Ace Attorney Investigations: Ema Skye: Turnabout of the Stars (Kirby/Ace Attorney Quest)

Guys isn't the minster at the castle so why don't we stay a bit and ask him some questions on the case?
Actually, that's a decent idea-

Wait. Hmm.
Why don't we ask the guards or someone for directions? And yeah that's him
HOLD IT!

While I very much see your logic here, it does seem to make a lot of sense to talk to him on the surface of this, there is one issue present.

Namely, the loyalty of the Cabinet Minister. If he lets his kids get away with assisting the suspect, then we can conclude that he may well be in on it, or otherwise unaware of the subject or perhaps uncaring.

He just generally wouldn't be that invested in the case if he (seemingly knowingly, based on the "scolding from their parents" line when talking about the kids in question) lets his kids get away with it.

Therefore, how useful do you think talking to him would be, given all that?

Speaking of time, the "clock" in this quest will operate as it does in Ace Attorney, in that you can visit all the places you want, no matter how potentially far away they may be, and no time passes at all...until you get to that next plot-relevant location, that is.

Based on decisive evidence, there is only one true culprit behind such a fiendish plot!

And it's you...Mr. Tick-Tock!

[X] Move around the castle
-[x] Audience Chamber

[I retrace my steps, making my way back to that large chamber with the gilded recliner.]

Ema
......

[However, neither King Dedede nor Escargoon are anywhere to be seen. No one is here, in fact...except for a couple Waddle Dees guarding the throne.]

Ema
(Well, he's not here. What a waste of time. I'm just gonna get going.)

DECORATION AWARDED!
Half a Heart
It's boring going it alone. I'm outta here.

Sometimes, Ema lets her moodiness get the better of her and she will refuse to linger at a seemingly irrelevant location.

Perhaps if she has something to boost her motivation and confidence, like making a breakthrough in the case or having a partner nag at her, this will happen less often in the future...

But hey, we got her a decoration! That's...something... Right...?

yes, "decorations" = achievements

[X] Leave Castle Dedede for Cappy Town

[I leave the castle and make my way down the hill towards...]

February 2, 12:20 PM
Cappy Town
Main Street

Ema
(Whew... Finally made it. So this is Cappy Town...)
(Now... Where's that police station?)

[Looking around, I see several creatures that look a lot like those old clay figures I see around L.A. sometimes. A couple of them stop walking to look at me, allowing me to see their faces.]

Ema
(Wow, they really do look like living clay figures...)

[I walk up to a group of them.]

Ema
Excuse me, can you tell me where I can find the police station? I was told there was one here in town.

[One of them stops gaping at me to answer.]

Soft-Sounding Clay Figure
Oh, it's down that way, in the town square. The house with the big star, you can't miss it.

Ema
Thanks!

[As I walk down the street, I can hear the soft-sounding clay figure talk to its friends behind me.]

Shawl-Wearing Clay Figure
Never seen anyone like that before... So thin...

Soft-Sounding Clay Figure
She sounded like such a nice young lady. What business could she have with the Chief?

Exotic-Looking Clay Figure
How strange... I wonder if it had anything to do with the Starship that landed at the castle?

Soft-Sounding Clay Figure
Could she be working for the King?

Exotic-Looking Clay Figure
Someone like her? Ha! I doubt it...

Cappy Town
Town Square

Ema
(House with a big star... This must be the place.)
(It's a lot more...quaint than what I'm used to. It almost looks like a sheriff's station from the Wild West.)

[A snore catches my attention, forcing me to notice the clay figure sleeping in a rocking chair on the station's porch.]

Ema
(A police uniform... This must be the Chief. Sorry to interrupt your beauty sleep...!)

So! This is the Cappy Town Police Station, huh?

Police Chief
Ssnrk–whaa?! Who is it?! What happened?!

Ema

You're the Chief of Police, right? I'd like to ask you a few questions.

Police Chief
Whoa, whoa, hang on now! Who are you, and what are you doing here?!

Ema
Detective Ema Skye. How about we talk inside?

Police Chief
"Detective"? I don't remember asking for a detective! Let's see your badge!

[] Present your badge and cooperate
[] Don't present your badge. You're asking the questions here!

[X] Present your badge and cooperate

It seems that we can create some logic from the clay villagers, "The king has a bad reputation in the village."

[X] Present your badge and cooperate

Ema
(It's probably best to stay on his good side for now.)
(So if it's a badge he wants...)

>Present "Detective's Badge"

Ema
Will this do?

Police Chief
Hmm...I've never heard of this "Lohs Angeleese" before, but I don't go out of town on trips like I used to. Certainly looks legal, at least.

[The chief hands my badge back to me after inspecting it.]

Police Chief
Chief Bookem of the Cappy Town Police Department. You said you have some questions for me, Detective?

Ema
Yes, but why don't we talk inside?

[Chief Bookem looks behind me towards the other clay figures trying very hard not to watch and listen in on our conversation.]

Chief Bookem
...All right. Come on in.

[I follow him inside. The station's interior looks about as much as I expected it to be when I first saw the outside: just a desk, a table, and a few chairs. There's another door on the other side of the room.]

[Chief Bookem sits down behind the desk, so I take the chair facing it.]

Chief Bookem
So, what brings you all the way out here, Detective?

[] Question Chief Bookem (Write-in)
[] Collect my thoughts first

I know this has started off rather slow, but the first cases in AA games usually take a while to get going. We're about halfway-to-two-thirds done with the "tutorial", hopefully ending with a confrontation filled with lots of shouting and pointing.

We can do a bit more before stopping to collect our thoughts.

[X] Question Chief Bookem:
-I'm here to talk about the level of crime here. What can you tell me about that? I expect it's low, what with you being the only cop here.
-I've heard you've had a few issues with the King, don't see eye-to-eye all the time. Can you tell me anything about that?
-Lastly, the main reason I'm here. I've heard of a small pink ball with legs roaming the area. What can you tell me about him?
-He's the suspect in a number of significant crimes. Mind explaining that to me?

There we go.

Good questions for the start, in the second round we'll likely need to ask about children and hideouts.
The sets of laws between Earth and Popstar are very similar to one another for some reason.
Nevertheless, we should ask if we actually have the authority to arrest and question the citizens.

Usually, you'd to exhaust the questions before attempting Logic or else risking forming some plausible, but incomplete and thus wrong conclusions.
I understand how AA works, and I see where you're coming from, but the thing is how would we exhaust all questions? They're write-ins, which I like make no mistake, because that further increases the amount of feeling like a detective/lawyer this game has, but it also means that we can't really exhaust questions reliably.

Although you do still have a point. I guess we'll wait and see what answers we get, and Logic or not depending on how solid the connections we think we can make are.

Also, shout out to the effort put into this quest. Give a round of applause to Dr Pikachu here, he even puts the Logic icons onto an in-game style screen with a selection sign. Just saw that on the front page.

Seriously, you are doing glorious work, OP. Way more effort than I've ever put into one of these.
