Abyssal Princesses 2 (Not Actually the Second One): A Kancolle GSRP

...It was literally in the first post...
I never claimed to be the most observant of persons.

EDIT:
I was also looking over the Rulesguide for this turn's actions and I noticed a change in the text for Research Center from (+20% to Learning stats for all ships in the area) to +20% to total research rolls conducted. On the status screen it still states that Research Centers only boost the Learning Stats, I'm hoping assuming we're following the Rulesguide?

Whoop, knew I missed something...

Anyways... @ForgottonFuture @Terran Imperium do any of you want to weigh in on the magic thing? Because I think the current consensus is a yes on it's inclusion but it's still up in the air as to exactly how, though the opinions seem to be averaging a type 2?

@Spectral Waltz, Did repairing Dragon take 1.25 Resources?

Current Resources: 8.5
-2.25 to construct a Research Center
==6.25
Income: 2.5
==8.75

Shipyard [Fiji] finishes building two Destroyers.

Research Roll: {73 + 18 (Learning) + 20 (Focused Scholars)} x 1.2(Research Center) == 133.2

Honestly my main issue with option 2 is the 'single unified 'government'' part of it. Maybe world wide communication, specially with the internet existing nowadays, but it boggles the mind to think any one government could claim to be able to reliable project authority across the entire world. Unless the '' marks the word government was between means it's just making big claims it can't enforce.

Basically like the clock tower from F/SN, they are the largest centralized body of mages, but they don't really project that authority very much. Mostly they only get involved if something really big is going down and even then it's just 'dispatch some enforcers'.

So I might have leaned on the fate reference a little too much, sorry. Basically one big 'major school' that purports to be 'the' authority on magic, but who's really mostly just 'the biggest' authority on magic, certainly not the only one.

I'm voting against it. This seems like an unnecessary crossover or addition that appeared out of nowhere. I am a deep fan of the Nasuverse but even I wouldn't want that.

SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY!

This isn't a Nasuverse crossover.

1 is "this takes place in the setting of the source material, namely a HP/Kancolle crossover"
2 is "this is a Kancolle/OC-magical community organised similarly to the Mage Association in Nasuverse. Namely a single big magic organisation looming over everyone else"

I did say...

I was speaking about both cases. An original magical community just seems like an unnecessary addition to the RP that popped out of nowhere. I liked the basic Kancolle setting as it is.
I'm keeping my vote against it as it is, right now.

And here's my rolls for the turn.

It didn't pop out of nowhere. At least not the option 1.

It is just staying faithful to the fic that spawned this RP.
Harry and the Shipgirls. Yeah.
It doesn't mean this sudden addition/change is really appreciated. For me at least.

I had first-hand expectations when I first joined and they were met wonderfully. This is heavily deviating from my expectations and the reasons as to why I joined.
I would have perhaps signed up with a different mindset if this was a 'Harry and the Shipgirls' RP right off the start but that isn't the case, here.

It's not meant to so much be directly a HatSG RP as HatSG-inspired...

Really though, I don't think humans having some magic will change the tone of the RP that much... Though I wonder how much of that is a result of my own starting expectations...

But... Eh... It's not meant to be some huge thing that would change or recontextualize what's been done so far.

Still, given two people now telling me they don't want it at all, I'm reconsidering a little...

The opening post literally and explicitly says this was based off a thing in the Harry and the Shipgirls thread, I'm really not seeing how this is a sudden plot twist.

I'm guessing it's more similar in situation to myself: either not really noticing or taking note, but focusing on the fact that it was a kancolle GSRP more than anything else.

I enjoy the idea of the GM shaking up the setting so it's not just Canon + Players, reacting to challenges and having characters clash or make deals is what makes something like this feel alive rather than a rehash with a faction that's ahead of the game.

@Terran Imperium and @ForgottonFuture it is now Thursday. Normally I'd be giving you a 24hour deadline right about now but I know that Forgotton at least has mentioned to me ahead of time that they have midterms this week, in light of which I am prepared to extend that deadline for a bit.

So this is your 'please talk to me about how much extra time (if any) you think you'll need' reminder I guess.

Yeah I'd like a extension please. I should be able to post tomorrow. But I don't know for sure.

Yeah, but I managed to squeeze in a post, fortunately.

Here are the rolls by the way. As usual, may the Abyss bless me.
I'll intentionally fail the summoning roll. I have enough Demons, I need more of the mooks right now.
EDIT: Huh, I rolled thrice without noticing, ignore the last roll. Not that it matters since it is a fail and I wanted one for the summon anyway, lol.

ForgottonFuture has messaged me to say that they have lost interest and are dropping out of the RP. @grubleafeater you are in line on the waiting list, would you like to take up their faction?

You have until Noon of Sunday the 27th to reply

IC how is such a change explained?

A sudden epiphany followed by turning over a new leaf?

I have been mentioned! I would need to study their faction in order to figure out where it is in order to actually make a decision one way or another, though.

...

Also, I had kinda really wanted to do the piratey faction idea I'd had even if I'd have to re-study to find where I was going to put my base... :p

Edit:And, just in general, 'picking up where so and so left off' isn't usually a super pleasant way to start a rp :|

We're still only a few turns in, so you should be good no matter what direction you want to go in
