting your vote as a vote for kilopi505's new modified plan, but I am counting ZX03's vote as for a different plan entirely, due to lacking the briefing action for Countries, Planes, and Grunder Industries.

Also, ZX03, possible is something completely different from wise. I am confirming it is possible.

I'll probably close voting either tonight or tomorrow; depends on how much background work I've completed in the meanwhile.

Just to clarify, are you saying that my plan needs one more vote to more than one briefing or any briefing at all?

Do you want to spend the Focus to get the briefing now? What is your argument for it?

We should spend now so we don't waste Focus on trying to buy planes we can't afford and may possibly annoy suppliers asking for. Right now any attempts at acquiring new planes are a total shot in the dark.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.

@huhYeahGoodPoint
How much focus will it cost for just a briefing on the planes now?

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.

50 Focus, to get a general overview of every aircraft you can get. Plus a voting extension so you can use the info and so that I can finish figuring out the costs

If you wanted to just get an overview of the dogfight-capable aircraft, probably 30 Focus or so.

I vote to spend the Focus on the briefing now. I"ll leave it to Uncle to decide how much. That makes three voters.

Adding 50 focus puts us a bit too close to the red zone for me. 30 sounds good though.

This is the 30 Focus briefing for dogfight-capable aircraft.

look upon my lists, ye mighty, and despair

also jfc I had to simulate creating an entire airforce from scratch to make this list i hope you're happy with it

it is 3 am, and I regret so damn much

Cost: 70 IC
Carrier capable: No
Special Weapons:
MGP
RKT
SAAM

A small fighter jet. At least four decades old, this aircraft boasts the record for the most manufactured single jet aircraft; due to its incredible sales numbers, it can achieve incredibly low prices, and vice versa. SFFS
TLS*
4AGM
SAAM
QAAM

A multirole strike aircraft. A variant of the F-15C Eagle, the F-15E Strike Eagle is equally capable of conducting air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. Built as an alternative to the F-35 and as a successor to the F-16, it lacks the offensive power of the F-35, the carrier capability, or the optimized production lines; it was supposed to be cheaper than the F-35, but lack of funding meant that the costs have continued to be relatively large.
F-32 Aquila
Cost: 4000 IC
Carrier capable: Yes
Special Weapons:
SOD
4AAM
4AGM
SAAM
LASM
QAAM

A multirole carrier craft. Designed as a competitor to the F-35 Lightning II, its problems with integration and avionics ultimately resulted in devestatingly poor international sales; as a result, its sales never managed to fully recoup the costs of development.

Special Weapons:
LASM
XSDB
LAAM
QAAM
4AAM

An experimental aircraft with 3D thrust vectoring and impressive high angle-of-attack flight granting it one of the highest degrees of maneuverability among fifth-generation fighters. However, the prototype entered the market after the F-22, which had significantly superior stealth, and concurrently with the F-35, which ended up being significantly cheaper, spelling doom for the project.
Bae Systems Replica
Cost: 4500 IC
Carrier Capable: Yes
Special Weapons:
HCAA
LAAM
SASM
LASM
GPBL

An experimental aircraft developed by North Point as a stealth multirole fighter, to replace the aging Tornado. Much like the YF-23, importance was put primarily on low observability. It was ultimately passed on by North Point for the F-35, but it was still produced in small numbers.
Mig 1.44 Flatpack
Cost: 2500 IC
Carrier capable: No
Special Weapons:
QAAM
UGB
4AAM
RCL
SOD
XMAA

An experimental multirole aircraft. Its large canards and thrust-vectoring nozzles give it notable manueverability.
F22A Raptor
Cost: 5000 IC
Carrier capable: No (no, mission 20 doesn't count)
Special Weapons:
QAAM
XSDB
8AAM
4AAM
SASM
SOD

A stealth air superiority fighter. The F-22A Raptor is the go-to example for what an air superiority fighter should look like: the absolute ability to obliterate an enemy that cannot possibly respond. It is strongest when fighting from long range, but that does not remotely mean that it is weak in close-range combat.
Su57
Cost: 4900 IC
Carrier capable: No
Special Weapons:
4AAM
GPB
PLSL*
QAAM

A stealth air superiority fighter. Built as an answer to the F-22A Raptor, the Su-57 features stealth capabilities, advanced radar, and the thrust-vectoring nozzles required for supermanueverability.
YF 23 Black Widow II
Cost: 4900 IC
Carrier capable: No
Special Weapons:
HVAA
4AAM
UGB
SAAM
SASM

An experimental stealth aircraft. Built primarily for stealth capabilities, the YF-23 trades off close range capabilities for even better long-range capabilities than the F-22A Raptor.
ADFX-01 MORGAN
Cost: 17000IC
Carrier capable: No
Special Weapons:
TLS*
MPBM*
ECMP

A prototype fighter. The original superplane, it possesses incredible capabilities in all aerial aspects. Canards and forward swept wings give it nigh-unmatched maneuverability, especially for its size. The one area that it is lacking in is stealth, and in the stealth era that spelled doom for potential mass-manufacture.
F-22 Spiral 7 ALTAIR
Cost: N/A
Carrier capable: No
Special Weapons:
8AAM
QAAM
8AGM
LASM
TLS*
MPSL*
ECMP

A prototype fighter. Only deployed in the Raikalan Election Dispute, it appears to have been a single-production run aircraft. Only superficially similar to the F-22 base, its additional canards and segmented wings give an already tremendously capable dogfighter frankly unbelievable manueverability, along with an avionics systems that far surpasses the Raptor and powerful e-warfare capabilities to add insult to injury. The only two shortcomings of this plane appear to be its increased stealth profile, and the fact that another one was never made after the first was destroyed.
F-4E Phantom
Cost: 600 IC
Carrier capable: Yes
Special Weapons:
UGB
LAGM
SASM
QAAM

A multirole fighter aircraft. It is one of the first carrier-capable aircraft, and although it is aged, it still holds many records and maintains an impressive battle record.
F-4X Super Phantom
Cost: 1000 IC
Carrier capable: Yes
Special Weapons:
XMAA
XLAA

A fighter aircraft. An improvement over the F-4E Phantom, the F-4X Super Phantom has a greatly improved powerplant, enabling the Super Phantom to reach blistering speeds. The airframe has been reinforced as a necessary consequence, but special weapons were a low priority for this plane.
AFTI F-4 Agile Phantom
Cost: 1600 IC
Carrier Capable: Yes
Special Weapons:
XMAA
QAAM

A fighter aircraft. The AFTI F-4 Agile Phantom boasts segmented maneuverable wings, along with the F-4X's superior engine, to create a highly manueverable fighter aircraft, capable of dogfighting modern planes favorably. However, its avionics remains outdated, limiting its special weapons loadout.
F-104C Starfighter
Cost: 50 IC
Carrier capable: No
Special Weapons:
SAAM
GRKT
HPAA

A multirole interceptor aircraft. A slim, supersonic interceptor, the C-variant is equipped with ground munitions. Its thrusters and small profile allow it to fly at speeds comparable to modern fighters, but its turning radius is wide, even among interceptors.
Mig 31B Foxhound
Cost: 2000 IC
Carrier capable: No
Special Weapons:
LAAM
SAAM
PLSL*

An interceptor aircraft. Featuring an unmatched top speed, incredibly high performance ceiling, and long range missiles, the Foxhound is a dangerous long-range interceptor, loaded with the latest avionics.
Mirage 2000-5
Cost: 800 IC
Carrier capable: No
Special Weapons:
GPB
4AAM
LASM
SFFS

A multirole aircraft. Designed as an evolution of the Mirage 2000, the Mirage 2000-5 wields its light weight and delta wings to achieve good balance and maneuverability at high speeds.
MQ-99
Cost: 400 IC
Carrier capable: No, but container-capable
Special Weapons:

A modern drone fighter. Free from the constraints of keeping the pilot alive, the MQ-99 drones are programmed to be able to endure massive g-loads when maneuvering, allowing the aircraft to draw the maximum potential from the airframe.
MQ-101
Cost: 600 IC
Carrier capable: No, Arsenal Bird-capable
Special Weapons:

An unmanned combat aircraft. Featuring a folded wing design for easier compatibility with the Arsenal Birds, these drones boast even greater maneuverability than the MQ-99 drones, and will not hesitate to sacrifice themselves to protect a target, preventing engagement of targets from all but the very shortest of ranges.

AV-8B Harrier II+
Cost: 900 IC
Carrier capable: Yes
Special Weapons:
4AGM
RKTL
LASM

A VTOL attacker aircraft. Designed to be usable on light aircraft carriers and small airfields.
A10C Thunderbolt II
Mirage F-1
F-117 Nighthawk
Su-25 Frogfoot
Su-34 Fullback
Tornado GR.4
FB-22 Strike Raptor
EA-6B Prowler
EA-18G Growler
Tornado ECR
Please. Nobody'd be crazy enough to go up against hypermanueverable alien craft in dedicated attackers, right?

*EML, PLSL, TLS, ADMM, and the MPBM are all experimental superlative weapon systems, so it should be noted that sometimes installing these weapon systems will cost more than the plane itself.

Voting is obviously extended for a day, at least.

Long Caster is at 130 Focus.

New plan! Switching those F-35s up for some Nosferatus, the cheapest Superplane in the Market, for both our Super Aces and then some more mook planes.

If this is to be believed, we should be able to afford it.
Available Industrial Capacity: 39,150 per week

That leaves 3,150 in Industrial Capacity, a bit of a pity amount, but it's a just in case kind of thing.

This will put Long Caster at 530 Focus, is there a way to trim 30-50 off the plan to keep it under 500?

Ok. I made changes in Plan Mistaken Identity Narrative:

[X] Plan Mistaken Identity Narrative!

-[X] Read Briefings (50 Focus)
--[X] Countries

--[X] Grunder Industries
--[X] SSR Tier Aces

As you can see, I ordered 2 ADFX-01 Morgan for Trigger and Mobius 1's usage, 10 MQ-99 drones for additional numbers and because mobility-wise drones can match UFO's move for move and 10 F-104 Starfighters that are there to provide platforms to control the MQ-99 drones and to boom and zoom the UFOs with the MQ-99 drones being the wingmen and the shields for the Starfighters and because F-104 Starfighters are Scrap Queen's specialty and thus they should have a freaking bonus because Scrap Queen Specialty. All for a total of 38, 500 IC leaving behind 650 IC. Yes, 650 IC. Which will get replenished by another 39,000 + IC in another in-quest week.

I also made the briefings include information about other XCOM branches because most probably there is at least one other XCOM base, somewhere around Anea most likely because that is where Talisman is and he most probably is going to suit up in a Nosferatu. And SSR Tier Aces because hey let's see if Phoenix and Cipher and Pixy and Blaze can still be located and brought back to the fight.

Also note that I have kept the Focus spending to 300 Focus.

@huhYeahGoodPoint, what happened to the UAV-45 drones? I was most counting on that because they are the drones that can move like a UFO the most.

If you want laser spam, if you want UAV spam, if you want to search for Phoenix and Cipher and Pixy and Blaze and have them flying ASAP then vote Plan Mistaken Identity Narrative!

Lasers and UAV's and Player Character Aces are our friends in the war against the Alien. Lasers hit at the speed of light, so no miraculously dodging UFO's once the sights are lined up and the trigger is pulled. UAV's can match UFO's move for uncanny move, can't be mind controlled, and they can kamikaze into UFO's when needed to. And I don't think there's a need to explain why I am looking for Phoenix, Cipher, Blaze and Pixy. So let's vote Plan Mistaken Identity Narrative!

Plan Mistaken Identity Narrative! Lasers, UAVs, Phoenix and Cipher and Pixy and Blaze and only 300 Focus. Plan Mistaken Identity Narrative! Lasers, UAVs, Phoenix and Cipher and Pixy and Blaze and only 300 Focus. Plan Mistaken Narrative! Lasers, UAVs, Phoenix, Cipher, Pixy and Blaze and only 300 Focus. Plan Mistaken Identity Narattive! Plan Mistaken Identity Narrative! UAVs and Lasers and Phoenix and Blaze and Cipher and Pixy and only 300 Focus. Plan Mistaken Identity Narrative! Phoenix and Blaze and Cipher and Pixy and UAVs and Lasers and 300 Focus only! Plan Mistaken Identity Narrative! Lasers and Blaze and UAVs and Phoenix and Cipher and Pixy and Focus - my God I'm tired of manually typing this! End!

I guess we can always train the pilots later once we get the full briefing. We still do have 2 Super Aces, and Mobius 1 is canonically equal to entire squadron or air force (Been a long time since I last played Operation Katina) on his lonesome, and Trigger should be around that level too so we're not exactly hurting for airpower right now.

What is that? Are all the planes below the line supposed to be super planes? All of these planes are capable of dogfighting the aliens?

The ones below the line are the planes that GM declared NOPE, NOPE, NOPE NOT USING FOR ANTI-UFO OPERATIONS.

Vote Plan Mistaken Identity Narrative for Lasers and UAVs and Phoenix and Cipher and Pixy and Blaze and under 300 Focus even!

EML, TLS, MPBM, and PLSL are weapon systems. Everything beneath the line is a dedicated Attacker craft; in-universe the explanation is that Long Caster decided not to bother, out of universe the real answer is that it was 3 am and I couldn't go any further.

UAV-45 drones got succeeded by the MQ-101 line.

Wait, what? Really? So the MQ-101 and the MQ-99 drones can do that physics defying stunts that I saw in my playthrough of AC6 by the UAV-45?

Also, if we really do try to order more, how much cheaper are the UAV-45 IC-wise? Because I'm tempted to use them as chape Kamikaze attackers in addition to harrassment attacks.

Wait a minute. Nosferatu planes come WITH the UAV-45. Are you changing that?

Vote Plan Mistaken Identity Narrative for Lasers and UAVs and Phoenix and Cipher and Pixy and Blaze and under 300 Focus even! Lasers, UAVs, Pixy and Cipher and Blaze and Phoenix. Pixy, Cipher, Blaze, Phoenix, Lasers and UAVs. UAVs, Blaze, Pixy, Lasers, Phoenix, Cipher.

Sort of. Grunder Industries' MQ-101 drones were based upon the independent work of Estovakia's state company Albastru-Electrice in creating the UAV-45, but due to the peace and arms limitation treaty that Estovakia signed at the end of the Emmerian-Estovakian War, the UAV-45 cannot be produced, but the CFA-44 Nosferatu can.

...but, War with ET. Its an all hand on deck, give everyone guns and stuff situation. Estovakia not making them and passing them around Anea for free at this point? Because UAV-45s gotta be cheap IC-wise. Cheapest of the drones. AK-47 of Drone World.

Plan Mistaken Identity Narrative for lasers and UAVs and Cipher and Blaze and Phoenix and Pixy!
